To my knowledge DarkViper himself said that there is no evidence the run was cheated and that all his annoyence was because he wasn't the first one to complete the run and it was in a way rubbed in his face and also because the runner didn't share strategies with the public. He also said it is perfectly possible that the run was legit.
Aye. DVAU released a video addressing this on his channel. He chose to avoid associating with UnNameD, but never once called them a cheater to my knowledge. This seems to me like a fair response, given that UnNameD *did* grant themself an advantage over an uneven playing field (hoarding strats while using DarkViper's) but nevertheless succeeded in a legitimate run.
Viper doesn't like it when you share OHKO strats with him and UnNameD did share his strats with Viper to add insult to injury. UnNameD didn't "brag" either since you need proof before making a serious accusation. Public? OHKO is not a speedrun category as it's a challenge run and there is only two people taking OHKO seriously and that's Viper and UnNameD.
@@lordkalpa5254 UnNameD did share his strats with Viper so Viper was lying about him "hoarding" strats and UnNameD has an advantage regardless. Viper doesn't like it when you share OHKO strats with him either. Think about it. Viper needs to practice while UnNameD knows his strats and the OHKO strats from Viper inside and out.
@@ephraimtimmerman4476 Yeah, OHKO has just made it so he's not got the time to edit something like Pacifist. It's holding literally all the content back.
@@damigamermx-us8291 Yeah that's the only way he can "beat" this. Only by finding strats for hitless Deathwish ending. Maybe after this he'll stop being a pussy and attempt it.
I just think it's unfortunate that matt didn't get it considering he's been developing strats and attempting it for over a year. That's the thing about luck tho, it could take one man a million tries to accomplish something while taking another man 40
Yeah, it's very possible UnNameD watched Matt and used his strats. But that's one major con of streaming as you figure out strats. That being said, Matt got lots of views- both twitch and RUclips from his OHKO runs. I must admit, the fact that UnNameD did not stream his run live made me skeptical (like you could die and reload the last main save like it did not happen for that section of the run/video). But the time stamps of everything shown in this video make that very improbable. Congratulations to UnNameD for the first OHKO run. Though I also understand why Matt was so pissed (UnNameD was gloating in his Discord.. that would be hard to take after spending so much time on the challenge).
nah, it's a bit more than that. Matt is stressed out, he admits all the time that he gets less sleep then he should and he often ponders how his life may have turned out if he did X or Y, he has been feeling very nostalgic for older comforts, he mentioned a story where he went to see his mom and forgot his sandals/flip-flops/whatever but then he went back over and still forgot them. this is not just stories that makes for on screen banter, it to me and many others is showing OHKO is like a white whale to him the Jerry to him feeling like Tom. So when he does complete it, I'm not sure he will go back to 100% or Trevor% ... only time may tell. Also, stress makes you worse under intense parts of the game.
That’s the real problem actually, that Matt hadn’t done it sooner. He’d been at it almost a year, which is just too long. He was tempting fate that someone would do it.
@@oisin4601 No, I wasn’t implying he failed on purpose. But, after a year Matt needed to seriously reassess the situation. Someone was bound to do it. He either needed to increase his frequency of attempts, which would have meant reducing his other streaming work. Or, he needed to wonder if he was doing something very wrong strategically. One possibility occurred to me from watching Matt’s attempts, was if his reliance on alt-strat was increasing his game time far too much. Longer game time means giving more opportunity for RNG to play apart. Look how fast UnNameD played! But that’s what I meant.
One thing you heard from doubters often was that the guy who did it was an unknown. This argument ignores that not all talented gamers are streamers. There are a huge number of extremely skilled gamers who just play. Also, as far as I know, no other streamer was attempting it, so if DarkViperAU didn’t do it, then it would have to be an unknown.
@@AverageAlien I don't think he was bein salty, all he was saying that it sucked that he wasn't the first to complete it considering he's been trying to complete 0HKO for a good while but he never said that UnNameD's run was illegitimate or fake
At the end of the day a OHKO run is mostly about luck and RNG you can have all the strats in the world and still die, in this case UnNameD was lucky enough to not get hit and so far darkviperau just hasn't been lucky. As far as uploading out of the blue, not everyone likes to record themselves day in and day out this guy could have been practicing offscreen for months and months.

