Shut the lights in the bathroom, turn on the flash on your phone, hold the phone on the mirror. If you see another room in the mirror, yikes. If you see the bathroom in the mirror, you're dumb.
all you have to do is shut the lights off. two side mirrors only work when there's a lighting contrast between rooms. otherwise it's a see through glass.
Check the fire exit plan.. You can gauge the floor plan from there. If there's a suspicious space near your bathroom.. Chances are, there's still nothing behind it.
The mirror I have on my bedroom door does the same thing. This doesn't indicate that there's a gap behind the mirror, only how the mirror was made. Think about the floor plan. Because people are incredibly stupid. I work in a hotel we do get a fair share of two way mirror accusations. Best one we have ever got was a woman complaining about the apparent two way mirror in the room because she done the finger test and it apparently showed it was a two way mirror. The mirror was mounted on a devider wall in her room that devided the bedroom from living room that is about 4 inches thick and had doorlessways on both sides of the mirror. Basically she complained of a two way mirror that someone could be watching her through when the other side of the mirror is also in her bedroom where she could clearly see its not a two way lol.
@Loki- Some of them do have an IR filter, but I think they're mostly Apple. On my Samsung, I can see the IR laser on my LAM. Something else you can use to test this are TV remotes.
I actually remodel the whole hotel room, before I check in... Re plastering, cement mixing, axle grinding, sawing, nail gun, and complete and total rewiring of the electrics, gadgets and sockets... New toilet and shower cubicle too, while I'm at it.

Tweaker rule #1. Mirror is always the first thing I remove from the wall. Next comes the disassembling. Lamps, phone, AC unit, smoke detectors, tv... etc. You'd be surprised what you might fin under the carpet.
I stayed at several hotels in Europe where the mirror was on the wall shared with the next room but that's not the weirdest thing. The toilet flush valve was on the wall opposite to the toilet like a light switch. That said, a lot of people walk around naked in public and nobody cares so I seriously doubt they would do something like spy through the mirror. They don't care. But like many others pointed out, here in the United States, mirrors are almost always on the wall shared by the hallway. And don't shine lasers in the mirror if you know what's good for you. The intent of this video is to get dumb people to blind them selves.

No its real, I promise. All mirrors have reflective paint on the back. This is the kind. Two way mirrors on the other hand need a filter, forcing the reflective side to be on the front. There will be no gap if you put something to the mirror. Where normally there would be clear glass between the object and reflection
Here's how it really works. "One way glass" isn't really a thing. It has 100% to do with the lighting conditions. You will ALWAYS be able to see from the dark side to the lighted side. If the sides are equal, both people can see each way. To test a mirror, all you need do is darken your room, hold a flashlight flush against the surface. The light will go through and show you what's on the other side, be it sheetrock, if there's a hole for a camera, glue pads holding it, whatever. If it's a real "mirror", it shouldn't be transparent at all. If the clear glass is coated to give it "one way" properties, it can be installed EITHER way. One way will give a gap, flip it over and there will be no gap. How do I know? 30 years in the glass and coating industry.

For real, I know someone who works at a hotel that looks immaculate. Bed bugs would never cross my mind based on how clean it looks. Use a second mirror (or shiny thing like an old iPod) and make it parallel to the mirror. If it's a normal mirror the reflections should continue a long way (like an infinite tunnel effect), but a two way mirror they would get darker quickly as light is being lost through the mirror at each step.
There's no way for you to do that because to get the infinite effect the laser pointer can't be there. Quite literally you'd be aiming it at an angle and you'd never get that effect

Yeah I hear you. We had some biohazard training and that involved us taking of all our chlothes and then run naked across the exercice yard to the decontamination station on the other side. What you really want to do is take a cheap camera, remove the IR Mirror AKA Hot Mirror or Infrared Filter then walk around to see if there’s hidden cameras watching you. They can be hidden in coat hangers, clocks, smoke detectors, wall chargers, pens, mirrors, vents and even outlets. Modifying the camera allows it to see the Infrared lights those cameras have. I used to modify cameras for a paranormal team to see infrared lights.
@@dreamweaver8210 A regular camera that still has the IR filter will only see a dot of light. You can test the amount by pointing a remote control at the camera while holding a button. Some cameras see more than others by default, but when you remove the IR filter the camera sees the remote light similar to a small flashlight. Old SJCAM 4000 which is a cheap action camera can be modified very easily. For best results you’ll need a micro hdmi cable to refocus the lens on a tv.

For people who don't understand why he's doing this, it's because a two sided mirror could mean someone is watching you in your hotel room. It's like a fish tank glass where the fish sees its reflection but we can observe it from the other side. So to check if you have a one or two sided mirror, you can put your finger or an object on the mirror. If there's a space between you and your reflection,then you have a one sided mirror but if there's no space then it's a two sided mirror and you should contact authorities just in case someone could possibly be spying on you and gathering personal info on you.

