And right after was not done, we had V2 we had a MASSIVE collapse of both nuns and priests, a mass exodus from religious life into secular society. A widespread, collapse of the faith, emptying of pews, and widespread practice and acceptance of many sins of Modernism among those that identify as Catholic. The extent to which this all so suddenly occurred can only be explained by the chastisement from the removal of graces. Fr. Chad Ripperger explains that every time a priest has told him that he was thinking of leaving the priesthood, ALWAYS that awareness is preceded by the priest abandoning the practice of his private, meditative prayer. And he explained, this results in a removal of grace. Most Catholics today do not understand this very real connection. it seems that it is something more commonly understood among many Protestants, as well as by Traditional Catholics (because the faith is not being adequately taught in the post V2 RCC.)

Careful, you may find yourself converting to Catholicism like I did. Some of the things that drew me to the Catholic Church was the logical, level-headed teachings by Brian and many others in the Church. Coming from a Baptist tradition, it's hard to find anyone that can teach without raising their voice in that "Southern preacher style" and thump you over the head with their Bible.
What this does is says to the world that the Eucharist is immensely important. The Eucharist is not just piece of bread or a custom or a tradition without substance. The Eucharist is to be revered and held with great value. No one is above Jesus Christ.

We must remind ourselves that Ms. Pelosi is a public figure advocating as a Catholic, in a very public manner, that which is in direct opposition to the authentic teachings of the Catholic Church. The actions of the archbishop must be equally public in presentation. Why? Because attempts were made many times by the archbishop to privately correct Ms. Pelosi; now it was time to make a clarification on Church teachings equally public.
She not only points out her Catholic background all the time but she even seems to use to excuse her behavior/views. This needed to be done long before now (like, this should have started back in the 60s) but better late than never. Very thankful for a bishop standing up like this.
This also is role modeling deception for many, especially when clergy do not speak out. It is SHE whom polticized her faith by declaring publicly that she is a devout Catholic (not that even she strives to be!) and by continuing to receive Communion. - to give a message to other Catholics that it is OK to vote for her as a pro-abortion Dem.

This whole ordeal proves that not ALL the Bishops are weak and lacking in Faith. Perhaps most are but there is still a decent amount of Bishops that are faithful. We need to get behind those Bishops. I feel like Traditional (and really just Faithful) Catholics are becoming more and more influential in the Church. I predict the Church will continue to move back to Tradition. Just an anecdote, I’m 21, ALL my friends who are serious about the Faith are traditional. My point is there aren’t many young people in the Church these days but I can tell you the vast majority of those who are young on fire Catholics are not going to be reading America magazine. The Catholic priests/Bishops and married couples of tomorrow are going to be small in number but majority traditional and faithful.

