DBZimran sorry for my bad English,i am from Russia. your video is amazing, thanks for it. I want to share one little foreshadowing from Kubo. In chapter 127,when Ichigo started to learn bankai young yhwach said ,that he can only be defeated by real Zangetsu. And in the end real yhwach was defeated by that same blade from Ss arc
I'm going to watch this whole video in the morning since I've watched Eyecatch's video and this looks very interesting and it seems you put a lot of time and effort into this video
Chinese readers have a lot of misunderstanding about BLEACH, they really need to see this video, I wonder if I can add Chinese subtitles to this? and also, since most Chinese people have no access to youtube (you know, the 'wall'), do you mind if I upload this video to a Chinese website?
I watched them all already. And you gave new meaning to the whole world of bleach. Thank you for your great analysis. I am ashamed being a bleach fan who haven't seen the real meaning of this very amazing creation/art
"Bleach is ranked as 10th best selling manga series in history" And is the only series in top 10 that started in this millennium. I think this is worth mentioning too.
I was around 7-8 when I first watched this series. I’m 20 now, and my adoration for Ichigo (he’s my favourite character) grows stronger every time I revisit Bleach
actually you can multitask on your pc with firefoxes picture in picture mode which allows you to use other windows while a small youtube window floats on the side while watching it so the length of video wouldnt matter. so you dont have to sit through it without doing anything.
@@DBZimran length of your video isnt a problem: i saw you saying its understandably too long to sit through but dont worry since you can multitask on your pc with firefoxes picture in picture mode which allows you to use other windows while a small youtube window floats on the side while watching it so the length of video wouldnt matter.so you dont have to sit through it without doing anything.i will be happily listening to it while working on other stuff. didnt hate bleach: thankfully i never hated bleach no matter what happens as long as it doesnt miseducate people oon important topics due to misportrayal i dont mind.i know hatred towards it is unfair because i ve seen series with bad enough misportrayal that made me furious.eg. vampire diaries: misportrayal of rape, pharaohs concubine:misportrayal of abusive relationships, and tonnes of other anime that misportray sexual assaults as jokes(bleach is one of them too seeing how kon behaves but i only criticize that part of bleach instead of hating on the whole series) thankyou for taking the time to make the video that doesnt hate bleach whose starting still inspires me till this day because of its music, atmosphere, characters and more even if it had issues later cuz it wont change the fact that it was good.
The fact that kubo was in really poor health and still managed to publish weekly and try to keep the story as unrushed as possible, makes him a respected author and also makes bleach an underestimated gem
u went through all the trouble of going back and carefully analyzing every scene in the anime and manga, then made an almost 2h long video in which u listed the events of every arc and explained their signification in relation to the story... u got my respect...
I also like the way Kubo would put antagonist that questions Ichigo’s goal, like Grimmjow teasing Ichigo by telling him things like “ you’re not really here to save her (Orihime) because you would have took her and run after seeing her, you’re actually here to fight” and it makes you question all the morals. And it is so awesome because it is not the usual “you’re weak, you could never become X or Y”.
And that would be a great character development, IF HE HAD LOST THAT FIGHT! Having a character win when they are wrong and not learn anything new is the lack of Character development. Now I'm not saying Kubo doesn't know how to do CD cause Gin has the best CD in the whole Aizen arc and he's only got like 6 minutes of screen time all together. The problem Kubo faces is that ichigo is never wrong. His motivation is always pure. Save friends. He never has to battle with decisions he's already made or admit defeat. He just goes out and if he's wrong, get f-ed up and someone saves him. He powers up and comes back stronger without learning any lessons. He's literally just Gerard the Miracle. He can't die and keeps getting stronger.
@@hannibal_the_creative I mean, he was kinda losing till Orihime decided to cheer him up and tell him that he doesn’t need to fight and that he can leave her there and save himself. But I get what you mean.
@@hannibal_the_creative I think though it’s because his intentions are usually in the right place. I see what you mean because just bc your intentions are in the right place doesn’t mean you’ll always go about them the right way. But it does show his character flaws like when he lies to Tatski about Orihime, how his fear consumes him and allows his inner demon to take over, being over confident and losing sight of his goal which is why he gets his ass beat by Grimjow and Uqiuorra. It’s subtle but I agree though bc everyone goes through some sort of paradigm shift of opinion or outlook at some point and it could’ve added more to it and him training harder like say Naruto would help.
The significance of Ichigo's rejection of his "hollow" side grows more and more in each Arc, culminating in the reveal that White Ichigo was actually the true form of his Zanpakutou spirit and by constantly rejecting his assistance he was restraining himself as a Shinigami.
One thing I noticed about Bleach, especially since around the Arrancar Saga, if not before, that I always felt for the enemies too (not all of them though) I wanted Ichigo to win, but I also didn't want Grimmjow to fail after everything he went through. The enemies have character too, knowing their backgrounds makes them less shallow, and more like a well fleshed character you had feelings for in some way rather than just an antagonist for the main character to take down
yeah thats what makes bleach fights the best for me most of the times the enemies and the good guys are both not wrong they just have different opinions, for example nnoitra people looking down on him making him look useless and weak which drived him crazy and halibel just wanna protect her friends or stark was lonely just because he is too strong or ulquiorra trying to learn about life...most of the espadas defeat made me feel bad for them. its kinda more enjoyable to rewatch/read bleach because u know the personalities of the characters so you understand more why they acting like that which makes it better and more emotional.i remember first time watching bleach i didnt cry once but when i rewatched man a lot of scenes got me 😅
agreed! grimmjow was the first enemy in bleach i really cared about and didn't want to die (not including anyone from soul society, since they all turned out to be allies lol). the main arrancars were really well written
Most of the other long running shonen series and stories have this character developments and character histories. Nothing special here. If bleach excelled at it then yeah that might be good but clearly Bleach isn't. There are many series out there having the same theme
@@allaction7816 u got one piece pic u dont think one piece did a better job with the villains motivation and backstory than bleach do u?depends if u dont then i might explain to you why bleach did a rly good job with the villains but if u do think one piece did a better job with the villains then clearly u are ignorant. one piece is my second fav btw
Shonen Jump ruined Bleach. They treated Kubo like he was an object and ignored his declining health. Pushing the poor man to just release chapter after chapter.
I would rather we had two chapters a month, heck even one chapter a month and it being his best work than to be forced to produce more than he could handle and then his work suffers because of it.
Quamel Webb the industry is terrible thing near slave labor on people who are truly talented and it made bleach fail and even when it failed was it truly great. A shame really.
@@duffinthemuffin5792 as much as I love anime and manga. Learning about the abhorrent work conditions these people are put under. Is making me rethink a whole lot.
Quamel Webb I recently watched the entirety of bleach again and knowing the facts of the anime and manga industry it’s quite a sad tale of an artist pulling himself together to finish a series he spent years on and got treated like trash. It’s genuinely a shame and it shouldn’t be blamed on the author. He did his best for the time
No matter what anyone says about Bleach, l will always love it to pieces. The story, the characters are unique. Sure it is not a perfect series, but perfect enough for me to fall in love with Bleach.
@@machine1685 That's a common problem in Manga and Anime though: "Hello, I'm X, just your average highschooler" and then the dude looks like he's been hitting gym for 2 decades straight.
@@derekwalter4238 Oh I know. Bleach is visually stunning 99.9% of the time. I was just making a joke about how Chad looks like an adult in highschool. It wasnt a serious criticism. I probably should've been clearer.
I didn't even care about bleach but I sat through the whole 2 hours and enjoyed the video as if I was a fan. That should speak about the quality of this documentary.
Yea I made it to 55 minutes and was wondering why it turned into a summary of the series. Although he does get into analysis after the summary so it kinda works for me.
terrarion aqu After the 25th minute we literally describe each arc in great detail. It is basically a synopsis. It does switch into an analysis but it is telling when 40-50% of your video is a plot synopsis. Also @Otto A few of his analytical points are off base near the start and end and I don’t think this analysis does a perfect job of explaining that. The thesis is basically just a bias defense and ‘reminding us’ the plot to recontextualize it hopefully. Sometimes that analysis is correct, other times i disagree. I could be biased, after all as a writer i tend to not borrow from Kubo’s themes and worldbuilding and especially not his characterization. I am sort of ‘in between’ Kubo and Oda’s style where I prefer strong mental anguish only peppered through ‘fun’ and ‘creative’ action scenes. ...Even though i am a writer, not a mangaka, I do think i have some contentions with Bleach that I just cant call it amazing compared to other stuff. Not that...any of that matters. It is still a good video lmao otherwise i wouldnt have watched it. I would say the same for Bleach in that regard, it is a ‘good’ series i watched that i heavy personal criticisms with. I cant avoid that.
Miss bleach. The character designs have never been beat.

