@Right Lane Hog agree with you on what you said, however one point I do want to make is that Toyota hasn’t made a Camry with a manual in close to 10 years, and even seeing mid-to-late 2000s Camrys with a stick is pretty rare here in the North American market. Even the fire-breathing Lexus IS350 has never had a manual trans option. I suppose the Tacoma has one available, but it’s RWD and they aren’t selling well at all. Spot on review and agree with everything. From a commuting standpoint buy the hybrid Camry. Amazing fuel economy and the drivetrain is so smooth and pleasant. I picked up a 2020 camry le hybrid and after 4k miles, I'm averaging around 49 to 50 mpg per tank using regular fuel. All 18+ camrys have that transmission issue where they are constantly searching for gears but since the hybrid models use a CVT you have nothing to worry about. Fun car to drive, so comfortable and practical and plenty of power for daily use.
I really like the look and the power. I can see your point with the transmission roaming, im really wanting a trd camry but I think the implementation of either a more reserved transmission setup or usage of paddle shifters would definitely make it a better daily driver.
This guy’s review about the transmission sucks. You wanna hold the gears? Use the pedal shifters. I have no problem with a car going for the highest gear in full auto mode. It’s a twitchy FWD 300 hp car. People need to stop complaining. Buy this car and let the transmission learn your habits.
8:53 bro humbled himself when he noticed the cop. for a sec i thought he was gonna pull him over because i noticed his brake lights came on and he drove off after he passed him lol
For me it's the best sounding v6 that I heard. The exception is the alpha Romeo Ferrari sourced v6. First time in this channel I didn't understand the complaints
It’s alright, nothing more. However at least with the TRD version you don’t get fake exhausts like you do with the SE and XSE versions, something that has always bothered me about this gen of Camry. On the other hand, they should’ve backed it up better with a nicer-sounding exhaust note.
@Battenkill Rambler Honest question; why? The V6 used is exactly the same as on the IS or the Lotus Evora. All engines rated by SAE specs are technically able to produce 1.5times the HP. The transmission is stupid and the FWD hurts the car, but is this not something a ECU-controller and the LSD can fix?
Great Review. I am quite suprised that the you said the Hybrid is more satisfying to drive than this car. Wow. I wonder if an LSD/or AWD would make the V6 a better drive.
You can thank Gret chen Whit mer for those Smooth Michigan Roads...🥴 I automatically could tell you were close to me soon as I opened the video. Nothing beats a firm suspension going over potholes. 👌🏽
Wow, I'm actually impressed by the Camry TRD, I don't think y'all so how fast he was taking those corners and the transmission I feel it just needs an ECU tune, I have a friend with a regular v6 Camry and he solved the problem by just re tuning it, but this is good deal to me.

The cars computer will automatically kick in and up shift you that’s what he’s saying, i have the 2019 xse. So essentially you don’t have a normal paddle shifter like other cars.
Dude you're so right about the trans. I have gotten uber rides from a lot of camry's. Oddly mostly all of them were V6's and the constantly downshifting the car did with any throttle input the driver did actually made me nauseous. Highway wasn't that bad but it was city driving. The car wants to end up in 8th gear at 40mph, then as soon as the driver touches the gas, i hear the engine scream as it downshifts, then it'll quickly upshift 2 more gears, then driver touches the gas again, and it'll downshift making the engine scream again, then it'll quickly up shift 2 gears etc. I thought something was wrong with the car because i know uber drivers beat up their cars. But after watching your video, i say this is normal for camry. It's the worst lol

