I’m actually really pumped about all the QBs at Michigan. Any one of them could start. They are all good, especially for a team that doesn’t heavily rely on QB play.
Michigan's going to have a top 10 defense. Offensive line has 3 players with multiple starts in the last 2 seasons. RT will be Persei or Gentry with the other being the 6th man. As they work together you'll have a running game that can put up 200-300 yards per game. Considering they have a tougher schedule this year probably not an undefeated season, but will make the 12 team playoffs again. You cannot risk that on a freshman QB unless even if he's Arch Manning. Orji can be a threat similar to Alabama's Young in the run game. Going back a couple of years he reminds of Tebow and If he proves he can pass accurately, runs RPO's with good decision making and hits the occasional long throw > 30 - 40 yards HE will be the guy. Denegal and Tuttle are good enough to manage the game but do not have the upside that Orji has. I see Tuttle as a bigger version of McNamara and don't see Denegal as the battering ram Orji is. We'll see what to expect for the season in the 2nd game vs Texas. If defense shuts Texas down - which I expect it to do. The Don, spelled occasionally by Hall and Mullings along with Orji will run the longhorns on the long cattle drive to the slaughter house. If that scenario ensues it'll set pattern and you'll see Michigan heading into game 8 at Oregon undefeated at 8-0. Defense will keep them in every game and running game ball possession will help run the clock - so if offense generates minimum of 20 points they'll be in great shape no matter who's at QB.
"I'm going to say that Michigan doesn't have a quarterback problem and that they will be fine come this fall" Title: "Michigan has a SERIOUS QB problem!!!" LOL
Nice video. I agree with most of the analysis except Denegal having more potential than Alex Orji. Alex Orji is a true freak of nature and most college defenses won't be able to stop him just running RPOs and QB power. Mix in a couple deep balls to keep the defense on their toes, and I think Michigan will win a lot of games. Obviously if he's running all the time he might get banged up, so it's good to have Denegal as a backup.
This team will be carried by the run game and defense. Defense will absolutely be elite again this year, TheDon is gonna do The Don things (go ahead and peep his stats against Ohio state and in the cfb playoff, dude is a big play waiting to happen in the biggest moments possible). We will be fine.
They will probably have a "QB battle" between Denegal and Orji in the beginning of the season. Tuttle will be the back-up to run out games when Michigan is way ahead. But, Davis needs to get some reps in 4th quarter blowouts because he will end up being the starter in 2025 and or 2026.
McCord? I’d take a guy who can get an 89 season high QBR v #1D Michigan (84 #8 in his first year starting 5 points better than JJ first full year) - as a Wolverine. OSU chased Burrow!