I’ve been questioning publicly for quite some time why both Pelosi and Biden have not been excommunicated from the Catholic Church. Thank God for this stand on the bishop’s part!
In reality they have already been automatically excommunicated “latae sententiae” by being apostates to the moral teachings of the church and causing public scandal to the church and her teachings.
Right. In a way her presence sorta disrupts the atmosphere of the culture by showing up at church in the manner she does. It’s as if indigenous Africans somewhat seeing a European for the first time. Their attention and consciousness immediately shifts. I noticed many people judging her in that sense. As a Protestant I get it I guess.
Thank you for this. I often come across the criticisms you address, but being that it's mostly my own supposedly Catholic family, I've struggled to articulate whilst keeping the peace. I'm getting crotchety in my old age, though, so I'm speaking up more, but that doesn't serve to keep the peace, which isn't a good thing. I'm going to memorize your argument so as to be diplomatic in future conversations. "Speak the truth with love."
I am already crochety , enjoy it, if they complain cry elder abuse . that will hopefully shut them up. Explain that you are sharing your acquired wisdom with them, and as spiritual work of mercy you are admonishing the sinner and counseling the doubtful.
Unfortunately most catholics no longer equate the Holy Eucharist with the body of Christ. They now see the body of Christ as only being the congregation.
Thanks. Nice image. It's playing with divine fire. It also wounds the whole Church for someone sacramentally to enact and express the Church's public communion in Christ while also publicly enacting and expressing opposition to a fundamental aspect of the belief it is handing on. That is ecclesial and sacramental self-contradiction.
Communion is't the reward of saints but the bread of sinners. Requiring total adherence to every value of the church to receive the eucharist simply turns it into a weapon that will drive more people away from the Church. Instead of trying to convince people to change their beliefs you simply seek to expel them and forbid them from partaking in the church community. That only hurts the Church. At this rate Catholicism will be completely irrelevant in the coming centuries if that's the path it chooses to take. Also Brian claims this wasn't a politically motivated move. Then why in Pelosi's 83 years of existence and decades long track record of supporting abortion rights does this Bishop choose this moment when a right that existed for 40 years is about to be repealed? To be totally honest Brian's allegations about this being done for her soul require being consciously obtuse.
@@paulohara4153 Partaking in Communion requires that you be in Communion. It’s in the name. The Church, throughout ALL its history, has always required that you be in agreement with all the essential teachings of the Church to receive communion. If this is weaponizing the Eucharist, we’ve been weaponizing the Eucharist fir 2000 years. This is simply not the case, this is for Pelosi’s own good. Also, according to the Archbishop he has been reaching out to Pelosi for 10 years before he made this decision. He HAS been trying to convince her. The Church is also a mother, a loving mother disciplines her children. This action of the Bishop IS an act of teaching. The fact is Pelosi cannot receive the source and summit of our Faith while actively working against our faith. That’s absurd and its one reason when no one believes in the Eucharist anymore. No one takes it seriously. Its about time the Church gets more serious about serious things.
@@paulohara4153 How does "requiring total adherence to every value of the church to receive the Eurcharist" turn it into a weapon? It's actually required that to recieve the eucharist you agree to 100% of what the church believes. That's why only catholics are allowed to receive. Otherwise anyone off the street, no matter how much they despise Christ and his teachings, could receive his body. Paul warns us against this. And the church does try to change hearts and minds. The bishop literally has given her plenty of warnings and tried to meet publicly. She has denied him every time. I'm not sure why he waited so long. She should have been cut off from the eucharist a long long time ago, but he tried everything he could. I recommend reading cannon law and the catechism on this subject. It makes it clear. And the only people who see this as political instead of spiritual are those who have elevated politics as their religion over their catholic faith. The church has maintained this position consistently for 2000 years. Our is to save souls with the truth. Not to worry about our relevance.
@@paulohara4153 and how does his position mean he is being purposely obtuse? Could you defend that position? His logic, backed by 2000 years of church teaching, seems clear.
@@paulohara4153 My articulation of Church teaching does not mention personal impeccability or private belief, but public action. This social dimension is inherent to what the Church is as the Mystical Body of Christ in the contemporary world. Basic coherence of one's public practical profession is intrinsic to becoming and being the public face of Christ at ecclesial Holy Communion and therefore having the full and formal role of ministering Him in the world. This is the extraordinary, unearned dignity and calling of the Christian approaching Holy Communion. Well done Brian. Once again you have turned a subject that had been muddled , into something clear. I have been re-reading certain subjects you have previously addressed, so I now have more information than I did two years ago. Shortly after Archbishop Cordeleone corrected Pelosi, she traveled to the Vatican, where she had a meeting with Bergoglio , after which she received Holy Communion. Of course, you know this already, I am certain. Why in the world did Rome not support Archbishop Cordeleone? Biden has been to Rome a couple of times during his term, was warmly welcomed and also received Holy Communion. In September 2023, Bergoglio spoke with former president Clinton, via audio video connection, during a meeting of the Clinton global initiative. He spoke about climate change. I am both angry and sad as I remember this. There is example after example of the Holy Eucharist being passed about indiscriminately. I think of all the faithful Catholics who are unable to receive, I.e. divorced and how they limp along, going without. As you can tell I am devolving due to my emotion on the subject, therefore, enough said. Except, perhaps you would consider taking up this subject again, as there has been a large passage of time. Well said, Brian. Support for the Archbishop can be expressed verbally, yes, but remember that while we laity don’t have a lot of power in the Church, we have something the Church desperately needs - money. Bestow it wisely.