There’s more than one way to check. Just saying. Ambient lighting is the first way, the second way is sing belt the song Barbie girl at the top of your lungs. @@guillermolledowolkowicz7085 there are several non linear characteristics of a mirror that make this "test" insufficient to spot a two way mirror. Even linear deformations of the reflection will lead to a distorted picture of the laser's image.
There is an easier way to tell if a mirror is two-way or not; simply touch the end of your finger onto the mirror surface; if you do not see a space between your finger and it's reflection - leave - as this is definitely a two-way mirror.

And how exactly does that prove it is a see through mirror?! AND that there is anything malicious going on there? Two sided mirror is just a stupid term, every mirror has two sides... If you neglect the sides of such a nearly planar object. I've been working with mirror glasses for adding light effects in the background. Every mirror has a thin metallic coating, usually on the backside to prevent scratching it. Through this you can still see, the amount of coating determines the transparency of the mirror glass. "Normal" mirrors have an additional layer of coating on the back that doesn't allow looking through. Either way, if you shine a strong light, like that laser, on ANY type of mirror you'll see the big reflection on that wall behind you and a dot of light on that metallic coating, like shown here. So this proves NOTHING about it being a see through mirror or not, could be either. Easiest way is to just look on the side of it if you can see that usually matte back coating.
Beds that hundreds of people have slept in, bugs in the room, they only deep clean the room every 90 days, rude staff, overpriced, and they keep cutting the hours that you can stay there , when I was young 60 years ago, you could check in at 10:00 and check out at 2:00 now you can't check in until 3:00 and you got to check out before noon. It ain't worth it I'd never at any hotel I don't care if it's the five star or three or four I just don't stay at hotels. That's why I travel in a tour bus. And I always have all the Comforts of home. Did any of you know that Motel 6 was called Motel 6 because it only charged $6? I remember paying $6 and the same thing with Motel 8 when they charged $8.
But then, they inevitably made Motel 9. Which was great but was eventually snubbed out by Motel 10- which also suffered the same fate when Motel 11 announced it was expanding to Motel 12 to meet market demands and inflated price margins. Those were the good old days, when someone could murder you and stuff ya in the bedspring unnoticed for years before they deep cleaned. "Motel 11, we'll put your lights out for you!"
@@diyfu I run an Airbnb and have a digital alarm clocks in some of the bedrooms. Every time I go to clean those rooms out I find that the alarm clock is unplugged. I looked up spy cameras and found that a popular spy cam company uses a similar, if not the same host, for their products. That tells me that people are likely more informed than I am regarding the subject. Pretty certain that if someone tried, it wouldn't last long before it was discovered. I've met a lot of Airbnb hosts too and they also do background checks on hosts when you get your account. All are standup people that just want a little extra cash to pay bills. Mine pays for my utilities which is enough for me to do it. If you're a creeper they'd certainly deny your request. I just don't think it happens very often. If it did you'd hear it about it alot. There are more airbnbs than hotels now in the US and might be 1 or 2 spying on guests per year. Don't let the thought of someone watching you sway you away from renting an Airbnb.

Some older hotels with outside room entry will have the plumbing ends of the rooms back to back. Some of these actually have a narrow secret hallway that allows access to the plumbing and fixtures. It wouldn't be as difficult as you think to pop a hole in the wall and swap in a 2 way mirror.

You would probably never be able to find it, even if you were looking for it. FYI, you don't need a lazer. Just darken your room, use a flashlight held directly against the glass surface. If there is a hole, the flashlight will shine right through the reflective coating and you will be able to see what's on the other side. "One way glass" is 100% dependent on which side of the glass has the most light....common misconception from movies...shocking, I know.

I stayed at several hotels in Europe where the mirror was on the wall shared with the next room but that's not the weirdest thing. The toilet flush valve was on the wall opposite to the toilet like a light switch. That said, a lot of people walk around naked in public and nobody cares so I seriously doubt they would do something like spy through the mirror. They don't care. But like many others pointed out, here in the United States, mirrors are almost always on the wall shared by the hallway. And don't shine lasers in the mirror if you know what's good for you. The intent of this video is to get dumb people to blind them selves.

No its real, I promise. All mirrors have reflective paint on the back. This is the kind. Two way mirrors on the other hand need a filter, forcing the reflective side to be on the front. There will be no gap if you put something to the mirror. Where normally there would be clear glass between the object and reflection
Facts
Here's how it really works. "One way glass" isn't really a thing. It has 100% to do with the lighting conditions. You will ALWAYS be able to see from the dark side to the lighted side. If the sides are equal, both people can see each way. To test a mirror, all you need do is darken your room, hold a flashlight flush against the surface. The light will go through and show you what's on the other side, be it sheetrock, if there's a hole for a camera, glue pads holding it, whatever. If it's a real "mirror", it shouldn't be transparent at all.
If the clear glass is coated to give it "one way" properties, it can be installed EITHER way. One way will give a gap, flip it over and there will be no gap.
How do I know? 30 years in the glass and coating industry.