Character design was it's strongest point. Also the abilities were fantastic too. Too bad what was so amazing outside was so mediocre in the inside. It started so well then it went down... I'm still mad at it. Watching Bleach for its fight is just fantastic but I feel like in a whole its a wasted opportunity.
Great art that improved over the years with a good story that REALLY went down at the same time. I haven't read/watched /thought of Bleach in years and when I try to remember why I even liked it in the first place , the only thing I can come up with is: Soul Society Arc
Yeah, most teens are still figuring out who they are and what they want to do with their lives. Ichigo going through that same feeling makes him relatable.
@@allaction7816 yeah... But for me, I think Ichigo is very few shounen mc who doesnt have personal desire... Like "I want to become Hokage/pirate king/wizard king etc. He simply want to protect, if his loved ones werent in danger, I think he would undergo ordinary life.
Bleach was often my favorite of the big 3 and I remember being saddened by the lack of respect the anime community gave it. As you said, it often felt like the black sheep. I do believe there are legitimate criticisms that can be levied at Kubo's writing. Certain scenes were inarguably paced poorly and just lacking execution overall. But I think it's amazing what he was able to accomplish. It's sad that a lot of the younger generation of anime fans barely know of its existence. I hope it gets a Kai tier reboot one day. There's so much to love here, I don't want it to be forgotten.
My only complaint is that they made Kubo finish Bleach before he was ready too. Giving it that rushed feel. Hopefully they do it justice in the anime and give him more episodes to do this arc justice.
@@nicholust9571 it’s ch 686.5 and came out back in summer 2020. It’s a one shot to promote the return of bleach I think and the Manga ends open ended so hopefully the author would continue it. Unfortunately there’s no other chapters after that :c
Some of my favorite details in Bleach: 1. Matsumotos zanpakuto turns to ash while Gins turns to dust (get it ashes to ashes, dust to dust) 2. Aizen and Urahara represent the Übermensch and Last Man respectively, from Nietzsche's philosophy (with the Soul King being a very literal interpretation of God is Dead), 3. Each member of the Schutzstaffel represents a different era of warfare, Pernida ancient shamanism, Gerard Valkyrie medieval melee combat, Lille Baron modern firearms and Askin Nakk Le Varr chemical weapons of mass destruction
i agree with everything except for the matsumoto and gin thing, i think is reaching a little bit, i dont see how that expression applies to any of their arcs.
@@Zelink108 literally the definition of that expression - The phrase 'ashes to ashes' expresses the notion that we come from dust and we return to dust. again, how does that make sense for their case, where exactly is the symbolism.
Supereyepatchwolf has learned a lot since his fall of bleach video. He recommended this video on his Twitter. It’s cool he’s able to learn from his mistakes.
Anxhelo Vuçinaj he hasn’t mentioned anything in the series. I believe he prefers to focus on future videos since he’s already spending so much time writing scripts and editing his videos. But he’s very open to criticism and is very respectful about it. You should check him out some time. Most of the time he’s pretty spot on.
It's a BIG mistake because he is dead ass wrong in the video. He didn't even delete it. That wolf guy doesn't know anything and I don't even know why his dumb ass video was recommended to me
The moment when you realize the Hollow Ichigo is the only person who told him the truth at the start. That he was the real zangestsu and his shinigami powers. "Old man zangestsu" was just his Quincy blood holding his legitimate powers back.
@@nasjordan2598 yea zangetsu is nothing more then the Quincy powers keeping his soul reaper powers in check. When u see what the leader of the Quincy go back and look at zangetsu. But def read the manga. Dont waste time on the fillers
@@johnnydamns6848 Oh Snap!✨👀 Hope it will be good and they keep the semi realism of the first one. Bleach had a sense of reality about Ichigo's life. He was a student with more than just one problem to deal with. I like that about the character.
Terrific video -- I agree that this series is vastly underrated (albeit I do believe there were structural flaws in the storytelling that hobbled the Arrancar arc and to some extent sabotaged the Blood War). When people complain that Ichigo doesn't have an arc or that Bleach doesn't have a theme, I am always nonplussed because I think there is a very clear through-line: Bleach is about the rigid dogmas we create to make sense of life's miseries and Ichigo represents humanism. He doesn't have a stake in the structures or beliefs that the Shinigami or Arrancar or Quincy fight over, because his belief is that defending a single life is worth dying for and that's enough. He even searches out the feelings of those he is dueling -- his blade is literally empathetic. The Hollows are the traumas of the world that are born out of despair and cause despair while the Shinigami are the religious order that provide order to the chaos -- they're like a Vatican that rules capriciously and often cruelly, but out of a desire to make some sense of a chaotic existence. Aizen is Lucifer -- an angel who decides he could rule better than God. He recruits demons for his cause and is eventually trapped in a subterranean prison. Ginjo is Job, but he cracked under the many trials that the divine threw him. Yhwach is a twisted Messiah -- an evil Jesus, if you will -- a son/incarnation of God who recruits his followers through granting them miracles with an ultimate goal of delivering the world to heaven, by force in this case. All of these systems and villains are fighting over realizing their vision for how the afterlife should be structured or because they cannot reconcile their frustration when the system they were raised to follow doesn't provide answers to the tribulations life throws them -- Ichigo is the humanist cure. Frankly, I think that Kaien Shiba's lecture to Rukia about the 'heart' existing between the space between two people is the single most important scene in Bleach. The series' entire worldview and theme is right there. It's a genuinely moving and uniquely wise sentiment, especially in an action series. That's a very compelling through-line. I don't think Bleach ultimately followed through on elucidating this theme, ultimately collapsing under the weight of too many characters and unexplained lore in the final arc, but major props to Kubo for bringing such a rich subtext to a shonen story.
I'm in love with this comment! Really well thought out and I loved each of your examples. Really does leave you lost for words when it is assumed Bleach isn't a good series.
@Vespid Your critique is fair. I think the video's author mounts a terrific counterargument to your notes, but I personally do believe that while Ichigo has a thematic arc, he is frustratingly stilted in his characterization. What I mean is that while he is a suitable anchor for all the series' themes, the story loses sight of what makes him compelling. I think the key to him is that he is a big brother, but unfortunately the series sidelines his sisters as footnotes. I think that was a mistake -- those characters are crucial to who he is. A protective big brother is relatable -- someone who has a pathological obsession with protecting in general is a bit of a cipher. I also think Kubo missed a great opportunity for Ichigo to become an active character in the Lost Agent arc. In my opinion, Ginjo ought to have been more sympathetic and his gripes against Soul Society laid out -- and I think Ichigo should have joined forces with him. He establishes independence from Soul Society -- which would make it feel all the more interesting and/or moving when he decides to come to their aid in the final arc. Kubo's refusal to sex him up was also a mistake -- that conflicted emo boy would most definitely be actively attracted to Orihime's sunniness while confused by his chemistry with Rukia. Bleach in general could have used a big dose of romance -- a lot of these characters feel incomplete because that crucial component of existence is glaringly absent. But that's just my two cents -- I think Bleach is a beautiful sprawl of cool ideas that would have benefitted from Kubo having a story partner who would simply help him keep the story tighter. Instead, it ballooned to the point that its scope became untenable. But I think the subtext I suggested in the previous post still stands -- the Monday morning quarterback in me just wishes that those themes were elucidated more in the completed story.
@@robertfowler5350 I think Bleach would have done better if it was structured like One Piece or My Hero and really took it's time. Those are two very detail oriented series despite the fact that they are action, testosterone-fuel. Bleach needed to take time to flesh out more of the important ideas and characters and really establish the thematic through-line you mentioned because despite me not really thinking about Bleach that deeply, I feel like it could have been a deeper, more thought provoking series compared to most Shounen Jump manga that aim to to be emotionally resonant. I think the issue is that Bleach was more of a FMA type of story that found itself in a market full of Gokus and never really got to grow into it's own pocket and was confined to the contemporary way of Shounen storytelling.
To be frank, I also took Super Eyepatch Wolf's video at face value without taking time to confirm any of the info presented in it, so seeing another perspective is enlightening and much appreciated.
Your not alone. Im fan of eye patch wolf but even i sometimes find some points of disagreement. But in the end i contribute hate of bleach to my chagrin
Even after watching Super Eyepatch Wolf’s ‘Fall of BLEACH’ video 3 years ago, I still had a love for Bleach because something about it felt so fulfilling I could't put into words. But you finally put it into a video as to why I love Bleach so much and how deep it really is!! Thank you, so much!!
People do not realise how much work a manga artist does. Working 7 days with very little sleep no holiday, day in day out for years. These critics could not survive a week of what these artists go through sometimes risking their own lives to get the content out. Major health problems ect.. people criticize but within reason. Just because it's not up to standard that's no excuse to moan.
I never thought of watching Bleach so i asked my friend about, it how is Bleach and whether i should watch it or not and he was like "Don't watch Bleach, it sucks" and i was like " Okay, i'm going to watch Bleach" and thank god i did. After finishing Bleach i asked him why he doesn't like Bleach and he said he saw a review and it got bad reviews. I was like you're not watching it because of one person's opinion? I never saw that video so i don't what the reviewer said about Bleach. I tried to convince my friend into watching Bleach but it was of no use. His mind is set now due to that. That poor soul. But i know one thing or sure after watching this video my respect has gone way up for Bleach. And I also respect the creator of this video for making me like Bleach even more. Now, all i am trying to say is don't listen to anyone's hatred towards anything watch and find out for yourself. I don't know same can be said for good opinions towards anything.