Why did you name your video “Politicising Holy Communion” ? It gives the wrong impression. Better to say “ Defending Holy Communion”, as that is what the Archbishop is doing.
Likely because it will draw in people who do not usually see videos like this as the name is similar to videos posted by people arguing against the points he is making. It is misleading but it is a smart move to get the people he wants to click on the video. Most people who agree with the archbishop don't need this video and the people who disagree with the archbishop do, so Brian is targeting them.
@@foxx2990 Brian has openly talked about this tactic in past videos. He said it plays on RUclips's algorithm and increases visibility to a broader audience.
Nancy Pelosi has stated that, "It's not a baby until mom takes it home." That kind of opinion is not nuanced matter of "policy" or "politics". For example two people who want to reduce crime and violence may come to differing conclusions on how to accomplish that. One may say gun control the other may say tougher crime sentences. Those ideas are worthy of debate with the understanding that people are trying to solve a problem in good faith. The Catholic Church does not have a doctrinal stance on how to solve except the concepts it teaches on live and forgiveness. The clergy would be wrong to refuse communion to someone because of their policy position on issues such as gun control and sentencing. The Church does have doctrine on Abortion. Therefore politicians positions on this issue is a matter of church concern. Also, even from a civil issue, the US constitution gives us the right to "LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Almost all law enforcement agencies in the US have a mission statement that includes the protection of "LIFE and property". The protection of life is one of the most important roles of government. In this regard the American government has failed due to people like Ms. Pelosi. Its the job of the church to point that out. They should also point out politicians who support the death penalty and assisted suicide.

'wall of separation' comes only from a letter by Thomas Jefferson to a denomination calming their fears by reassuring them that the government won't impose its heavy hand on their faith. (15:15) 'marketing themselves as compassionate when in effect causing more harm' ... this is the hallmark of Democrats

It’s his duty. His own soul is in danger if he refuses to act as the Church requires him. He does not have the ability to be indifferent, he must act. To save his soul, hers, and to prevent scandal.
I'm currently non-practicing - I know I'm not meant to take the Eucharist. Why is that so very hard for Pelosi to understand? But I also agree with her challenge. All Catholic politicians who deeply and personally uphold ideas that have the intended effect of ending human lives (euthanasia, the death penalty, abortion, war) should be given a letter refusing communion as well.
I can only hope that a priest would care enough about me to correct me if he saw me acting contrary to the church. That would be an act of love, not ignoring it and keep welcoming me to communion knowing I'm in mortal sin.
Our spiritual garment has to be clean before coming into His presence in the Holy Eucharist. read that just recently, although I can't recall the source at the moment. Maybe Sr Natalie of Hungary?
If she wants to receive Holly Communion she will somewhere else. Don’t worry. She can cheat a priest and the Catholic Church, but she can’t cheat God. She is taking her own condemnation.
You make a very interesting point Mr Holdsworth. My question is, if we are holding communion from public political figures who are denying the teachings of the Church, shouldn’t we also deny to all politicians who work against the interests of the poor, or cause unnecessary war, or any other anti-Jesus act? Why stop at only abortion when there are so many other causes that politicians across the political spectrum are harming for their own self-gratification?
The issue in ethics is which is worse: physical death by abortion or spiritual death caused by grave scandal of an occult, incest connected evil of a tax exempt lower insurance cost purported presumed status of "higher vocation" (Pope St John Paul 11's Council for the Family teaching document, TTMHS, PCF, 1995, 35; cf. St Paul 1Cor 7:25-34) groomed inducement of consecrated celibacy to male female marriage given by Cordileone and other diseased familyist family members?
14:18 I think the real accomplishment is that this is a form of social pressure that just might make Nancy Pelosi take back her position on this issue.
God help this archbishop because he is among the VERY few clergy we have with the backbone or really are true follower of Jesus Christ and His Church, because we have a lot of wolves in shepherd's clothing.
While I agree with you 100% it is once again confusing that Ms Pelosi can receive the Eucharist in Washington DC per Bishop Wilton Gregory but not from her home parish.
The church is not a police state. A correction is given for the good of the sinner. Someone who presents themselves to holy communion unworthily is bringing down condemnation on themselves. Unfortunately she is among the majority of modern poorly catechized Catholics that probably don’t know better. It is the bishops who will be held to greater account for their apostasy.