@@rufus451 Not sure what you're getting at; I'm not really trying to compare the games or strats in that statement, rather just the seemingly "out of nowhere" wow-factor both situations had on the general viewing audience at the time, and that both situations were instantly met with suspicion of cheating, as well.
Thats still one of the the funniest moment in speedrunning history to me, an old dude comes out of nowhere and creates a new strat that made half of the speedrunners quit
After watching the run itself and then this video, I'm glad that I remained unbiased and didn't jump on the cheating accusations bandwagon until there was actual evidence of cheating (which there still isn't). Saying this as a rational Dviper fan, I'm gutted for him to struggle with this for over a year just for someone else to take the glory, but that's life. Bad things happen sometimes and you have to accept them and move on.
Why would anyone of you remotely care who does it. Because one dude stream him trying everyday on twitch, he just deserves it more or something? Cause all of you all are talking like it was stolen from dark viper and the other dude didn't have to work as hard or something or that dark viper just deserves it more. Why even care that much.
In my opinion darkviper still will win. He has shared all of his strategies in depth for others to use while this guy has a fraction of the gameplay as darkviper and hasn't explained his strategies.
the internet has become a land of guilty until proven innocent, instead of the other way around. Im glad you were able to clear up some of the "discrepancies" from a nonbiased standpoint. Cheers
Well, if you post a speedrun (or challenge run), then you need to have evidence that it's legit. Rule of "guilty until proven innocent" is exactly why cheaters are found out. It SHOULD NOT be the other way around. Last time people didn't have to proof their runs to be legit, Billy Mitchell and Todd Rogers became celebrities. i think unnamed with moderators gathered enough evidence to prove his innocence. Difference between him and Viper might be in different version of game (as some mechanics and strats work differently between steam and R* launcher), or just luck.
@@W00JDA A lot of the evidence was already there like the inconsistent ragdoll damage but some people just don't know anything about the game and still insist on flapping their lips and if you're going to accuse someone, you need real proof.
@@PerfectAzrael YES. im just stating that being suspicious is just safer. Now there's plenty of proofs of his innocence, but people were too angry and ignorant to ask or look for them.
@@W00JDA Being suspicious is not the same as ‘guilty until proven innocent’. You have to prove it’s cheated either way. Actual ‘guilty until proven innocent’ would result in someone having to explain all the reasons why a run is legitimate, which is harder to do since things that are supposed to happen are frequent and mundane. Pointing out flaws is much easier, because they stand out when discovered.
Great video! Matt also mentions in all his OHKO runs about the red health bar, so people that believe Unnamed faked his run didn't even watch DarkViper's, because he explaines those things every time. I also wanted to report some things that Matt said in his video talking about Unnamed (btw I strongly suggest to watch that after this video): he said that Unnamed used a couple of strats he never saw before, thus being a bit annoying cause speed runners usually share strats. He also said that he was annoyed by people shoving Unnamed's run in his face, wanting to mock him and make him fell like a failure. Keep in mind that what i wrote could be a variation of what he said and you still need to hear from the sources to get the whole picture.
And unamed claimed he tried to contact matt but didn't get a reply, and that matt mentioned several times he wanted to do it himself. Also, that's bullshit, if someone dosent stream or participate in a community he's not worthy? Ever heard of the mirrors edge speedrunner back in the day who broke the game not having access to any community resources or anything?
So Darkviper is crying because some random guy that maybe didn't want to participate in his "sharing starts because community" thing beat a OHKO Run in GTA? (one of if not the most RNG heavy game off all time) Jesus Christ I'm glad I left his community after the SOG thing. Matt is so full of himself it's actually crazy. Guy may need some serious help at some point. Maybe get a social life going or something because my god he hasn't had one of those in years.
@@shacharronzohar6960 There's a difference between being angry and annoyed. Matt was annoyed not angry. He only got angry when others started mocking him for not doing it first.
@@Xeno574 that's false, the way he replied to the reddit post showed anger, lack of restraint, and immaturity. As a public figure he has a much bigger responsibility using his voice then a normal person.
I have some information about Trevor's lines at the beginning of Nervous Ron. When you play the mission for the first time in a GTA V session, he says the "make a stop at Ammu-Nation" line. And then when you die, he says the "swing by Ammu-Nation" line. From there, it flips between the two lines consistently. This is also consistent with mission replays, with no change in pattern. Interestingly enough, when you start Nervous Ron in a mission replay, mission fail, exit the replay then re-enter the mission replay, then it plays the "swing by" line, as if the alternating between the two lines continue outside of the mission. This also occurs when you load a save, play Nervous Ron, mission fail, then reload that save and play the mission again. However, when you load a different save after mission failing, it will play the "make a stop" line, as if it was the first time the mission was played. But when you go back to the first save and play the mission, it will play the "swing by" line. The only time where everything here gets reset is when you exit and re-enter the game.
Not really. Many speedrunners of GTA V often play multiple runs in one session (not all of them successful), and of course they end up encountering this mechanic. Even some of DarkViperAU's runs include Trevor saying the "swing by" line the first time. This of course does not count as cheating because it makes sense that he would make multiple attempts in that session, which means that he would eventually encounter this bit at some point. I posted the comment in hopes of clearing this up a little bit so that a more informed and educated analysis can be given (not saying the video isn't well informed as it is, it actually did a good job imo). To be honest, i would have found it slightly stranger if the "make a stop" line had been used during UnNameD's run. The "swing by" line being present in this run signifies that multiple attempts at this OHKO run have been made, including at least 1 prior attempt that made it to Nervous Ron. Anyways, hope that helps :)
Thank you for making this video. It sickened me to see how UnNameD was smeared and dislike bombed for effectively winning a race. To see him actually properly defended instead of just being shat on is reassuring.
The run was always a little sketchy to me, but I’m glad to see they were ultimately just coincidences. I’m just a little disappointed the Matt couldn’t do it firsts, but congrats to UnNameD for actually pulling it off
Even I could have disproved around half of these discrepancies because I've seen all of DV's attempts (the youtube VODs). He's explained the mechanics behind more than what is shown in this video, so I don't understand why some of his other fans thought they'd hold any water.
It's because all their accusations stem from their anger that their one true god didn't get to do it first, not actual skepticism, no reasoning, no logic, just blind hatred. You can see they even dislike bombed all the proves I have given, which weren't even needed in the first place, if you have played the game more than once, you could easily know about all these things.
@@arhamsaa It's not just because people were upset it wasn't Matt. The run was as sketchy as it possibly could have been. The guy came out of nowhere, clearly didn't have good knowledge of the game, deleted past recordings. Even if he isn't cheating I still have my doubts. There's nothing proving that he 100% did not splice his run by doing it in parts on youtube whereas Matt has done everything live. Also the attitude of the guy as explained by Matt in his video comes off as really spiteful. The guy did the run and then went into the discord talking shit and making Matt feel like shit. Almost as if the only reason why he did the run was so Matt wasn't the first. The last time I saw someone in a speedrun community like this the guy was eventually found to be a cheater even after multiple people had "legitimized" him. He also didn't live stream the game. My opinion, live streaming the run should be a standard in running games as it takes away any possibility of the run being spliced. I can't trust UnNamed's run because of this. Not because I'm mad Matt didn't do it first. Don't throw people like myself in with the rest of the unreasonable people. His run can be legitimized by mods and if it's official then so be it, doesn't mean I have to trust the circumstances in which he completed the run nor the word of the moderators as they can be wrong too. As I've seen plenty of trustworthy mods be wrong before.