@[FT] Rowzy ジ it makes sense why gintama is more popular in japan than everywhere else, since the show relies very heavily on references only japanese people will understand without notes explaining the joke/reference
Gintama's intended audience already knows about it. The ratings and viewership on mal represent around where it should be. You need to have a lot of meta anime knowledge to understand even half of the jokes which automatically excludes almost every casual viewer.
I recently watched all of Bleach and Gintama back to back, in that order. I basically went from the bleach fan to the Gintama fan all within a span of a few months lol
SO TRUE LOOOOOOL.When you think about the only good dad I know so far is ichigo's dad because other than him most dads in different shounens are either dead or gone
You could spin Naruto motivation being a lack of both his parents and more a grandfatherly figure with hiruzen. One piece has a trifecta of motivation against a grandfather, a father like figure, but also a key aspect of brotherhood. Patriarchal lines are certainly common, though really depends on how you view things, alot of shonen also have a mother or aunt that while not a sole motivator are usually a grounding factor, Togashi works, Inuyasha, and Fullmetal alchemist as a few examples.

I started Bleach thanks to a friend pushing me in early February and finished my binge yesterday. It now belongs to my top 10 and I've read an unhealthy amount of series, Tite Kubo is one of my favourite mangaka, I never thought I would like a series like Bleach so much in the year 2020. I absolutely have my problems with the final arc for the most part, big problems, but I still see Bleach as what it is: a flawed masterpiece, a passionate series full of heart and a beautiful message of hope and humanity. Now that I have joined the fandom though... I'm excited to see what Bleach: face again is about on March 21st.
Wow man, I've never seen such a well written, intelligent, intelligible and well documented video in the anime community. Thank you for helping me settle my feelings towards Bleach as a big part of my childhood and young adulthood. You create amazing content and deserve more recognition for your tremendous work.
I feel like I can safely say it here; I love Bleach. 1. I really like Ichigo as a character. The reason Ichigo is sold sort as a protagonist might be, because he really keeps all the bad emotions buried within himself. His inner world cries when he doesn’t. The thing holding himself back the most is himself = Hollow/Zangetsu and is what he also fears the most. He’s afraid to express raw emotion which steams from his childhood. The guilt of what happened to his mother. It’s a story how he learns to use those emotions to protect the one’s he loves, and have those who he protected help him in return. 2. My favorite parts of the Bleach series is the beginning (the monster of the week) and the fullbring arc. In my opinion fullbring arc has the most powerful scene, in which Ichigo walks on Tsukishima having literally stolen all of his friends. Up until now Ichigo has always saved those who have wanted help. First Rukia and then slightly reluctant Orihime. But in fullbring arc, none of his friends want help, and because of Tsukishima, they think he’s the one whose in wrong. His worst fear. It’s so twisted and I love the despair and the feeling of betrayal, and how it just gets worse up until Rukia shows up. My favorite character breakdown moment. 3. I love Kubo’s art. The way he evolves funnily enough mirrors how the characters have grown. First volumes have rough outlines and sharp edges for the younger characters, and later more smooth soft lines for the older. He also draws hands real good. 4. Anime OST is dope. 5. All in all, I have always been fascinated by death and it drew me to this series back in my teens. Gotta go read those 74 volumes of Bleach again from my bookshelf.
Alphonse I get why people don’t like the fullbring arc, but that moment where Ichigo breaks down after losing his fullbring power thinking everyone has been turned against him, and then Rukia returns and he becomes a shinigami again is freaking awesome, first time I saw the pages I could feel the weight behind the imagery, the artwork for it really radiates with emotion.
It really is!!! Bleach is what got me into anime and manga, respectably, to begin with, and it captivated me to a degree that few other works of fiction have been able to. While all my other friends would nerd out over DBZ, Naruto, or Full Metal Alchemist, I happy resided as the Bleach-loving black sheep, and still do to this day.
Bleach cannot possibly be underrated or under appreciated when it’s one of the most popular shonen manga of all time. It just seems like people are upset because a few videos decided to not praise it under the sun as the best manga like every other fanbase.
@@sevenchambers More like it was unfairly and inaccurately criticised for the flaws it has. But ye, unless they're talking about opinions on Bleach now, Bleach is pretty comfy in it's popularity.

I love the way you tackled each individual arc and talk about their themes, the one thing no one really talks about in the AC. I'm glad you went over it in a general way, and I hope this inspires others to make more bleach related content to help make this amazing series get the respect it deserves as well as get rid of bleach's stigma!!

I used to love it, but the story development is so lacky. The fights animation is very good, but in every game i feel like i need to watch some villain face while their hand brush their hair and try to act cool. One thing is seriously wrong in their combat system is How tf you stab enemies with your whole hand while ur sword cant even pierce enemies body? Kubo make it look so easy to achieve rather doing what an intense fight should happen
@@noone-xh3iq that is true. I will not argue that it has its faults, since nothing is perfect. But I do feel like it deserves more merit than it gets the thousand year war arc in special.

Bleach was my very first anime. I was about 7-8 years old and my dad had the series in our USB. He played it on TV and I got really engrossed in it. Seeing how invested I was, my dad proceeded to download the rest of the series for me. I was 16 when Bleach manga ended- around the same time I decided to pick up the series again after finishing it years ago through the anime. There, I found my love for the series again, remembering how much the story meant to me as a child. I was so excited for the final chapter that I even had the date marked so I could read it once it’s released. I’m 20 now and the anime adaptation of Thousand Year Blood War arc had just released on Netflix. Watching the five episodes currently available made me fall for Bleach all over again. It truly amazes me how much I adore this series that shaped my childhood. No matter how much people hate Bleach, the series will always hold a special place in my heart. It was a series I grew up with, and it was the series that made me fall in love with anime to begin with. Thank you so much for this video. It made me appreciate the series more seeing other’s passionate discussion and explanation about it. Your Bleach videos always put a smile to my face, seeing things that I would never have noticed as a young kid.