What consequences will Ms Pelosi receive for taking communion whilst under a communion ban imposed by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileon? Moreover, will the Jesuit priest be suspended for directly defying this order?
She is receiving unworthily and therefore bringing down condemnation on herself. Any bishop that participated in it is an apostate and heretic and will be held to account on judgment day
I don't always agree with you since you often defend past church pronouncements that applied to a context which no longer exists--but here you are spot on! God bless you as you support prophetic bishops actually defending God's word in context!
She should just leave and worship God on her own as many Catholics have done. Especially after all the child molestation cases and all the Native Americans that were abused. But I guess hey it’s ok for the priest that committed these atrocities it’s ok for them to receive the Eucharist. Do you see the hypocrisy. And hey during COVID you could just take communion with a spiritual prayer.
The problem is not if the archbishop has the authority to do so. The problem is the timing and modality. She has been pro-choice for years, why acting now? Probably her soul was not dear to the archbishop when she was not house speaker. Sure, there is no correlation with Roe vs. Wade, yeah of course there is not… No attempt to influence politics and law, not at all. The fact that this is happening now is a coincidence, right? There are many other politicians, openly pro-choice and catholic. I expect a list of names to be treated equally and denied Holy Communion. And the list should include pro guns, pro death penalty, white supremacists as well. And all of course should be made public. Again, the problem is not his right to deny Holy Communion, but how he did it, which rises more than one doubt on his true intentions. It is quite hard to believe the motivation was the soul of a lost sheep in his flock. No, the timing and modality were chosen to make an impact in the public debate. So yes, that is using Holy Communion for political reasons. Well done archbishop, well done.
I disagree. It is one thing to silently hold a position but it is entirely another thing to state that you wish to codify the murder of the innocent into federal law by any means possible. Not all issues are equal. Abortion is an intrinsic evil and any politician that promotes it while also stating in the same breath that they are a Catholic is an apostate and automatically excommunicated.
@@revelation12_1 Apostasy and excommunication you say… Look, I hope you realize that that is maybe your wish but that’s not what we are talking about here. She has not been excommunicated. She has been banned from Holy Communion on the ground that she is persevering in grave sin. Now, if the main goal of the archbishop’s decision is to save her soul, then why making it a public matter? And why doing this now and not for example when she was not house speaker? The timing (overturning Roe vs Wade) and modality (public) reveal the true intentions of the archbishop. Besides, if the ban is because of persevering in grave sin, then also catholic politicians that in other grave sins, such as pro guns, white supremacists, pro death penalty should be treated the same way. If the main goal of the ban is to bring them to repentance, as they are all in grave sin they all should also deserve the same “loving” correction from the Church. Am I right? Or do we love more brothers and sisters pro-choice but we do not care about souls in other grave sins? What we need to ask ourselves is this: do we want a Church that uses muscles in political fights and use its influence to force the debate and law regardless of the consciences of citizens? A powerful Church that intervenes in politics using all means to eradicate evil and pursue our vision of a Christian society? Or do we believe that the mission of the Church is to be salt of the earth, help humanty grow and bring all humans to Christ so they can recognize Him as their savior? @@revelation12_1 I find it hard to believe he did not have any channel to reach her. She probably has a congregation and priests she is close to. The archbishop could have communicated his decision through those and there was really no need to make it public. That is not what usually happens for other people, bishops do not write public letters to announce they are banned from Holy Communion, regardless if one accepts or not to talk with the bishop. Making it public, and making it public now, has another purpose, we must be intellectually honest. Clearly Holy Communion here is used as a means to an end, to influence the current political battle. Before being an institution the Church is ecclesia, a community of brothers and sisters who believe Jesus is our savior, and look at him as the good shepard, There are many ways to help a lost sheep, and I am not convinced that the way the archbishop has chosen is the correction Jesus has shown us in the gospel.

