    Good video on pushrod seal replace as others have said... But this is a really good time to pull out the cam followers to check the condition of the cam follower face. I have found sevral engines with cam followers that were starting to spall and am very glad the I was able to replace them before a bunch of hard metal went through the oil pump.

    Great job. Just a suggestion. If you remove the clip on the wrist pin, and the wrist pin, while the piston is still on the cylinder, they’ll pull out as a unit. It’s so much easier and faster to put back together.

    When I idle my R100RT as you did, with the covers off, heaps of oil squirts out of the rockers, both sides. That can't be normal, right? Any suggestions - where is the problem, how do I fix it?

    Let's pray that the silicon used to seal up this engine doesn't block the oil-feed to the head, which is pumped along both upper cylinder studs! And reusing an already-compressed head gasket and reusing rings is quite questionable.

      @TheBMWGuy  Год назад +1

      my guess is you didn't watch the whole video.

  • @ericwiltz6584
    @ericwiltz6584 6 месяцев назад

    I would recommend you consider, "Three Bond" grey gasket seal. This is not silicone based, is a perfect grey match for case and head. I NEVER use any form of silicone on engines, transmissions etc.. If a compression surface leak it's either torque, gasket or deck. The biggest mistake I see are people using scotch brute pads and wheels to clean flat surfaces. This is just my opinion.
    Great production and happy new year

      Not unless it is visually offensive to the owner, in that location it's purely cosmetic... much like the broken fin on the cylinder

      I thought the video was informative and BMWPG has a great online shop, but the title is misleading. Why do you need clickbait for an Airhead repair video? You might watch this for an overview, but any serious home wrencher is going to end up watching Chris Harris’s three-part, 36-minute series anyway, so this seems like a waste of ten minutes. If anything, it makes it look too easy and suggests that you’re gonna just breeze through what is probably a four to six hour job for a non-pro.