The idea that Ichigo is LESS relatable than the other 2 protagonists, BOGGLES my mind. He is literally the most relatable, since he is just a normal 15 kid at the start of the series born and raised in a small town somewhere in japan. He wasn't a trained killer from childhood (Naruto) and whatever the hell is wrong with Luffys head.
@@SoWhosGae Oh so you're a pirate that lives in a world of hunting treasures? or is it that you are a ninja hoping to become a jonin? Or have you never had a childhood and just suddenly appeared as an adult? Let me know which one you fit in.
Billy Kotsos I’d never say Ichigo isn’t relatable, but he’s less engaging to me. Despite Naruto and Luffy having flat progression, they’re charming and engaging and it’s about how they interact with the world around them and how the world reacts to their set in stone ways. Actually now that I think about it....no really, as I typed that, he is kinda unrelatable. He’s a kid with a bad rep, gets into fights, is a very good student in school despite it, a great martial artist, who has the most popular girl in school crushing on him....his parents are both folks from strong factions.....fuck, this IS sounding edgelordy.
I can see that a comment that said Grimmjowand Ulquiorra were more relatable has been deleted. To that I say to each his own. I can imagine that for some people Mayuri or Vegeta can be relatable. I would say these characters are COOL, they may certainly be COOLER than Ichigo but more RELATABLE??? This again BOGGLES my mind.
@@TheShockVox I have read Naruto, I haven't read One piece, and to put things in context these are both shonen manga published in shonen jump that target early to late teens. Looking at this from a serious grown up perspective, Naruto was brought up as an assassin after a world war, all these kinds are brought up as killers. This is something of course that is never addressed, indeed they have missions where they save cats. Thats fine this is shonen after all, but the dissonance is strong with this one. If the manga were more realistic , everyone would be closer to Danzo in terms of character. If you read chapter one of bleach you will immediately understand how that 15 year old kid has grown up , as long as you are a person that has grown up relatively well of in a stble country, The ONLY difference between him and you before the journey begins is that he can see ghosts BUT, as he said that has never made him feel special.
I choose to ignore anything after Ichigo gets his powers back at the end of the anime. cause that was an ending, Ichigo remained true to himself in spite of everything and his friends stood by him and came back to aid him in the end, the entire high command of the soul society coming together to return his powers so they could repay him for all he did and all he sacrificed for the world was a good ending!
@Martin Lee next ... 2020 they should release Burn the Witch (Bleach Spin-Off) Here is a question... The "XX/XX/2021" in the trailer it's for the anime or some art concept showcase? Because right after the next arc shots it shows "XX/XX/XXXX"
Don't get me wrong, I love Naruto and One Piece: I love their main characters, I have favorited and hated characters from both of them; I really, seriously love all the Big Three. But, if someone asked me which anime that has the most relatable main (and side) characters for me, then I will choose Bleach without a doubt. In my teenage days, even when I did not have any power what so ever, I can always symphatize with Ichigo more than either Naruto or Luffy. Bleach has help me with my self-esteem and all my other problems, and thus I seriously am pissed with how people try to take it down with their ridiculous comments.
Thanks for putting this whole thing together. It was absurdly comprehensive. Watching this reminded me of how much I adored Bleach when it was still airing. I just think with some of the filler in the anime and certain story stuff not grabbing me I fell off. I'm not gonna lie I bought into the negative stuff surrounding the manga/anime, but I'm so glad you clarified so much of the incorrect info surrounding it and highlight all of its unique and engaging aspects.
I like ichigo`s character more than luffy`s or naruto`s. He didnt wanted to be the king of shinigamis, He just wanted a happy life with his friends and family
Yes he was an antithesis to Luffy and Naruto, who both, even before the later crazy stuff happened, had pretty outlandish lives. Luffy had the ability to stretch and his whole childhood with Ace and Sabo; Naruto, while alone, was a prankster and delinquent. Ichigo in comparison had the ability to see ghosts, which he, at first, wanted to get rid of, but learned to accept it and live with it, plus his goal is very pacifist, protecting his family and friends and leading a peaceful life without danger.
@@alfreddozier832 Nah he's got motivation. But this video does misrepresent the importance of a character having a goal. Every character in every story needs a goal and a motivation to want to achieve it. Having strong goals & motivation is the backbone of storytelling. Otherwise theres no reason for the character to do anything they're doing in the story. Thats why flimsy or weak goals don't work in long running narratives. It becomes harder and harder to justify why the character is taking part in the plot without a strong motivation to do so. Ichigo definitely had strong motivation. But as the series went on that became unclear to the readers in the midst of all the crazy battles with the supernatural.
IMHO the Fullbringer arc really showcased Ichigo's development. He was powerless and then betrayed to tears before rebounding and becoming stronger both physically and emotionally with the support of his friends. I also liked that the arc briefly showcased the duplicitous nature of Soul Society via the badge that would become jarringly apparent in the post Blood War novels, especially considering the sheer nightmare they had planned for Ichigo. And that's perhaps Ichigo's top flaw, don't question and charge right in to save an entity that ultimately only cares about control and maintaining a fake status quo. Still, the fact that he bends the rules to do what's right is a glimmer of light in the dark Bleach universe.
I never understood why the Fullbringer Arc was so hated. It served it's purpose in the story pretty clearly. Ichigo is depressed that he can't do the one thing he wants to, protect those around him, so he finally gets the chance to do that, only to be betrayed, but brought back to his prime through the changes he made to the Soul Society. If Ichigo had never made those substantial changes in Soul Society, they wouldn't have returned the favor. All comes full circle.
@@theflyingace611 True that. Probably because it came off as 'filler' even as they became prominent and deep in the postwar novels. But yes the arc really allowed Ichigo to grow and his Shinigami allies supporting him(even Sui-Feng of all people)was pretty heartwarming.
@@theflyingace611 fullbring arc hated cuz the villains were trash, they could do nothing. And the episodes are just focusing on ichigo training. The drama is good, but it's not executed properly like previous arcs
@@theflyingace611 it just felt like filler, shitty enemies out of nowhere and it just felt bad seeing ichigo turn into a bitch when he is the goat, wasn't fun or interesting. Why would I wanna see him lose his powers..just a thought. Best part of the ark for me was seeing kenpachi again and complaining about going against the weakest one lol. Out of the big 3 I'd say one piece is the most boring, arcs drag and drag and always adding a bunch of shitty characters. World building is the only part of one piece that's awesome, fights are always lame. I really don't know how I'm like 900 episodes in when half the arcs I don't like. I love bleach and naruto sooooooooo much more always skip fillers though.
I’ll admit that I found the “Bleach rescue arcs are repetitive” argument appealing. But after watching this, I concede that One Piece and Naruto are repetitive as well. Like you said, it’s not a Bleach-centric issue. After watching (most of) this, I view Bleach in a respectable light. I always loved the characters and their designs, but this video convinced me to respect the story. Thank you.
Naruto & One Piece are way more repetitive than Bleach, and here's why: - Only two similar arcs in Bleach: rescue Rukia arc, then rescue Orihime arc. - One Piece: go to a new island > get defeated by the villain > power up or training or new member join the crew > defeat the villain. Repeat the previous formula for 10 arcs... Naruto: Kabuto is a pawn to Orochimaru - Orochimaru is a pawn to Pain - Pain is a pawn to Nagato - Nagato is a pawn to Obito - Obito is a pawn to Madara - Madara is a pawn to Black Zetsu - Black Zetsu is a pawn to Kaguya..
