I still remember to this day. We had a classmate named Michael Holden do the scared straight program. This dude was different. Like dude was scary af. We were like 14-15. The program didn't work for him. Turns out bro was a whole serial killer. Killed his mom, dad and 8 other boys & girls over like 4 years. Now he serving like multiple life sentences right now.

When I was younger I actually went through a program like this and it changed my life! I said nope!
The problem with these programs, especially ones recorded for TV, is that the kids are smart enough to know this is just a bit of talking to, the prisoners aren't gonna put hands on them.
For this type of thing to work, you have to throw them into the very real deep end, and run the risk that something horrible happens, for them to get a real taste of what their future could be. This sanitized non-sense only works on the weakest who just needed a stern parent to begin with.
It really is a mental game cuz I honestly think some of these cops and inmates try and make these kids swing on them lol
Right, a lot of the kids that come in there unfazed need to have an overnight stay in a cell or two days in to see that prison isn't the path they need to go down.
You'd be surprised some of them have put they hands on them in several episodes. Did you not watch the one episode where they picked up on dude and snatched his shoes and glasses off or the one episode where they jacked one dude on the wall then made him clean they underwear 😂
@@missbel8849 Even without that a lot of kids in this program turned out worse than before they went according to studies done on the show after some years. They followed the kids from childhood to adulthood if they survived to do this.

There was a kid that had a parole officer that put him in the program the cops locked him in the cell with inmates then did the unforgivable to him while the cops were laughing it’s good they got those cameras on

A few of the children got worse after the program or the program produced no change. Not sure if that would be a good idea. I think the program just convinced the children that their attitude was justified.

Some of these kids just needed that real talk from a male figure. Most of these officers were provoking the kids more than the inmates. I’m not justifying that the kids didn’t deserve some sort of discipline, but yelling and screaming and provoking kids doesn’t yield good results. 💯

having been in one of these programs for being bad, its too easy to to make inmates feel like barn animals less than society and not listen or acknowledge any word or action they say. u can start dancing and get them out of your face and their caveman mentality can't do anything. give me a Dr. Lector to try and make me a good person >_> (i am now, but just sayin) its too easy to psychologically mess with someone who has an IQ under 120 (which is pretty good but still). its quite repetitive, empty and boring
