  • The RER (French pronunciation: [ɛʁəɛʁ]; French: Réseau Express Régional, "Regional Express Network") is a rapid transit system in France serving Paris and its suburbs. The RER is an integration of a modern city-centre underground rail and a pre-existing set of commuter rail lines. It has several connections with the Paris Métro within the city of Paris. Within the city, the RER functions like the Métro, but as it has fewer stops, the system acts as one of express trains. Since 1999 the network has consisted of five lines: A, B, C, D and E. The RER is still expanding; Line E, which opened in 1999, is planned for westward extension by 2020.

What is the name of the station at the start of the video because I think I've now seen it plenty of times. Can you give me the name in full?

Looks like something you would find in a 3rd world country. I've never seen so badly kept trains. They're rolling out new stock, but it will take ages before the actual crappy and dilapidated one is out.

freewal Well, seems we have the choice between worn out but reliable and new but unreliable. But in general, Paris' RER sucks bad. Problems all the time, the worst one being line B. They have like 80% of on-time performance, which is terrible (not as bad as Rome's metro but still). Unlike the métro, which runs without incident most times. Both systems are completely underfunded and are going through a crisis at the moment.
