Then when he was using his ultimate attack like that, he might think that his power either able to pierce nanao's zanpakuto power or it is still being reflected and obliterate him, so it is gambling.

I mean, he has one of the most broken Ranged Sure Hit abilities across fiction, can you rly blame the guy.
Not much more he could do except to attack and hoped he won. Nanao's zanpakto is literally a "no you", can't really win against that.