KeN SmilePachI I agree, for the most part. But to be fair, Bleach doesn’t have nearly as many arcs as Naruto and One Piece. Only two arcs (eg, the Rukia and Orihime arcs) take up a grand majority of Bleach.
@@kensmilepachi3313 Naruto first jutsu: transformation. Second Shadowclones. Later, nine tail chakra. After, dig a hole and punch. Next, summoning justu. After that, rasengan. Later incident, rasengan with nine tails. Part 2: Wind style rasen shuriken. Last great part: Sage mode and a bunch of toads. All the meanwhile developing the almost invincible art of talk. And that is just one characters. Bleach, do us haters need to say it again? One sword to power up. All the power up are already inside. Villian defeat is predetermined.
@@kensmilepachi3313 as for those Naruto plot points came after pain arc. Pretty much everyone agreed that the series ended its great age then. It should be first, want to be hokage, then want to defend hometown, then bring his best friend, then saved his friends from what the red clouds design, then saved his hometown again before a long cashgrabs. And that is Naruto arc without mentioning sasuke, kakashi and jaraiya who has different arcs and character motivations and developments.
The scene where Ichigo lost his fullbringer powers will always be one of my favorite scenes in all of anime. He willingly gave up his powers defeating Aizen thinking that his friends would be safe afterwards, but Tsukishima and Ginjo created a plan that injured his friends and turned them against him while giving him some power to start protecting them again only for them to rip it away at the most critical moment. The only way I would of seen it being done better is if they had Ichigo still try to attack Ginjo with just punches and kicks before he broke down and then him breaking like that actually sparked back his shinigami powers (not fully, just a small flicker) and that would have been when Rukia gave him the sword full of reiatsu as it would pull that spark into raging fire. I enjoyed the fullbringer arc the entire way through and always thought the people who didn't enjoy it didn't understand Ichigo as a character. Although, I always wondered why the anime never outright mentioned that Orohime was a fullbringer.
When the big visored dude fixed orehimes hairpin it was said her power was more akin to a zanpakuto, so it was stated it was more unique than a fullbringer
I agree with you. That scene was so heart wrenching and satisfying as it went on. I had to download it, lol. I feel like the people that don't like the fullbringer arc are the same people that think Ichigo has no motivation or that he is boring. I mean his breakdown was so horrible to watch, not know whether or not you're going crazy, finding out the people you trusted betrayed you and turned everyone against you, losing the power to protect them when you worked so hard to get them back. I mean, he does everything to protect the ones he loves. Feeling like your whole relationship is lost or a lie would be devastating, but he still tried to fight without powers while struggling to get up. And wow, it was great seeing the sky torn apart and Ginjo getting his ass kicked. I like the suggestions you gave too.
Schuldiges Herz honestly like that was a deep moment for the show but it’s pretty satisfying to watch ichigo absolutely mop the floor with kugo in bankai
you hit me so hard with so much information i had to come back and watch this video multiple times to absorb all of it, and now that i've finally absorbed all of it, i'm glad you made this
It’s amazing how underrated this anime has become and how some subtle characterization and themes in the story have gone very much unnoticed. Also thank you for bringing the Fullbring arc justice I just finished watching and reading the manga in the last week and I honestly think Bleach does not get enough love.
out of all the criticism you could give kubo, his art isn't one of them. i dare say he has one of the best art out of all the shounen i've read(now eclipsed, IMO, by Murata's manga adaptation of OPM)
Everyone who enjoys this 2 hour long documentary. Remember. Bleach is 366 episodes. Every episode is 20 min long. Equals 122 hours of runtime. That's nearly a week of watching none stop. The amount of missed amazing content of Bleach showcased in this documentary is understated and should be all means be enjoyed at least once.
This video means so much to the 13 year old me, and it means a lot more to the 20 year old me now. Ichigo’s struggle with being at a crossroads as well as other themes of fear and loss are immensely relatable to me and I’m sure to many others and this video only makes me appreciate Bleach all the more. Thank you for this amazing video !
Finally someone talking about it seriously and with high regard instead of treating it like a joke like all those who talk mad shit about it despite never watching it.
Bleach is one of the most poetic series in Anime and it's only ashame that fans don't realize the bigger picture of what's it's trying to teach. I'm happy that this video gave fans a different perspective of how great the development is and the messages that it portrays really does relate with Reality. Thanks for this long awaited video. The analysis was on point and you got the messages and growth of the characters and their inner struggles perfectly. This was well worth the two hour watch and with this video made me love the series more. I'm so excited to read TYBW now and I'll support Bleach for now and Forever. #IMSTILLBLEACH
Yes! Bleach was never a spoon-fed experience, it really made you think about the deeper meaning. Its more than the surface level with this series you are right. Thank you for watching!
I hope this video manages to reach the whole anime community. I was one of the poeple that trusted wolf's video when it came out so I'm thankful for this one. I also am a huge fan of Kubos character designs, so detailed and pretty damn cool looking too.
Bleach was, for me, baby’s first anime. I rewatched it recently and I must say that it’s still an amazing tale of hope, determination, and resolve through a supernatural world. To this day it is the only long running anime/manga besides Berserk that I actually care to view more than once. Ichigo, is to me, the perfect example of a hero in anime. As in someone doing the right thing simply because it’s right, even to the extent of sparing and rescuing his enemies and hating himself when a battle results in the death of someone he could’ve saved regardless of which side their on. Even showing sympathy to Aizen after defeating him. He doesn’t chase after revenge, he doesn’t give in to excessive violence, and refuses to lose not out of pride, but because he needs to win to protect people.
I still have PTSD from this and I'll never forget it. The enormous potential of the cool cast and characters is almost painful, it could easily still be on today if the internet didn't eat the manga/anime alive.
I never watched bleach, and while I attempted to read it I just didn't, but even I knew what Ichigo's motivation was from the very beginning, and from the gossip and spoilers of other people I always knew that Tite stuck to it, he wants to protect his family, and then his friends. I never hated it, because I didn't know it, and I for one found the art to be both delicate and elegant looking while still being visceral.
Ichigo was meant to be very human, he's supposed to be relatable to the reader/watcher. He's part of a supernatural universe, in which, at first glance, seems very devoid of humanity, in fact, when Renji first appears, he judges Rukia for being too "human-like" after spending some time in the Human World. Ichigo's goals and motivations were very ideological which is also another aspect which we as humans tend to heavily pursue.
Ichigo is a watered down yusuke yurameshi and his character development isn"t compelling in the slightest. Also his characterization is flip floppy nonsense.
Been a while since I rewatched the early episodes of Bleach but Rukia told Ichigo at one point he had to take the leap and commit to being a substitute shinigami and he had a quote like "All my life I have wanted to protect people and now that I have the strength I will never be satisfied with only protecting the people I can hold in my arms. I will protect as many people as I can." That was Kubo laying out the person Ichigo is. EDIT: Quote is a little off but the idea is the same and it was to Uryu
I wish Bleach had been written as a seinen. The character designs, some of the horror aspects and the overall tone of the story I feel maybe would've been better suited to be explored in a seinen context. Also, rangiku's boobs.
