I believe the small symbol at the foot of the graves represents a rose or flower, with leaves extended at the sides. I have seen this before, but could be wrong. By the way great job to all, you never get boring, and are like bloods hounds, working, and searching for the end product.
This is showing on FindAGrave as the Jesse Cox Cemetery. Really sad how horribly overgrown it is. Thanks for all you do, Robert and friends, to keep the memories of these dear departed alive.
According to gravestone restorers, special permissions are needed to do even cleaning of non-family stones. Make sure these are secured or fines could be incurred.
What’s better than one Robert? Two Roberts! Such determination. My husband and I recently found an old family cemetery that is only accessible by boat and we are currently making plans to go back and clean it up. It breaks my heart to see these cemeteries so forgotten. People deserve respect even in death. Which is why I love your videos so much. My husband used to think I was crazy for loving cemeteries so much but I think I’m converting him! 😆 Much love and respect for what you do Robert! ♥️ Also I just saw the Find The Forgotten sticker on your teespring! Love it! T-shirt coming soon? 😏
When you do, you should catalog it and put it on find a grave! It may be no one knows about it due to the location, but find a grave members are many, and many are usually happy to help in restoration.
Macrochelys Red I am a member of Find A Grave and didn’t even think to see if it was documented there, just looked and it isn’t. I will definitely be taking pictures and posting to Find A Grave! I did find it documented on another website however. Not sure if you can post links here but I will try. It is a really neat little family cemetery. After doing some research it turns out a member of this family was actually governor of NC right before and during the Civil War and was born on the land that holds the cemetery. He was buried there but was moved at some point. www.trading-ford.org/ellis.html

Just can’t remember which one! Thank you for the link. I’m totally fascinated by these little cemeteries, they are such an untouched link to the past.

A mother's gentle caress, her midnight loving vigil. First steps, wonders of childhood. A tender smile, exchanges of confidences, arms enfolding as a first kiss happens. The fears and tears of life's deep regrets and losses, ultimately leading to slumber in Death. These "forgotten" people in these graves all shared these in life. Someday we will join them. The Spirit knows no distance nor time. They deserve to be respected and revered when we find them and remember that they were just like us one time, a long time ago. God Bless you all at Sidestep Adventures for your care and dedication. God will reward you for your love and attention and you also bless all of us by sharing these videos with us. We will NOT FORGET

Another great video on lost cemeteries, it was so great to see you both cleaning off the grave sites. It really is sad to see how we forgot those older cemeteries. I was so surprised on how that tree you moved off the grave just crumbled. Wish we had more great people like you and you team.
Robert you need to get some canned spray air from Office Depot and some white flower from grocery store and you will be able to read the stones a lot easier.
Such a shame. Always wondered if a scout troop could be notified where these are and clean up at least twice a year. Excellent job guys! I worry about the ticks, scorpions and snakes. Maybe add an workman apron for tools, flashlight, gloves, and shears.
I really like your videos, I like how you take the time to remove blankets of growth from these stones....my favorite is Robert the other Robert he really gets down and moves that earth so that Robert and shine his light and read. It is really a shame that these final resting places are so torn and destroyed by time, and very very few show any remains of anykind of visiting with a small token of flowers....R.I.P. all the lost souls.....

You guys are awesome. I wish I could adventure with you. I think it's important to say their long lost names aloud. Try not to forget anyone. They have no one left to say their names. Love your videos.
This is certainly one of the worst for overgrowth and unreadable graves. Honestly I think one of my favorite parts of these videos is when I hear "You know what grandpa always said".
Hi guys, I sit here watching in awe as you uncover your past. But I'm also talking to the you through screen saying, where are your gloves and watch out for the poxy legless lizards! Please take care. Thank you from Australia.
Thank you again for all your hard work, time and effort you give to bringing these folks back to us. You really bring our thoughts, prayers and wonderment to these folks
There are many places where you use dirt in an attempt to highlight writing. Maybe you could have a little PVC pipe tube filled with white chalk dust among your cleaning equipment. That might be better with darker stones.
At a lot of cemeteries a family pays for perpetual care of their loved ones graves. Meaning the up keep was part of their plot purchases. I wonder if that was ever provided/included in their purchase of their plots in the areas where you explore? Also, I am noticing that a lot of the folks passed away before 1929 which may have contributed some of the cemetery companies going under due to the Great Depression?
Kim Myles , this is a family cemetery . The land has been sold many times . I knew some of the relatives of this family from my younger days ( 45 years ago ) .
It's possible that strange mark at the bottom was the brand they used on the cattle and horses, for that family. Cattle branding was a way to mark the property, and frankly, a lot of people back then couldn't read more than at a 4th grade level, so the mark would help identify the family. ....just my thoughts on it...
Another wildly overgrown forgotten cemetery. This is part one. Some pretty interesting finds in here.

Earliest burial 1864, last one 1938. Thanks for finding the name in find a grave.
Yes, its the Jesse Cox Cemetery
All these cemeteries lost in woods and forgotten and overgrown this would be a good eagle scout project
including the Girl Scouts, they can go out there and clean up graveyard too. And it would be good for them.
Or a Christian youth group. This would be an awesome way to show respect for those who went on before us
Even the Sea Scouts or Sea Cadets can do this. A military group looking for some volunteer time or a high school /college group also.

Thank you again for all your hard work, time and effort you give to bringing these folks back to us. You really bring our thoughts, prayers and wonderment to these folks
At about time stamp 19 00 where you stay that you can see an indentation there is a headstone about six feet behind you in the brush
Wow you guys do some serious bush whacking. I always enjoy the reading of the headstones and Im amazed at the dates and how old some are.
There are many places where you use dirt in an attempt to highlight writing. Maybe you could have a little PVC pipe tube filled with white chalk dust among your cleaning equipment. That might be better with darker stones.
Please be safe out there and God bless you and your family and friends , I'm wondering if the person that took care of the cemetery had passed away
It’s very possible
I am sure they have. It has been decades.
Another great find Robert. Hope you guys are using Deep Woods Off. Be safe.
It breaks my heart that families just leave them behind.
Robert thank you for the response.
Thanks again for showing a new an interesting video. At 11:21 you can see a fish at the bottom, I think💫☘️
Thank you taking a brush and cleaning the gravestones
the old grave yards are cool to find
Thank you guys for having respect that they deserve.
Have you tried highlighting the letters with chalk on the ones hard to see have seen that done and it works pretty good
Robert you have to get yourself a strong flashlight that you can attach to your waste with your brush on the other hip so you will have all you need!!
Hugs from Oklahoma
It's possible that strange mark at the bottom was the brand they used on the cattle and horses, for that family. Cattle branding was a way to mark the property, and frankly, a lot of people back then couldn't read more than at a 4th grade level, so the mark would help identify the family.
....just my thoughts on it...
Great video. Thank you for you doing this. This is wonderful history. Remember we shall All Rise Up from our Graves on the last day.
