Holy hell, the slot and that whole idea is just inspried. Exactly right, exactly the same orientation on both sides, EASILY. Wow...now I know what to make. Thanks!
Outstanding. The simplest solutions create the finest results. As a beginning knife grinder this is huge and exponentially has increased my abilities. In fact I made this by first ordering a grinding jig off Amazon for $30 or so and added your most excellent adaptation. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
That is what I was looking for! Great design! Simple, easy to make and does a double duty. My life has just been improved. Cheers and Thank You for sharing. Will be following all your other vids... :-)
I have a 70 Euro jig, but when i saw your video, i was thinking: owesome! Now i made one with two screws, so it doesn‘t wobble. Works 100 times better than the 70 euro jig. Change from left to right is the fastest of all jigs i found on the web. Grinding is now easy! Thank you so much!!!
This is an incredible idea, thanks for sharing it!! I watched a lot of videos with grinding jigs but most of them had their disadvantages. Now I'm recreating this one with a litte optimization for myself. I'm adding a groundplate mounted with hinges, so the Jig can't wobble and will be always flat on the table. Thanks man!
Great video, well done. You did a fantastic job showing what you had created in an informative and entertaining manner. Total credit to you. Much like a few others here i will do a copy of your jig as i think it will work really well for my amateur needs
With just a few tweaks this idea can be used in place of the amazing Moen Hardcore Knife Jig which also rotates to hold your exact clamping. That design is not DIY friendly but this center slot is, and could even be retrofitted on existing jigs. Excellent!
Great jig i am a retired knife maker and thats the best bevel jig i have seen tell me this though why do you have a adjustment screw on the angle base when you can just angle the grinder tool rest its not a criticism its just i sometimes used an angle jig and laid it flat and angled the grinder tool rest, but saying that its a great jig
This is fantastic and I have been looking at lots of different ways to do jigs etc but haven't had spare time to make one, I live in the UK, would you be able to make one to sell to me please :) Many thanks Tom
I'm in the middle of a retro caravan refurb so i don't have time for anything else at the moment but I will keep you in mind when i get back to making videos again
Only thing I would suggest is to drill & tap the guide to install a vertical handle on either side for more leverage & possibly more precision when grinding. Definitely a nice setup though
Wow, this is by far the best looking and easiest to make jig i've seen online and you've got me very interested. I have a few questions if you dont mind I've been looking for aluminum angle iron and I'm seeing it in multiple lengths/widths.... I'm not sure how much it would matter, but how long is each "leg" and are you just using a 12" long piece I'm seeing options of having Leg 1 be 0.5" (12-13mm) and Leg 2 at 1" (25mm) and the overall thickness: 0.125" (which would be about 3mm) But i do see 6mm (.25" thickness available as well) Thank you very much!
Great Jig, I plan on making one. Can you be more specific on the dimensions? I see where you mentioned using 50 mm aluminum angle, that't about 2 inch on this side of the pond, put you don't mention the thickness. What was the width and thickness of the channel you used? I will be going with stainless on the channel because of the dipping in water to cool the grind.
When making my jig, I realized, why make the jig, angle adjustable when my grinder is easily adjustable. Easier to make the jig at 90 degrees and adjust the table for bevel angle.
Holy hell, the slot and that whole idea is just inspried. Exactly right, exactly the same orientation on both sides, EASILY. Wow...now I know what to make. Thanks!
I watch many videos about metal work but this is so far the best jig what I found , thanks .

Hi thank for your comments I used 50mil by 6 mil angle about 80mil long hope this helps
Beautiful mr!
2:50 what angle are you using for the bevel grind?

50x50mm angle 6mm thick thanks for looking
Excellent work and thanks for the share. Hope its okay if i copy your jig?
Hi David, not a problem go ahead
i like it thats the one i'm gonna build
How do you set the correct angle? Ie. 20° , 22° or 17° ? Listen, I didn't listen to your audio I'll do that tomorrow.
When making my jig, I realized, why make the jig, angle adjustable when my grinder is easily adjustable. Easier to make the jig at 90 degrees and adjust the table for bevel angle.
Yes that would work both ways just omit the angle adjusting screw thank for the comment
Thanks u helped
Glad you liked it
Do you sell it?
Use a brass nut and bolt, you wont scrape the crap out of the metal plate you are useing when grinding
Ворованные видео всегда обрезаны по краям.
Inaudible video
Sorry that you had trouble hearing it, I’ve hit listen to it myself and it seemed ok
@@bikesbirdsandbonsai2012 Too much metal grinding without hearing protection?