I like that idea. I saw the anime without the fillers and then read the TYBW arc. I felt that that the TYBW arc had less goofy scenes than the other arcs and I liked really liked that. Cut out those scenes and make it more adult
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO THOIGHT THIS TOOO!!! I’m a fan of berserk, Gantz, Zetman the great classics of seinen and I felt so disconnected with Bleach due to the shounen aspects and the focus on the deeper psychological moments were so powerful I wanted more ! And then with the fillers to the pointless repeats. Smh. Bleach would have been a fire seinen but I wonder if it was going to be originally but since shounen is popular it would have been a better marketing choice ?
I was introduced to the world of Bleach through the anime back in 2005. I instantly loved it: A shounen about a boy not having a selfish desire, a cast with so well written characters, and the visuals and music. Could listen the ost for days. Could rewatch the show and start over just because. At the time I was a high schooler with little access to internet, so in order to watch anime I had to buy pirate DVDs from those who had. Unfortunately I couldn't get past the Arrancar arc as the many fillers sapped my will to keep watching. Flash forward to 2019 and I heard about the bad reputation one of my all time favorite animes and I couldn't believe why was that. Like you I fell for their claims and thought to be true, and still being burned out from the anime I couldn't make myself read the manga from start. You sir reignited my interest in Bleach and gave voice to why I loved it since the beginning, and for that you have a like, a subscription, this comment and my eternal thanks. 2 Hours of my life well spent.
@@sreddi83 Chad wasn't that bad, and he had some interesting powers and a moving backstory. Yamacha, on the other hand, as well as Krillin, are straight garbage
i will share this EVERYWHERE i can this video truly is the best explanation of bleachs arcs , themes , how kubo uses the words fear ,death and ect. i will always remember this video and praise to you DBZimran becuse nobody would give bleach enough time to explain it to the people who dont get its meaning and wish you a great new decade becuse everyone deserve one for taking gud bout bleach these past 3 or four years after the manga ended
I could have watched a full movie but instead, I watched your video... And it was amazing !!! Thank you so much !!! I’m really glad someone understood Bleach’s philosophy and explained it to the world. I’m a huge fan of Bleach and I felt really sad for Tite Kubo after people claimed that his manga was bad. Particularly, when he spent so much time creating a story he loves. I like Bleach so much. When I was 10 and I started reading manga, in comparison with Naruto and One Piece, Bleach had a different impact on me because I could feel that characters were very similar to real people. It’s why I was so closed to them. Nevertheless I know that Bleach is not perfect. For me, the main problem of Bleach was that, close to the end, fights weren’t memorable and enjoyable enough. It was just big explosion and clash of blades. Even if they aren’t perfect, a good example of memorable fights comes from My Hero Academia. In those fights, not a lot of things are happening (and I hate it since they are really too short). But there is always one epic moment. It’s one of the reasons people enjoy this show, even if it’s not as well written as Bleach in terms of philosophy. I think Tite Kubo forgot a little the entertainment part because whatever how deep and true your message is, if your story isn’t enjoyable (ie with epic moments) people won’t keep reading so they’ll not see its greatness. Anyway, for people who understood Bleach, we all know that it’s a great story. Thank you again for restoring Bleach honour and giving it the praises that it deserves.
Hey! You're using Ryan's animation for the Thousand Year Blood War Arc! Man of culture, I see! In a world where Fairy Tail exists, I never understood why it was cool to hate on Bleach. The final arc did leave me feeling unsatisfied in some parts, don't get me wrong. There were times where it seemed like, against Kubo's better nature as a writer, he just wanted to draw something freaking cool (looking at you, Cyborg Kira). But I always feel good after reading those last few chapters.
i'm your biggest fan. but seriously i agree 100% sure i'd love to know what happen to characters like ichigo's dad grimmjow urahara etc but i was also someone who was running home from school after detention to catch that new episode of bleach. i guess what i'm saying is i'm glad i grew up with this and i truly believe the people that did hate on it really never got into it. cause there is no way (to me at least) something that genuinely gave you joy at one point can be cast aside as garbage in the blink of an eye. people just hated because at the time and even today to some degree it was the cool thing to "hate on bleach".(coming from experience the early-mid 2010s was a dark time for bleach indeed)
@@nafisa9521 That's weird. I remember the Bleach fanbase being fucking hyped during the beginning of the Thousand Year Blood War (around 2012-2013, I believe). And speaking from my own experience, I've *never* been so eager to read a shounen manga in my life as I was during the early portions of that arc.
really maybe i got my time confused cause i just remember when the fullbring arc was out in the manga it was bad but it was manga so most people tolerated it especially b/c bleach chapter takes seconds to read. then when it was animated and an even bigger portion of bleach fans saw it, it was horrendous. from what it was and i mean people actively involved with the series (i'm talking personal experience) they all left when they saw that arc and didn't return. only came back because it was ending and it was apart of their childhood. and when they did return everything was criticism like "its not the same" or "the old bleach was better". but i've been with the series since 06/07 so its been along time i probably just got the years mixed up.
One thing I never thought about while reading Bleach was: who taught the Quincies how to destroy Hollows? You retroactively made me think what my young mind then hadn't thought about and how important that was for the entire series! Thank you!
Same as how the Hollows learn their powers via Instinct and Shinigami via Zanpakuto, The Quincy learns how tobuse their power via inherent techniques. All Wuincy have the ability to draw upon the reishi in the surroundings so the quincy themselve really only need to master this basic aspect and then build up from there. And this isn't counting Yhwach at all
Thanks you two... I always thought this argument "Ruffy wants to become pirate king and Naruto Ninjaking, so Bleach should become Shinigami-King!" is so empty. Like people WANT it to be exactly like every other series. There ared flaws indeed, but not wanting to become the strongest something-kinfg isn´t one.
Jason Maxwell is hilarious they wanted Kubo to have his MC he almost the exact same as the two other MCs of mangas that Bleach was simultaneously running alongside.....
Amazing video was worth the wait! There are few foreshadowing kubo did too! Quincy zangetsu used blut vein against kenpachi! Mugetsu looks similar to yhwach! Ichigo aura with his final confrontation with byakuya looks like mugetsu aura! Ichigo form which ginjo took! The sword shape is the same exact sword yhwach uses in the last arc and many more foreshadowing
Rukia took an interest in ichigo because he looks like kian shiba unbenosted by him his father a former captain was part of the shiba clan I really wish they do a tv movie on Ishin his past is so interesting!
The internet is ultra saturated with critics. I'm starting to like videos that defend media and pick up on depth/nuances I didn't notice before now. I love going back to shows and movies with new perspectives and finding more to appreciate about them. It's much more fun than trying to pick apart something that was created for me to enjoy.
Remember enjoying Bleach in the old days of Adult Swim. The farthest I got was the rescue of Rukia but that was because I didnt have cable. Spending two hours understanding what happened was pretty solid and I am happy he got to tell his story. Not many mangakas get even that.
I legit have a new respect of Bleach, I had fallen into some minor misconceptions and I ended up having a bit of my own misconceptions. I still have my own opinion on things that I feel like were not done well in the series, but I think I can honestly recommend Bleach as a watchable series again. Thank you for your documentary.

