I found it easier to procedurally generate the pixel pattern and "pixelate" the UVs of my source image. This way the perceived resolution of my image and the size of the pixels perfectly match, so I can get some sweet closeups. But of course there's a million ways to look at this problem, this solution is valid too of course :)
I found changing the interpolation of the image of the content you want displayed from "linear" to "closest" gives a better result as an additional step. That way you get the blockiness of that original image's pixels which better lines up with the generated pixels.
@@leatje nope, best i could do was crank up the brightness by a LOT so it appeared white (thats the color of my characters face) it helped, but its still tinted green at certain angles.

The image i broadcasted onto the lcd screen was tinted green after the process, why?

It seems that EEVEE is the problem. I was having the same problem until I switched to Cycles.
