I was born in 1997 and I'm into songs from before my time. There are some songs from my time I enjoy but I was never the type who likes to follow trends. I prefer to do my own thing.
loved this when they brought it out I was a teenager and this song along with the group got me through so many times. Later in life I met a great guy we became best of friends brother in laws as he married my partners sister, found out he loved this song too. A few years later we were driving to work in the morning when we were in a fatal crash everyone died incurring me but got brought back 3 times that day. Now when I hear this amazing song I always remember the man I loved to call Brother
That’s a bit over the top, isn’t it? You want to cry because you were alive at the time when the darts were releasing records yes I get you appreciation of the music but saying you want to cry because you were alive at the same time bloody weird and over emotional. Gorge people post some shite in comment sections. 2:56
Saw them recently in Derby all the original band members. Brilliant it was like being invited to attend their party they have so much fun on stage. The voices are still great and Den is dafter 😅😅
21 years old. Found this when I was 14 and fell in love with the song and similar ones. Maybe not what is expected from people my age but I don’t care it’s very much a toe tapper!
I was nine. It was the year my mom left my dad, brother and me. Had to grow up pretty fast after that, but this song always brought a smile to my face. 💜
one of the best songs they ever sung and just by watchng this video you can see how they all enjoyed making thier music singing thier songs and enjoying each others company, under estimated band ... i think they are brilliant so amazing,
I believe Gene Chandler's original was a US number 1 in the early 60s. Out of the blue,he had a revival hit in the UK in very early 1979 with a disco track called Get Down!
One thing I don't like is remakes where they overdo it, many times to cover for lack of ability. This was not like that and it was done just about perfectly. Just done in a slightly different, more upbeat and demonstrative way without being overdone. Great job. More life to a great classic.
I dont claim to be ever a singer but i loved this type of music and one night i sang it a local pub and the locals joined in ..that was many years ago but I still sing it around the house brilliant ....
I'll outdo your misspent youth. I lost my virginity to this song in a neighbour's shed...with my girlfriend straddled over a dustbin...and my cousin with his girlfriend behind me and just across from us...although he wasn't getting any off her. Aaah, happy days.
My mates were into the jam and the police . This group were something your parents liked so you weren't supposed to but I loved them , Still do . If it weren't for losing everything I have today I wish so much that I could return to those days .

@@youremybiggestfan The 50s songs never had the production values of later on, this was produced by Roy Wood, heard of him?, go find See my baby jive, I like the Gene Chandler version, but Darts and Roy Wood took it up a notch and then some, theres no comparison to the two.
I like the song in general but what makes this stick is out is the melody and rhythm makes it different much more catchier it actually accentuates the song in a different level. Love it.
Remember these guys running around the Prince of Wales car park in West Wales drunk as skunks, returning from some wedding in Ire? was a laugh it was.... must have been 79 or 80. Us locals just stood back in awe.
I'm 58 and loved this song from the first time I heard it.
2023, and still listening this song. That means it must be good.
I was 14 at the time & totally obsessed with this song. 42 years later (!!) it's still a belter.
Where do the years go. 57 this year and all this seems like just yesterday.
Snap
Seemed a bit of a novelty act at the time , oh how I long for those times .

...TRY THE ORIGINAL BY GENE CHANDLER

Pity Den wasn't still part of this glorious ensemble of pure talent. Still Absolute Top Draw! 💜
For me Den made this band with his loud suits and crazy dancing.

I wish you had called me
If I would have known where you were I might have called you, it was great fun and they were really down to earth people.
It’s so lovely to hear a song that’s all about the British nobility.
is it, is it really. It's all about love.
This was the first 7" single I ever bought as a little girl in 1979. Innocent times.
I want to back to that time and stay there forever.
awesome cover
