I’d suggest to fix that heat wrap ASAP. Don’t want to see your v12 Mercedes go up in flames. Also it’s always a good idea to have a fire extinguisher in your vehicle
Your airbox isn't a real problem... The real issue is the brake master... Brake fluid is flammable and WILL catch fire if it hits red hot header pipe..!!

The SL450 is the smallest engine available. I guess he was trying to compensate that with the AMG badge haha he definitely put that on there himself. But still the SL is a lovely car.

I don’t know but since the beginning I felt like that exhaust system is clogging the V12 very badly and I think that’s why the engine is overheating on you, now I see it melted the heat wrap and I think it kinda confirms my thoughts about it. Don’t get me wrong I like the insane V12 sound of it but the engine can’t breathe well with it.

Hey effspot, if this has been commented on then my bad... But heat wrap can and is still used on quite a few Top Fuel Dagster's to this day, so it definitely didn't melt off. Usually made up of Basalt fibre and Titanium they're good for up to 1200°C . It will get brittle over time, but not melt. That looks like a friction cut, somethings rubbed on the wrap, and opened it up. And that opening has released a concentrated amount of heat to any corresponding components.
