I didn't realize people were were claiming to be "AI artists" I have been part of the artist community as a consumer, not an artist, but I still have seen many times the amount of effort that goes into art, it still amazes me. Even though I like AI art, I don't like people like that saying they are artists. Claiming to be an AI artist is just a funny way of saying "Thought up a few ideas and clicked a button until something cool came out." Actual artists, not just traditional artists, takes so much more time and effort.

What if they use ai arts as a medium for them to draw on them. For an example, they use an ai to create a drawing and put it on a canvas. Then they draw the blank part of the canvas with whatever creativity they have. Is that count as ai art?

@@misterdaydream964 yeah thats making art, that'd be pretty similar to using a photo, stock image or another drawing as a background to draw on. If you're the one who made the brush and mixed the paint that can make a great piece of art, you deserve to be proud. But if you're just the user and brag about it that's kinda lame.
Point being: Merely wielding a brush doesn't make you an artist, and mere wielding of AI tools doesn't, either. You can't tell whether someone's an artist by what medium they're using but by how they're using it: Writing a prompt and getting a result that will be artistically interesting are two quite different things, absolute hacks will often produce absolute garbage with bad colours, bad composition, bad themes, bad everything using either AI tools or brushes. Salty that AI artists can't wield a brush or have an intimate knowledge of colour perception and its tripfalls and still get good results? Well, so do 3d artists. A painted image of just a wine glass with all the right caustics is certainly more impressive from the craft POV than a rendered one -- but, ultimately, that's craft value, not artistic. It's still a simple wine glass from that perspective, the additional craft value doesn't elevate its meaning.

@@aoeuable the process of making art is completely different from that of AI art making. One solely requires prompts while the other requires a physical(like moving your hand around the piece) process of painting or sculpting, even in digital media.
Before you say photography, it's still a physical process, not just clicking a button(as some critics may say). It's about finding the correct angle, lighting, composition and more, most of which must be manipulated by the photographer before making a shot.
I don't hate AI art. I respect the process, and I like the art. However, I hate when AI "artists" refer to themselves as such, when they're only creating prompts and leaving most of the handiwork to AI.

To get good results out of AI you need to either do *very* lengthy prompt massaging, massage things afterwards using ordinary 2d graphics programs, or both.
And, just for the record, no, I'm not an AI artist. I'm a programmer with enough Blender chops to get something out there that doesn't completely suck. Maybe the difference is that I know how those tools work and how much *not* magic and not intelligent they are, When AIs ever become good enough to replace actual artists they'll form a union and insist on proper payment, we're absolutely not there yet.

I wish more people pointed out the need and wish of being part of this group of "artists" or have that title
There's so much obsession with language and words when it comes to art, artists, or animations.
It's this need to not be excluded that to me looks toxic and cultish. Along with this "community" (Half of the artists don't say they are in a community though I guess, so that's good)
Here's the thing. Would you be happy if instead of being called an AI Artist, you would be called something else that's accurate and not demeaning? I bet most wouldn't, I would actually bet money on it. There's also no universe where you would not be excluded or looked down upon by artists if this was the case.
People are obsessed with getting that title of AI Artist (or discouraging it). It's just very flawed and I feel like the only solution is being the louder voice and making sure what YOU believe goes through (not what's right or what isn't). In another world, they have no motivation to be called an artist, I could give a realistic solution, like just giving them another word that still says that what they posted is cool. In this world, you have to change language and history entirely.
Edit: I guess not everyone is obsessed, some are just ignorant. Everyone who defends the term "AI Artist" must be obsessed or feel attacked though.

Noobs using AI and bragging about it is another topic, but sorry, most times to get something really brilliant you have to know how which AI works and how to use different tags, how to explore on keywords and operate them in which way and also have to know basics of composition and stuff like that - which is artsy. So bare minimum of work is required to create some expressive and shocking AI COLLAGE. But it's only my opinion ;)

    • @tauriietauriie6009
      @tauriietauriie6009  2 года назад +2

I have watched Challa's video, however the difference between a collage and AI is that "surprise" (with rolling eyes emoji) the person writing the keybords do not choose the images merged by AI themselves. They choose the words and then click on the picture they like the most - in this sense they AI still does all of the work for you so comparing it to collages is not exactly the same. Sure AI can be used by artists, but your point about this deep understanding of composition and other art principles is semi true. I tried AI softwares with friends and even the ones with no knowledge at all were able to create something better than they ever would with their hands alone

    • @daisytvt

@@tauriietauriie6009 Actually it's up to a person that uses AI. There are bots that feature photo bashes with your own photos and you can choose whichever version you like. Also most times the chosen style or quality changes elements that AI bashed, so that it isn't close to original. When it comes to style - also many artists take someone else's art style and use it for their own profit - should they be called artists if they do such terrible thing?
As for noobs - pieces may seem awesome and stuff, but if it was about more complex composition AI wouldn't generate that in desired way. AI is another tool that is to be perfected so I believe that after some more sittings with AI, the pieces that came out by your friends' output - if they had to redo it for second time - would be much better as they got to know mechanics. You can't say that this isn't learning and working. (Same with painting using Photoshop and pre-made -by someone else oh my, brushes and textures).
AI for sure will be exploited, such as there always will be art thieves and tracers, etc., amongst this wild community and probably these issues will never be solved. Of course we should raise this problem and enlighten people around us, but otherwise there's no use crying over spilled milk.
