Due to the fact that the hitman contacted you personally and explained himself the way he did, it's safe to say that you were more of a "cherry on top" kind of glory kill and not necessarily the main target. Considering the level of infamy you have and that so many people on 2b2t want to take your scalp, it's no surprise that you were killed, too.

My brother was actually one of the guys that collects the body near the Aokigahara Forrest.
It’s a beautiful place thus so many people killing themselves thus lots of other people killing themselves. Usually there are local people organizing the retrieval of the body but sometimes the firefighters do the job.
