    We drove up twice. Went through B.C. and tge Yukon Territory into Alaska. But check on what's required to take your dog. Updated vaccines and such. And of course, you must have a passport. Driving is so worth it. You can take your time and see what you want to see. Highly recommend .

    I think you made the right choice about Ketchikan -- you were on a boat for the whole trip, time to get out and stretch your legs. And what an amusing little town in which to do it, even with all the dead fish -- I wonder if they have a crew go out and scrape them off the rocks at the end of the spawning season.

    Alaska us still
    Our home of 36 years, even though We’ve been on the road for 6 years. My advice is drive from Montana Border crossing the entire Alcan Hwy to Alaska and return down the Cassiar Highway into Washington. So much to see on Both roads. Lots of places to camp (free). It is expensive. Fuel, especially, but cook Your own food helps with traveling cost. Need a Passport and Dog needs up to date shots and Vet visit before crossing borders. Two
    Months is just the minimum, I suggest, if really want to see and experience Alaska and Canada. May- June are great months to be there. Many opportunities for excursions that time of year. Hit me up if You decide to go and, maybe, I can have tips and ideals that may help
    You. Safe travels and We’ll see You out there.

    # 2 Creek Street - my friend from England and a resident of our resort on Mactan Island, Cebu. were doing a walking tour. One of the red light houses was
    being shown by a lady ( not sure if she owned it or was just the operator for tourist money ) We did not go in but for $1. each she would put her shawl around
    our shoulders and let us have a picture. Those ladies made more money than the prospectors. This was 15 plus years ago.

    Glad you brought us along on your adventure, I'm not able to go very far - broke at the moment - but I love to watch you and a couple others on their travels. We lived next to a small creek where the salmon would spawn and there was quite a few that expired, made me afraid for bears and my dog was a real loud mouth lol

    I hope you do come up again! I live up on the hill (by Chugach State Park) overlooking the city of Anchorage & I have a guest room. I’ve only been to Ketchikan once, but I’ve been to Sitka several times. I was chomping at the bit hoping that you’d go into one of the awesome thrift shops there to look for pants instead of pricey tourist traps. My mom & stepdad have driven up here twice on the Alcan (AL CAN = Alaska Canada) Highway and they’re from Florida. If they can do it… surely a Georgia girl (with Little One!) can do it too! 😆🍑 BTW.. I hope you taped it when you first walked in & saw your precious pup!! If you did, I’ll bet that ALL OF US want to see that!! 🥰🐾💕

    Did they offer the salmon bake there? When Pam and I were there we had this big salmon dinner that was part of the ships entertainment. Thing is with that cruise is you can only do it by sea .. no roads. Now that I will have my Tacoma and 4 Wheel camper I can now take that trip on. The Ferry as you said is expensive and you will miss a bunch of scenery ... I need to get to Fairbanks .. the one place we didn't get to. I did the Ferry from Port Hardy, Vancover Island to Prince Rupert, BC on my motorcycle years ago .. that was breathtaking! 🤠

I don’t know…..I know at one time my Mom and Step-Dad were planning on taking a train to Canada at one time, whole thing is pricey though. Those dead salmon I've already laid their eggs Upstream. Once they do they try to go back to the ocean yet most of them die before they can. Or are eaten by bears, predators. I used to work with a fella who married an Inuit and lived in Alaska oh, and they lived here in Ohio for a few years but they missed Alaska so much they moved back to it.

    • @joejones9520
      @joejones9520 Год назад +3

      they all die....the stream they go up to lay their eggs is almost always the same stream they were born in, no one knows how they are able to find the same stream again after spending 5 or so yrs in the ocean.

    Did your Aunt do a good job with her care ? It is kind of like asking some one to baby sit your grade school child. Could she do a month. What is the cost to rent

    Salmon usually almost kill themselves on their final journey to return to their origin and start the next generation and then they just die. Like you said dead fish everywhere. The ones that live to the end and start the next generation usually just die from the trauma of the trip.

    Ummm the last I heard on the ferry was you leave your dog in the vehicle but every day for a certain number of hours you can go to your jeep and feed and water little one play with her, and I thought they had an area you could walk little one to "do business" but that may be old information.