Fun car to drive, so comfortable and practical and plenty of power for daily use.
that v6 sounds meannnnn
I never get sick of looking at this car.
J35 / J37 sounds better
@9:00 I'm pretty sure that cop started pulling on to the road to pull him over. Explains why it cut right after
It’s alright, nothing more. However at least with the TRD version you don’t get fake exhausts like you do with the SE and XSE versions, something that has always bothered me about this gen of Camry. On the other hand, they should’ve backed it up better with a nicer-sounding exhaust note.
Just go Audi. Problem solved.
@@davevolz6138 Even they have fake exhausts too if you didn't notice lol
@@davevolz6138 and break down at 80k
Just get a Maseratti. Problem done
@@gonzalo4658 oh so you want a car that depreciates just for existing
Fell in love with these ones during my trip in Dubai where they are using it as a taxi. Great car
Man I wish this had a 6 speed manual option.. I'd totally buy this for my next car if it did.
Is it just me or is Toyota and Honda actually making some beautiful cars better than ever now.
A Supercharger will be a good compliment for it
@Battenkill Rambler Honest question; why? The V6 used is exactly the same as on the IS or the Lotus Evora. All engines rated by SAE specs are technically able to produce 1.5times the HP. The transmission is stupid and the FWD hurts the car, but is this not something a ECU-controller and the LSD can fix?
I’ve never driven a Camry but I have always loved their style. I have Tacoma at the moment but eventually I’ll end up with a Camry.
Topher did u get pulled over by that cop?
He definitely did!
@@johnchapman7650 lol
Upgrade!? I'm going to get a 2020 toyota camry trd when I grow up and try to afford this car.😎
Great Review. I am quite suprised that the you said the Hybrid is more satisfying to drive than this car. Wow. I wonder if an LSD/or AWD would make the V6 a better drive.
Fuel economy
The build for reliability is still the goal for this model i hope, explaining how little the mechanicals have changed
10:28 no manual shifting mode?, there are clearly shift paddles behind the steering wheel
We’re talking about STICK shift
Grandma Karen it does have a computer stick shifter
you can shift gears but then the computer takes over after some time and shifts the gear even tho you may want to stay in the same gear.
Rhrishikesh Sane i can confirm, i have xse 2019
@@glepp same thing happens on my 2018 accord sport. Its dumb tbh.
You can thank Gret chen Whit mer for those Smooth Michigan Roads...🥴
I automatically could tell you were close to me soon as I opened the video.
My 2nd favorite type of POV videos
9:04. Ooh there’s a cop 😄
Naveen Krishnamurthy notice how there was a cut right after the cop started to pull away and then we were not able to see what time it was on the screen for the rest of the video.
@@GXKid06 Yeah, he 100% got pulled over 😂😂
@@seanbond1008 It was 9:54 when we saw the cop. He was flooring it on the freeway onramp at 9:56 (shown in instrument cluster display). I don't think he got pulled over, but it sounded like he got nervous once the cop was on the move...
@@garrettw99 Ahh okay I didn't notice the second time, since the main screen switched from menu to navigation after the cut. Did not notice there was also a clock in the instrument cluster.
Probably got pulled over lol
Yah. Thinking on getting it. It gives me that childhood feel when I first saw The Fast and the Furious.
Smoked plenty of sti’s with my Camry trd. I love mine
Doing ricer fly by's isn't smoking anyone
CJ 🤣 he’s smoking crack bro
Were they racing you?
Stis are slow lol.
@@alexmustata4089 low 5 second 0-60 isn't slow
I would get one in the future. I wish ma old Camry was sporty like this 😒 I woulda kept it! Nice review bro!
Rear wing is too aggressive/ricerish. Should be more subtle
Kevin Breese a lip
You subtle in this class, check out the new Subaru Legacy
9:00 Lol you were gonna accelerate then there's a cop sitting under the bridge.
I'll never be able to afford a brand new car in my life time so I watch your videos on full screen in my 2004 Toyota Camry Le V6.
veer Chaudhary yeah you will get your credit decent and save a lil bit for a down payment and you’ll get one if you want one in the future. Don’t ever say never my friend
Love the very honest review. Not worth 31k in my opinion but Toyota made a great move with this car. Waiting on the avalon trd now
TRD cars always seem to be just an assortment of TRD parts put on at the factory for convenience, rather than a cohesively tuned up car. Not much effort was put into this car and it shows.
Toyotas getting lazy. I ll try Audi next time.
Dave Volz why would you pay over 50k on a sedan when all the car is gonna do is cause maintenance problems.
Nonsense, what about the tacoma, tundra, 4runner.... they all have special tunings and equipments
I have to ask. Did that cop pull you over?
$31k and it has no:
Parking sensors
Sun roof
Heated seats
HID head lights
LED tail lights
Birds eye camera
Rear vents
Rear center cup holders
Rear view mirror is basic af
No heads up display
But you get 301hp, a jazzy spoiler and some rims 🥴
The only thing on that list that I would actually want is HID headlights, the rest are cookie cutter features
It doesn't have HIDs cause it has LEDs. HIDs are a thing of the past, even luxury cars don't use HIDs anymore..
So for the same price 4 door what would you get
You can get a fusion sport for more hp and better features.
To me, it needed bigger infotainment and dual climate.
Honest review with some great points to consider. Thanks!
lol @ 9:05 that cop seemed to be coming after you, he was suspicious :)
9:04, For a second I thought that cop was coming after you. I saw him pull out from his spot after you drove by. The car doesn't sound half bad by the way. I think that's the same powerplant they use in the Lotus Evora.
1:15 Boy, does that sound beautiful...
😂😂 you obviously haven’t sat in a lot of cars
The highway patrol was on his nap time, your drive-by woke him up, and he started to drive...
i can see the paddle shifter from here. come on man great review but before you bash how the car shifts, make sure you are positive about features that are not there. besides that good review
The cars computer will automatically kick in and up shift you that’s what he’s saying, i have the 2019 xse. So essentially you don’t have a normal paddle shifter like other cars.
9:00 Did you get pulled over? I noticed the cop pulled out right after you passed him.
Jake just curious, what years were those V6 Camrys you rode in? I am looking at buying a 2012-2017 Camry V6 possibly
Never thought i would ever see the day where i would see a muscled out camry
They have to compete now seeing what kia does.
Hey Topher!
Love your content and am getting more into car maintenance and getting to know the ins and outs of the mechanics of a car. I'm doing this because I recently bought my first car, a 2020 Corolla SE 6MT.
If you could do a POV on my car that would be really helpful!
Congratulations on your sensible purchase decision. The SE manual is the best option in the Corolla lineup for people who like driving but don't want to waste money on frills.
@@rightlanehog3151 thanks! Hopefully Topher sees this I'd like his honest opinion on the way it drives.
Congrats, what color did you go with?

Very interesting view on the TRD. I settled for the 4 cyl SE
nothing like having a lowered car from the factory. This thing would be impractical as a daily...the world just isn't setup for super low cars.
No?
It's a very sharp looking car, definitely in the family sedan segment
1:20 this has a Helmholtz chamber!??
I think so!