didnt hate bleach:
thankfully i never hated bleach no matter what happens as long as it doesnt miseducate people oon important topics due to misportrayal i dont mind.i know hatred towards it is unfair because i ve seen series with bad enough misportrayal that made me furious.eg. vampire diaries: misportrayal of rape, pharaohs
concubine:misportrayal of abusive relationships, and tonnes of other anime that misportray sexual assaults as jokes(bleach is one of them too seeing how kon behaves but i only criticize that part of bleach instead of hating on the whole series)
thankyou for taking the time to make the video that doesnt hate bleach whose starting still inspires me till this day because of its music, atmosphere, characters and more even if it had issues later cuz it wont change the fact that it was good.
BLEACH WORLD SUXK ,,,,,NO GOD A SOUL KING CRAP
The fact that kubo was in really poor health and still managed to publish weekly and try to keep the story as unrushed as possible, makes him a respected author and also makes bleach an underestimated gem
u went through all the trouble of going back and carefully analyzing every scene in the anime and manga, then made an almost 2h long video in which u listed the events of every arc and explained their signification in relation to the story...
u got my respect...
I watched the whole thing and I prefer this approach. ;)
Ikr ppl tend to look pass that
And that would be a great character development, IF HE HAD LOST THAT FIGHT!

Shonen Jump ruined Bleach. They treated Kubo like he was an object and ignored his declining health. Pushing the poor man to just release chapter after chapter.

Also @Otto
A few of his analytical points are off base near the start and end and I don’t think this analysis does a perfect job of explaining that.

Bleach was often my favorite of the big 3 and I remember being saddened by the lack of respect the anime community gave it. As you said, it often felt like the black sheep.

@Vespid His aspiration is to protect his friends and family. You don't need to be the pirate-hokage-wizard king to be a good protagonist
"Character Goals" people expect are VASTLY OVERRATED.
Some of the skepticism he mention about Bleach could've pretain to other fellow shonen.

