As I walk through this world Nothing can stop the Duke of Earl And you, you're my girl And no one can hurt you, oh no Yes I’m gonna love you Nothing can stop me now 'Cause I'm the Duke of Earl And when I hold you You will be my Duchess, the Duchess of Earl We’ll walk through my dukedom And the paradise we will share Yes I Oh, I'm gonna love you Come on let me hold you darling Cause I'm the Duke of Earl Yes I Oh, I'm gonna love you Come on let me hold you darling Cause I'm the Duke of Earl
Outstanding vocal range. This is the type of song considered to be complete bullshit-filler-type-material, but the lead singer of the Pixies demonstrates his vocal range here magnificently
black francis has used falsetto in some Pixies songs (like Caribou), but I didn't know he had this control, he should've pulled out this trick more often in other songs
This song inspired a crappy screenplay out of me. Wanted to title it “the duke of earl” and wanted this song for it’s end credits. Also this song was played at my wedding. I love this song, but the original always got on my darn nerves.
I’ve listened to this song so much over the years. FB is the king
Love him! So underrated
As I walk through this world
Nothing can stop the Duke of Earl
And you, you're my girl
And no one can hurt you, oh no
Yes I’m gonna love you
Nothing can stop me now
'Cause I'm the Duke of Earl
And when I hold you
You will be my Duchess, the Duchess of Earl
We’ll walk through my dukedom
And the paradise we will share
Yes I
Oh, I'm gonna love you
Come on let me hold you darling
Cause I'm the Duke of Earl
Yes I
Oh, I'm gonna love you
Come on let me hold you darling
Cause I'm the Duke of Earl

I think that the song itself is great! And you’re right, this man is a near-peerless rhythm guitar player and rock and roll singer!

Was this on an accompaniment CD to his debut album? Never heard it before.