As soon as I heard the news, I wasn't skeptical, just felt bad for DarkViperAU, as I definitely understood his frustration; being beaten to the finish line by someone who came out of nowhere, achieving something he'd been attempting so long.
Yea his frustration are fair. As were some of his actions after the fact because you know some people would rub it in that he didn't do it first. Which surely gets tiring quickly
This is exactly my feelings, he worked hard developing strats, spent days trying and and then had it snatched away by someone completely unknown, I feel his pain, completing it now won't have nearly the same impact as it would have if he had gotten there first
I get why some unknown user wouldn't have a wide inventory of previous footage. Personally, I wouldn't continue streaming practice on Twitch for 0 users. Its hard for someone new to get users. So without an audience, why worry about clips? Just post the finished run. Also, if your computer isn't good enough streaming isn't always ideal. Could lag the game depending on your specs. I fully understand why a seemingly random user comes out of nowhere with a run like this. I get also why people would be skeptical of that. Thats why you have mod reviewers. If they conclude its fair, its fair.
I was a huge fan of Matt and was the sole reason I made a Twitch account. Stood by him in many instance like his feud with Baron and Appollo (the earlier one). But soon his tantrums and needless rants made me a bit distant from him. However, his reaction to OHKO getting completed by someone other than himself was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Every great player in any game can get overtaken by anyone at any time, but ranting over it just shows how really small of a person you are from the inside.
As someone who has spliced runs before, it is a lot more effort to splice the run than just to practice and do the run in one go, you have to go back and play the same mission over and over again until you get the run you want and that gets frustrating after a while. And the consequences of splices are a lot worse than just submitting a run that breaks a rule on accident, like, accidentally running in a no special movements category cause apparently running is considered a special movement in some catagories, your run would just get removed, but you won’t get banned, (hopefully)