I don't think most baptised people should be refuse to the Sacrament of the Eucharist; the Church isn't a Safehouse for Saints, but a Hospital for Sinners, and one of the treatments of Sin is the Eucharist. If we refuse someone who sins their ability to take the Sacrament, then we refuse them the ability to heal. However, I do think that if someone doesn't venerate the Body of Christ and continues to sin, then they should be refuse its nourishment, like how someone who takes Anti-depressants and still is depressed shouldn't just be given more anti-depressants. The treatment doesn't work. If Nancy Pelosi begins to regret their actions because the sacrament has been removed and comes back to the fold, then the healing of the Sacrament has worked in its absence. If its removal doesn't motivate her, then she's never venerated the sacrament in the first place, meaning that its healing wouldn't have worked, either way and its removal is arbitrary.
It’s because her beliefs about abortion and her public declaration of being a Catholic make her an apostate and therefore unworthy to receive. We must never receive the Eucharist in a state of mortal sin.
God The Son Jesus Christ appointed His apostles first Pope/Priests, gave THEM His authority, instituted Sacraments And Commanded them to spread His Church Infallibly to the world. Only those in the state of Grace are allowed to receive Holy Communion, no matter who you are. Once blessed by a Catholic Priest, The Host transforms into The Body and Blood Of Jesus Christ. Proven by Drs and scientists to be live heart tissue. See Eucharist Miracle Pope Francis on RUclips.
The Eucharist must never become a commodity, a "thing" to be given or taken away, or to be used as leverage against someone. His excellency has abused both the Eucharist and his authority. He has turned a sign of peace into a sign of conflict.
We believe that the Eucharist is the body blood soul and divinity substantially present in the bread and wine. Anyone who upholds the murder of children and receives communion is receiving unworthily and bringing condemnation on themselves.

How arrogant must he be to believe he can decide who receives the Body of Christ. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

I'm young, fairly traditional, and read America magazine....

Probably because they have dirt on pedophiliac priests, that if the bishops dared to defy, their past sins will come to haunt them.

Right. In a way her presence sorta disrupts the atmosphere of the culture by showing up at church in the manner she does. It’s as if indigenous Africans somewhat seeing a European for the first time.
We all must also take up our Cross daily, and Nancy Pelosi's at this providential juncture is now clear. At this stage in her journey she must now grasp it if she wants to grow and to be truly fruitful.
Great discussion Brian... Thanks
Thank you for sharing all of your excellent work.

Great explanation!!!!

Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. (12:38) Factcheck: In the U.S., the no establishment clause would actually be read as 'Separation of Church from State'. ie: It is almost a requirement that politicians adhere to a moral tradition but they can never dictate doctrines to religious institutions.

Question if you are pro choice not pro abortion can you still receive communion?
No.
If they hold these views they are “apostates” and are all automatically excommunicated even if the church doesn’t formally announce it.
Love your take on this issue. Excellent!
I can only hope that a priest would care enough about me to correct me if he saw me acting contrary to the church. That would be an act of love, not ignoring it and keep welcoming me to communion knowing I'm in mortal sin.

Full disclosure I am neither left nor right nor pro abortion nor pro anything aside from my own relationship with Christ

Making it public, and making it public now, has another purpose, we must be intellectually honest. Clearly Holy Communion here is used as a means to an end, to influence the current political battle.
Before being an institution the Church is ecclesia, a community of brothers and sisters who believe Jesus is our savior, and look at him as the good shepard, There are many ways to help a lost sheep, and I am not convinced that the way the archbishop has chosen is the correction Jesus has shown us in the gospel.

You gotta lay off the marvel
@@revelation12_1 That's fair. I've also see more arguments based within doctrine of the Church, rather than a layman's argument.