One piece has a trifecta of motivation against a grandfather, a father like figure, but also a key aspect of brotherhood. Wow man, I've never seen such a well written, intelligent, intelligible and well documented video in the anime community. Thank you for helping me settle my feelings towards Bleach as a big part of my childhood and young adulthood. You create amazing content and deserve more recognition for your tremendous work.
Totally agree. Especially how he explained professionally without swearing and abusive language.
I feel like I can safely say it here;
I love Bleach.
I agree with all your points
Alphonse I get why people don’t like the fullbring arc, but that moment where Ichigo breaks down after losing his fullbring power thinking everyone has been turned against him, and then Rukia returns and he becomes a shinigami again is freaking awesome, first time I saw the pages I could feel the weight behind the imagery, the artwork for it really radiates with emotion.
On point I really can't understand how people hate on fullbring arc it gets you so emotionally invested in it.
Agree with all your points
I feel like Ichigo was the wrong main character
Bleach gets so disrespected. It's honesty really under appreciated.

The way they did Kon dirty like that was annoying, It's like some 80's sitcom were the little sister goes upstairs one episode & never comes back down for the rest of the shows run.
Kon rest his little mod soul haha
S Dunne Chuck never came back after Season 2 of Happy Days, right?
@@cillbipher2613 Yeah he went to forever college, It's funny that being removed from a show & never mentioned again is called Chuck Cunningham Syndrome.
Kon is Morgan from Boy meets world
I honestly never knew Bleach was ever hated or even disliked. As a fan of Fairy Tail I don't even want to imagine what it would be like if Fairy Tail never got it's final season. I hope you guys get something.
SoulReaper 85 your opinion
Lol ft is empirically garabage
Ooowee, wait till you find out the hate Fairy Tail gets lmaoo
Yeah fairy tail and bleach both had one the worst ending of all times even if it’s not the mangakas fault it was terrible
@SoulReaper 85 Honestly the bloopers for the english dub make the final season worth it for me.
The idea that Ichigo is LESS relatable than the other 2 protagonists, BOGGLES my mind. He is literally the most relatable, since he is just a normal 15 kid at the start of the series born and raised in a small town somewhere in japan. He wasn't a trained killer from childhood (Naruto) and whatever the hell is wrong with Luffys head.
duraznoches That's because you're prolly edgy.
Who’s here after bleach has been confirmed for 2021😁😁😁😁
So mfing hyped
I choose to ignore anything after Ichigo gets his powers back at the end of the anime. cause that was an ending, Ichigo remained true to himself in spite of everything and his friends stood by him and came back to aid him in the end, the entire high command of the soul society coming together to return his powers so they could repay him for all he did and all he sacrificed for the world was a good ending!
@@silvercrescent1264 cool
@Martin Lee next ... 2020 they should release Burn the Witch (Bleach Spin-Off)
Here is a question... The "XX/XX/2021" in the trailer it's for the anime or some art concept showcase? Because right after the next arc shots it shows "XX/XX/XXXX"
I think Bleach should have ended with Aizen’s defeat
Y'know you guys don't need to throw Naruto & Luffy under the bus just to make Ichigo look better. All of their personal journeys are different.
Hey Arnold if anything ichigo lacks the motivation unlike the other two he doesn’t have a goal to attain.
Yusuke is that but better
@@theflyingace611 Well one of the main reasons why it's hated is cause Orihime, Chad and Uryu once again take a backseat throughout the arc.
Thank you.
Naruto & One Piece are way more repetitive than Bleach, and here's why:
- Only two similar arcs in Bleach: rescue Rukia arc, then rescue Orihime arc.
And that is Naruto arc without mentioning sasuke, kakashi and jaraiya who has different arcs and character motivations and developments.
majority of anime is repetitive
They decided to give Chad some screentime for a change i guess🤷🏾♂️
True people hate but to me that's where ichigo was show at his lowest
Schuldiges Herz honestly like that was a deep moment for the show but it’s pretty satisfying to watch ichigo absolutely mop the floor with kugo in bankai
wow the love is real in this video, can clearly see how much time you spent on it and as a bleach fan i am very grateful to you :D

I always respect Kubo talent for drawing but sadly can't say the same for his writing.
This is the best Bleach video essay on RUclips! Great job!
This video means so much to the 13 year old me, and it means a lot more to the 20 year old me now. Ichigo’s struggle with being at a crossroads as well as other themes of fear and loss are immensely relatable to me and I’m sure to many others and this video only makes me appreciate Bleach all the more. Kubo is notorious know for stealing idea from other artists.
Poetic how, exactly?
I just want bleach to comeback :(
EVERYONE BIG NEWS!THE BLEACH NOVEL"BURN THE WITCH"IS GETTING AN OVA ADAPTATION THIS SPRING WOOHOOOOO!
Lol
I still have PTSD from this and I'll never forget it. The enormous potential of the cool cast and characters is almost painful, it could easily still be on today if the internet didn't eat the manga/anime alive.
I never watched bleach, and while I attempted to read it I just didn't, but even I knew what Ichigo's motivation was from the very beginning, and from the gossip and spoilers of other people I always knew that Tite stuck to it, he wants to protect his family, and then his friends. I never hated it, because I didn't know it, and I for one found the art to be both delicate and elegant looking while still being visceral.
Ichigo is the most relatable shonen character to me and had great character development
@Sarcastic Author isn't yusuke just hot head who likes to fight what makes him much better
I will protect as many people as I can."
That was Kubo laying out the person Ichigo is.
EDIT: Quote is a little off but the idea is the same and it was to Uryu
Thanks for this comment, really love these words by Kubo.
I wish Bleach had been written as a seinen. The character designs, some of the horror aspects and the overall tone of the story I feel maybe would've been better suited to be explored in a seinen context. Also, rangiku's boobs.
maybe if kubo ever decides to do ultra jump. That's monthly and i think for Araki the shift has worked wonders
I like that idea. I saw the anime without the fillers and then read the TYBW arc. I felt that that the TYBW arc had less goofy scenes than the other arcs and I liked really liked that. Cut out those scenes and make it more adult
Also Rangiku"s boobs that's your last point
I agree, a lot of longer running manga would be good as seinen.

I'm a simple man I see Bleach I clicked!!!
I can’t imagine how much hard work you put on this video, thank you so much
I remember the Bleach fanbase being fucking hyped during the beginning of the Thousand Year Blood War (around 2012-2013, I believe). really maybe i got my time confused cause i just remember when the fullbring arc was out in the manga it was bad but it was manga so most people tolerated it especially b/c bleach chapter takes seconds to read. then when it was animated and an even bigger portion of bleach fans saw it, it was horrendous. from what it was and i mean people actively involved with the series (i'm talking personal experience) they all left when they saw that arc and didn't return. only came back because it was ending and it was apart of their childhood. and when they did return everything was criticism like "its not the same" or "the old bleach was better". but i've been with the series since 06/07 so its been along time i probably just got the years mixed up.