The only thing I’m suspicious about is the fact that alt Strat has proven to be very useful yet unnamed didn’t use the Strat at all throughout his whole run
@@ananmaymukherjee8162 wtf, that's odd, so gta is indeed different from the epic games store compared to steam version like forza horizon 4 from the microsoft store is different from the steam version where if you try to play multiplayer (convoy) with each other the steam player's game is bound to crash at some point.
I'm not sure if it is an issue with the Epic Games Store version. Remember alt-strat is only useful for OHKO and not many other people are doing it. The circumstances in which it either works or doesn't work are not well known. We know that you have to have low-distance scaling but it's also possible that FPS has something to do with it. One of the speedrunning rules is that you must limit your game to 140fps to limit these FPS dependent issues but it's easily possible that alt-strat doesn't work if your FPS is lower than that. Also, UnNamed did use alt-strat briefly at the beginning of Paleto Score.

@@Outcastic There's being perfect and then there is being absolutely stupid since even imperfect people don't do half the toxic sore loser shit Viper did to UnNameD. That's just how sad and bad Viper is at the same time since this is the lowest of lows for Viper and an okay contender for almost the lowest of all of humanity. Viper is not down to earth unless you don't understand statistics since he's less down to earth than 1% of youtube.
I hate when people throw accusations around without proof. With no proof of tampering with the run, the only verdict that you should be rendering is not guilty.
Not a speedrun expert here but how do we know that he didn't have multiple attempts at Part 2 & Part 3 of the run by loading the previous save file? I.e. if the run dies part way through Part 3, instead of restarting from the beginning he could have loaded the Part 2 save file and restarted from there. It's much easier to complete one third of the game without a random RNG death. The time difference between creation of each video file would allow a number of attempts at each part within within the timeline shown here (14th AM, 14th PM and 15th AM), e.g. he could have attempted Part 3 multiple times overnight on the 14th until finally completing it without dying on the 15th. Then just upload them and say they are parts of the same run. The fact it wasn't live streamed means this could never be proven. Whereas whenever DVAU dies on stream he clearly restarts from North Yankton.
I think it's a very ineffective way of cheating, that's why I think it's legit. He took weird breaks at times instead of taking a break before the obvious dangerous missions like Minor Turbulence, Dead Man Walking, The Big Score and I think he didn't take a break before those missions so no one accuses him of cheating. Why would you save and then have to deal with beating tons of missions before you can try again on the mission you "died" in?
@@PerfectAzrael It's easier to "get lucky" in 20 mission repeats than it is in the full 69 missions. So if a person were to run GTA 5 in 20 mission intervals, only cherry picking the ones that they did not die, it would be easier than running the entire 69 missions from North Yankton. Just start again from the middle, saving time and getting better chances to beat OHKO.
@@PerfectAzrael That would be too obvious. Instead the run is split into roughly 3 hour chunks, which doesn't raise as much suspicion. E.g. if he died on The Big Score he would only have had to repeat 2.5 hrs rather than 8.5 hrs of gameplay. It would be much quicker and avoids repeating the risky missions in Part 1 and Part 2. Quite an effective way of cheating really

