How to Change the Oil in a Jeep Gladiator

- We know that not everyone is an experienced mechanic. This video is to help show you how we change the oil in a 2020 Jeep Gladiator. The JT oil change one of the easiest out there with plenty of room to work and easy access to the drain plug and oil filter.
Also note, this is the same process in any Jeep vehicle with the 3.6 V6 Motor including, JK, JL, and Grand Cherokee.

Dude, great short video! Only thing I would, add (just from my experience) is to open the filler cap and take the lid off first. That way when you drain the oil, air is getting in and you will get more of the total oil out.
Yes always best practice.
Good tip! Thanks!
Thanks for taking the time. Short and to the point. Extremely helpful.
I second that!
5.7 quarts in the Jeeps 3.6 . Also, hold foot on brake and gas to floor, press for start, the engine will turn over for about 5 seconds to prime system, then start normally. If my jeep sits for 2 or more days, I preform the prime just to be sure the upper end is lubed before I start, not that much of hurry and it helps, no rocker arm ticks yet.
Thanks for the tip! Was looking all over for it! Had no idea it was up top.
Well done. Straight forward. I think we use a different Oil Grade in 🇨🇦
Now I'll know how to do that when I get one in 2035 or so when I can afford it;) Thanks man!
brian70Cuda Hahaha. We’d be saying the same thing if we didn’t buy it for business! Thanks again for watching 😁
brian70Cuda, you can do anything you put your mind too. Be a Lion.....not a sheep!
@@TrailBendersOverland How about a old lion with a bad leg?:)
Very simple Dillon, thank you sir….
Thanks guys loved it! Perfect!
Great video. I think I could do this myself.
This video was very helpful thank you 🙏
Great vid! Thanks for the help!!!
Interesting. I've never seen a filter like that before. Looks like I could actually do it myself.
MMID303 if you even remotely think you can, you definitely can. It’s an easy job. Having a funnel to help fill it back up makes it even easier.
My 2013 unlimited had same engine and filter
What’s funny is they had these canister filters back in the 40’s 50’s 60’s and even a couple in the 70’s. But they were inferior to the NEW filters. Lol
I posted this 2 years ago. I have been doing my own oil changes shortly after I posted it. Very easy and because my Jeep is lifted, it's even easier.
Great video
Do you have a preferred oil filter? I see you like the Mobil 1 oil...
Just curious bc I was worried, I’ve driven 3k miles since purchasing and the dealership I got mine from said they had just changed the oil. Should I wait until the indicator pops up? Or should I change it to be safe?
Wait til it pops up! If it's synthetic oil you can drive around 10k b4 oil if changed
Good vid thanks mate
No way am I going 8500 miles between changes with the top end issues these motors have. That’s asking for problems.
It’s easier to change that lol the next day after the vehicle‘s been setting all night.
Because it was not hot and everything is drained out of the heads in the top of the motor
Do it every 5000 miles. Period. If you plan to keep it for a while. This is why I buy new. So I know what’s been done.
Just use Amsoil. No worries !
Thanks
Happy to help!
Put 5 quarts in. Is there a reason nothing is showing on the dipstick?
5 quarts and no show? Did you figure it out? It's been awhile since I change the oil and forgot how many quarts it takes. I'll have to look but maybe it's closer to 6?
I changed my oil in my 2021 Gladiator 3.6 last night and had the same issue, I read several forums about the oil pan in the gen 2 pentastars going from 6 qts to five and saying not to add more than five. I figured I would check the level the next morning and it was indeed to the top of the crosshatch indicator.
Mine says 5.7 quarts so idk 🤷♂️
Is there a way to adjust the oil reminder from 8500 to 12000 miles for synthetic oil?
That’s a great question. Maybe the JL Tazer Mini can do it.
you should adjust to 100000 miles for synthetic oil
Do not run those long oil change intervals - look up pentastar cam and rocker issues.
Give an oil filter a look after 10,000 miles, and you'll focus more on 5,000 mile intervals.

Use Rislone engine treatment at every oil change. It’s great at keeping everything clean. Lifters, oil passages ect. Seriously great stuff !
lies. I JUST did mine and I didn't see the part where you swore and got it all over and had to buy kitty liter!
"I can't wait to be able to change my oil easily. " Jeep lifetime warranty: "you can't change your own oil or you void the warranty. " lol i also wouldn't leave it past 5, i do mine every 5k as it protects the motor more and after 3.5k miles the gas mileage begins to drop off a lot. it usually says about 30% life left anyway by then. Nice write up!
Dang didn't know that!
@@TrailBendersOverland yea i was excited to have a nice easy oil change unlike my Renegade trailhawk with the annoying skid plate with like...25 bolts and no simple filter access. I have debated saying i went to 10k each oil change and just doing it in-between myself but I'm sure the local dealership would notice and rat me out. downside to a "lifetime" powertrain warranty.
They say that but there is a federal law that states regular maintenance cannot void warranty so don’t let them get you with that.
@@mattdovi2255 I will have to look into that, my state is horrible with rules and taxes so we will see. Just got my last free oil change, next time i'll see how much they charge.
Ok job. You just seem a little careless towards your Jeep. I've seen other videos which were more thorough.
