@@trishaann1616 Yeah, the only bad thing about the death penalty is there has been cases where innocent people have lost their lives. That's why even though I believe someone should not be on death row for many years, they should still hold off for maybe 1 year, just to be safe. Once they know the person without any doubt did it, then they need to be executed.

This is true. And I'm pro death penalty but it needs to be carried out the right way. In the most humane way that you could execute someone. Otherwise we are no better than them. Torturing a person is not right. And it's not like Lethal injection or Electric chair for that matter is an "easy" way to die. Killing someone e.g (capital punishment) is killing someone. There's no way to sterilize that fact. Either way you choose is still a terrible way to die. It is a deterrent imo but those families will never get closure. I still believe in capital punishment but I don't agree with making people suffer

No more stays in order for the same old arguments to work through the courts. There would be no shortage of trained professional volunteers willing to do the job. These convicts are just working the system and the system falls for it nearly every time.
Food for thought.... If these drugs caused excruciating tortuous pain in everyone they were used on, surgeries in this country would have to stop. You can't be using these drugs to sedate citizens before surgery, if they cause excruciating tortuous pain every time they are used. Right?

It's actually the attorneys and general legal system that causes the delay. While there's no law that says that somebody must be on death row for X amount of time, most executions take place 10+ years after sentencing. The defense attorney will look for exonerating evidence right up until the execution is carried out. They'll also have hearing after hearing trying to get the sentence changed to life in prison. Should new evidence be found, that requires a number of hearings. And then there's the psych evaluations. Many states have laws that say you cannot execute somebody who is deemed mentally incompetent to really know what they did. Lawyers will try to prove mental insanity. Great care is taken to make sure that the person being executed is 100% guilty, and they knew mentally what they were doing. And even then, it's estimated that between 2-5% of all the people executed were innocent.

These guys kill and don't think about the consequences. If they don't care about the victims they don't even think of themselves. They think they walk away. No. If they get caught they may be killed. They made their own beds.

I can see the delay being that it's in Nashville but that is a lot of our Tennessee tax money that went into pampering this murderer. I like the law out here in other places where many criminals don't make it to jail or court, southern justice is a good thing

Yeah I’m not saying he’s innocent but you have an average of 4% of death row inmates innocent…. And this is a bigger gap but 2%-10% of inmates are statically innocent. That doesn’t sit right with me I’m not saying victims shouldn’t have closer or victims families but that numbers too high for me to feel comfortable I wouldn’t feel comfortable if 0.00000001% of death row is innocent someone is still be executed for another persons crime…..

And stops the inmate from killing himself, "cheating the hangman", chair, or whatever method used.Execution is a court order and must be obeyed or the prison warden and/or guards involved can technically be held or punished for Contempt/Violation of a court order though rarely done as if the inmate successful does commit suicide, most judges and powers-that-be simply let it go as there is little point in pursuing further.