After watching Dark Viper's response to the controversy it's pretty clear he's got some sort of egotistical issue he needs to sort out. I don't care much about Dark Viper but I've seen a few instances recently, including this now, of him lashing out at other people for doing something he's done or is trying to do and 'taking his spotlight'. He lashed out on twitter at some GTA RP creators who tried out the GTA V chaos mod. One content creator tweeted at another GTA RP content creator thanking them for being a "trendsetter" in a light hearted way as they now planned on trying it out too for their channel, which caused others in that community to try it out as well. Dark Viper then enters the thread on the offensive claiming he and others in his community "deserve credit" for being one of the first to play chaos mod and being the original "trendsetters". Personality wise it seems like he has a major ego issue, he really doesn't seem to like other's being in his metaphorical "spotlight", doing what he does. Maybe he feels threatened they'll do it better or something, which in this case, UnNameD did since he was first. 😶
Matt always playing the victim and could do no wrong. Thinks he's the head of the speedrunning community and has to have a say on everything. His controversy video was like a summary of how nasty a person he is. Indirectly encouraged his buffoonish followers to attack Unnamed on his run videos, used invalid technical arguments knowing his fans are dumb and biased enough to believe them, went as far as downplaying Unnamed's run under the excuse that this one doesn't have to be an entertaining content creator thus he techincally had it easier, and used his personal pain resulting from the defeat as an argument for why Unnamed's run shouldn't count. As well as balantly lying about other stuff that he got exposed for on Reddit. And let's not forget bad mouthing Unnamed and calling him a scum**** on a livestream. The fact that he's the only speedrunner who felt offended with the achievement and made a drama out of it shows just how insecure and egotistical he is.
I like how the main point of the video isn’t about catching a potential cheater, it’s about getting the real facts of the situation regardless of what they may be or show
The way he segmented the run is perfect. So he didn't load a previous save, he paused the game and left it in the background of his PC. So part 2 picks up right where part 1 ended, and it shows the in game clock proving it was not a reloaded save

Great video!
So, youre saying he cheated?
Anyways, hope that helps :)

crazy to see how lucky he got to not have taken damage in these situations. DVAU said many times that the run does involve a bit of luck and unnamed was fortunate enough to be more consistent with it. I feel for DVAU but i want to see him finish. props to unnamed for being the first to do it.
I’m glad you did a video going over the run like this. I’m a DViper fan, but I didn’t know much about this situation other than it happened, so I was waiting to see a proper analysis of it
Pisses me off how people on the internet do this brigading. It just serves no purpose. I'm a fan of DVAU and I was suspicious at first, but in no way did I just assume it was faked. I agree, this video does discredit any attempts to illegitimatise this run. I still feel bad for DVAU though, since he developed essentially all the strategies for this run, and is responsible for a viable attempt to even be possible. I fully understand his anger on the matter, and yet even he wasn't claiming the run was invalid, even if he did remark that it was suspicious.
what I cant agree with him is the fact he hasn't even congratulated Unnamed for the feat, this was a bit of bad sportsmanship on my mind
@@olivierrodriguesneto5995 why would he congratulate Unnamed he used his Strats (Yes i know Strats and meant to be shared) and while he was attempting a OHKO run DViper did say that after he completes his run he'll congratulate Unnamed but people from his community or some other people started calling him out saying he's bad at the game and stuff like that so he got pissed and just thought he wouldn't talk about unnamed anymore in his streams and I think there is a video where he talks about this stuff in his channel

edit: some1 posted it but it was deleted
Im a big fan of DarkViper and i didnt hear about this until now and i feel ashamed that people just blindly accused him of cheating without checking the facts first. Its like they wanted that it was cheated so Matt would be the first one to beat OHKO so they tried their best to find "evidence" that he cheated, which obviously didn't work out for them. What i find hilarious that few of the "discrepancies" has been explained by Matt himself in the newest runs so do they even watch DarkViper lol.
My verdict is that i am little sceptical because he just came out of nowhere and did something very difficult, but its totally not uncommon to be really good at a videogame even though you don't stream/make videos. I also find it odd that he risked taking damage ragdolling in Complications but hey, were human, we make bad decisions sometimes. But as we saw there was really no way he could have possibly cheated so congrats for him
According to the description its his 48th attempt, presumably being a speedrunner he'd have recorded all of his attempts, and i'd personally like if all the 47 other attempts were made public.
@@hard_drive.system
To view it in a basic way, Matt showed many strats and tricks in his streams. So there is the "Knowledge"
If you then take someone who has played GTA for thousands of hours (as speedrun or in general, doesn't matter) you get the "Skill" part..
Let that player watch Matt's streams, observe tactics and strategies, might even look for minor mistakes that Viper does but doesn't realize himself and you can get a pro OHKO speedrunner.
He doesn't need to make 47 prior attempts public, it wouldn't prove anything. Like I said, someone could to it in ~10 attempts or less if he uses the provided knowledge, is good anough at the game and yes.. gets lucky.
@@K1NG_of_ReVeNGe1 It would not change anything, I'd just like to see where he failed in the other 47, if he hadn't deleted them anyways due to them being failed runs. You act as if my point is that unnamed didn't do the run "because he had other attempts." I was just curious.