Use a second mirror (or shiny thing like an old iPod) and make it parallel to the mirror. If it's a normal mirror the reflections should continue a long way (like an infinite tunnel effect), but a two way mirror they would get darker quickly as light is being lost through the mirror at each step.
There's no way for you to do that because to get the infinite effect the laser pointer can't be there. Quite literally you'd be aiming it at an angle and you'd never get that effect

He's not wrong though. As a female with little shame to begin with and as much deployment away from my family as was allowed (my family and I do NOT get on, at last not any still alive anyway). One of the biggest issues returning to civilian was remembering some ppl actually care about privacy. I thought absolutely nothing about walking across the house stark naked if I forgot to bring a towel with me. Or warning someone I was about to enter when the may have expected privacy....also the dark humor...that was also a problem.

What you really want to do is take a cheap camera, remove the IR Mirror AKA Hot Mirror or Infrared Filter then walk around to see if there’s hidden cameras watching you. They can be hidden in coat hangers, clocks, smoke detectors, wall chargers, pens, mirrors, vents and even outlets. Modifying the camera allows it to see the Infrared lights those cameras have. I used to modify cameras for a paranormal team to see infrared lights.

@@dreamweaver8210 A regular camera that still has the IR filter will only see a dot of light. You can test the amount by pointing a remote control at the camera while holding a button. Some cameras see more than others by default, but when you remove the IR filter the camera sees the remote light similar to a small flashlight.
Old SJCAM 4000 which is a cheap action camera can be modified very easily. For best results you’ll need a micro hdmi cable to refocus the lens on a tv.

For people who don't understand why he's doing this, it's because a two sided mirror could mean someone is watching you in your hotel room. It's like a fish tank glass where the fish sees its reflection but we can observe it from the other side. So to check if you have a one or two sided mirror, you can put your finger or an object on the mirror. If there's a space between you and your reflection,then you have a one sided mirror but if there's no space then it's a two sided mirror and you should contact authorities just in case someone could possibly be spying on you and gathering personal info on you.

There’s more than one way to check. Just saying. Ambient lighting is the first way, the second way is sing belt the song Barbie girl at the top of your lungs. Then get into the song so much that you "accidentally" break the mirror while getting carried away. Then if there is a two way mirror and person behind it, just stare at them awkwardly and say the verse from Barbie girl "you can brush my hair, undress me every where" while giving them a crazy look.

There is an easier way to tell if a mirror is two-way or not; simply touch the end of your finger onto the mirror surface; if you do not see a space between your finger and it's reflection - leave - as this is definitely a two-way mirror.

Two sided mirror is just a stupid term, every mirror has two sides... If you neglect the sides of such a nearly planar object.
I've been working with mirror glasses for adding light effects in the background. Every mirror has a thin metallic coating, usually on the backside to prevent scratching it. Through this you can still see, the amount of coating determines the transparency of the mirror glass. "Normal" mirrors have an additional layer of coating on the back that doesn't allow looking through.
Either way, if you shine a strong light, like that laser, on ANY type of mirror you'll see the big reflection on that wall behind you and a dot of light on that metallic coating, like shown here. So this proves NOTHING about it being a see through mirror or not, could be either.
Easiest way is to just look on the side of it if you can see that usually matte back coating.

Beds that hundreds of people have slept in, bugs in the room, they only deep clean the room every 90 days, rude staff, overpriced, and they keep cutting the hours that you can stay there , when I was young 60 years ago, you could check in at 10:00 and check out at 2:00 now you can't check in until 3:00 and you got to check out before noon. It ain't worth it I'd never at any hotel I don't care if it's the five star or three or four I just don't stay at hotels. That's why I travel in a tour bus. And I always have all the Comforts of home. Did any of you know that Motel 6 was called Motel 6 because it only charged $6? I remember paying $6 and the same thing with Motel 8 when they charged $8.
But then, they inevitably made Motel 9. Which was great but was eventually snubbed out by Motel 10- which also suffered the same fate when Motel 11 announced it was expanding to Motel 12 to meet market demands and inflated price margins. Those were the good old days, when someone could murder you and stuff ya in the bedspring unnoticed for years before they deep cleaned.

I looked up spy cameras and found that a popular spy cam company uses a similar, if not the same host, for their products. That tells me that people are likely more informed than I am regarding the subject. Pretty certain that if someone tried, it wouldn't last long before it was discovered. I've met a lot of Airbnb hosts too and they also do background checks on hosts when you get your account. All are standup people that just want a little extra cash to pay bills. Mine pays for my utilities which is enough for me to do it. If you're a creeper they'd certainly deny your request. I just don't think it happens very often. If it did you'd hear it about it alot. There are more airbnbs than hotels now in the US and might be 1 or 2 spying on guests per year. Don't let the thought of someone watching you sway you away from renting an Airbnb.

Some older hotels with outside room entry will have the plumbing ends of the rooms back to back. Some of these actually have a narrow secret hallway that allows access to the plumbing and fixtures. It wouldn't be as difficult as you think to pop a hole in the wall and swap in a 2 way mirror.

You would probably never be able to find it, even if you were looking for it. FYI, you don't need a lazer. Just darken your room, use a flashlight held directly against the glass surface. If there is a hole, the flashlight will shine right through the reflective coating and you will be able to see what's on the other side. "One way glass" is 100% dependent on which side of the glass has the most light....common misconception from movies...shocking, I know.