Adding to that the number of people accusing unamed of cheating when matt didn’t even say that is appalling. Looking at the size here, about 30gb is for 3hours. 47 attempts is a lot, and you won’t die always in the start. Not everyone is going to have so much of space. Matt himself has an 80TB NAS because this is his livelihood.

I love how this videos continuously destroys gatekeeping karens. Showing suspicious stuff to make them all node their head seconds before revealing it's DarkViper's footage is brilliant!
As soon as I heard the news, I wasn't skeptical, just felt bad for DarkViperAU, as I definitely understood his frustration; being beaten to the finish line by someone who came out of nowhere, achieving something he'd been attempting so long.
This, and then people got mad at him just for being bitter about it which is the truly frustrating part
That's life. I've already accepted that, he just learnt his lesson.
@@quackityalt7213 whats the lesson then?
Yea his frustration are fair. As were some of his actions after the fact because you know some people would rub it in that he didn't do it first. Which surely gets tiring quickly
This is exactly my feelings, he worked hard developing strats, spent days trying and and then had it snatched away by someone completely unknown, I feel his pain, completing it now won't have nearly the same impact as it would have if he had gotten there first
Amazing breakdown. Salute to this video and you.
I'm glad that this video got out, I was a bit skeptical first, but this video cleared a lot of things up

Great video dude, subbed and glad to see the research done by credible people
I was a huge fan of Matt and was the sole reason I made a Twitch account.
I played the game at least three times now, and I can easily say that in friends reunited it's true that the dialogue isn't cut while Trevor's talking, but it is while wade is talking.

The only thing I’m suspicious about is the fact that alt Strat has proven to be very useful yet unnamed didn’t use the Strat at all throughout his whole run
Alt strat dosent work on the epic games store version of gta v which unnamed used
@@ananmaymukherjee8162 wtf, that's odd, so gta is indeed different from the epic games store compared to steam version like forza horizon 4 from the microsoft store is different from the steam version where if you try to play multiplayer (convoy) with each other the steam player's game is bound to crash at some point.
The strat isn't necessary. It's just there to improve your chances
Alt strat is not reliable since it’s proven to be inconsistent
As a DVAU fan, it was definitely upsetting to see someone else complete something that Matt had been trying to do for around a year, and I know it was upsetting to him. But I’m happy that it is a legit run. Cheers to unnamed, but hopefully Matt will continue to try.

I agree completely. BUT lol all u gotta do is hide one lie and that could be the key to unraveling everything. But again I do agree
to add to this, the point is simply that nothing points towards Unnamed having cheated. As Ben said, they use "Innocent until proven guilty", not "Guilty until proven innocent".
While I don't think the run or any of the evidence is fake, this doesn't prove the run is legit, it just shows that the run is likely legit. There isn't any evidence pointing towards Unnamed having cheated, but it's easily still possible.

Matt has also been splitting his OHKO runs as of recently
@@thwartificer he still does them on stream so he can’t start from a different point.

Thank you english ben for putting together that video.
I like how the main point of the video isn’t about catching a potential cheater, it’s about getting the real facts of the situation regardless of what they may be or show
General question would it not be possible that when he failed he would just quit without saving and start the next part there?
Very much so
I think that based on the files somehow and also all 3 parts are almost exactly 3 hours
The way he segmented the run is perfect. So he didn't load a previous save, he paused the game and left it in the background of his PC. So part 2 picks up right where part 1 ended, and it shows the in game clock proving it was not a reloaded save
lovely video 😇
Everyone who claimed that this run was fake has probably some brain damage or something
