When making my jig, I realized why make the jig, angle adjustable when the work table of my grinder is easily adjustable. Leave the jig at 90 degrees and adjust the bevel angle with the table.
Because the work table moves and will work itself loose. It's easier to keep it set at a 90°. I welded my table down permanently at 90° because I got tired of messing with it
I love this idea. You could hold the knife in place by adding a mudguard washer on each of your 2 bolts. Which could tighten onto the blade & remove need for the G clamp. Totally awsome for all straight blades. Great work!
I am about to teach my 30 year old son how to blade-smith. I was interested in a jig as I do my bevels free hand and have the scars to prove it lol. I must say I am very, very impressed with your simple yet workable design. I am not to proud to say I'm in the workshop tomorrow to make one like yours myself. I shall however be using angle iron that's older than you by a good few years. Amazing what off-cuts you find a use for that projects like yours remind the brain what's in the deepest and darkest pits of the scrap corner lol. Good work young man.
Great idea with the washers. If you use all the same size, or keep track of the specific sizes used, it will be easy to repeat the same grind on later knives. I think I might copy your jig. It's one of the most practical ones I've seen.
Good idea to use all the same size. I've created a washer chart so I can keep track of the bevel sizes according to blade thickness. Thanks for watching, good luck if you build one!
I've gone back and watched a few of the other videos and I have decided that out of several designs that I've considered, yours is the most practical. I'll definitely be giving it a try. Thanks for sharing your build.
This is really pretty cool, but how do you deal with the curved end toward the tip on most knives. Do you have a different jig for that part or is this one intended for blunt tip knives only?
You would cut the shape of the blade in advance, in other words the shape of the knife would be cut then offered up to grinding the bevel, this would mean that the exact same bevel would be grind over the length of the cutting edge, hope this makes sense.
Great jig and video. I am going to attempt to make one for myself. I just retired and getting started in knifemaking for a hobby. Thanks so much for sharing.
Great jig man, and as I was watching I thought of just one small, and easy, tweak? You could use some round stock for handles, with rubber bicycle handlebar grips for comfort n control!
Well done and presented. Don't apologize for your work. Everyone starts somewhere. Painting your jigs helps keep them from rusting and makes them easer to find. A nut welded to the adjustment plate with the bolt threaded into it will allow you to adjust the angle of grind without using washerd or cutting the slot in the plate. Thanks for the video.
As a new blacksmith in training, im terrible at grinding in my edges. This is the perfect tool for me to use till i get more practice in freeballing it.
Came across your vid today , I'm well impressed , easy to follow instruction , and easy to build , just been out in the shed sorting out materials , got one on its way .... Thanks buddy .
Very nice video Could you tell me the measurements on the pcs of angle iron & flat stock and size of hinge and how far apart the holes in the angle iron ..Thank you much
THANK YOU for the GREAT video Brad!! I reproduced your Bevel Jig today and IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY!!!! I really appreciated the easy to follow instructions and how you simplified/streamlined your information!!! 👍
Awesome! I made something similar, but didn't put handles on it, handles seem like a huge upgrade as far as even pressure and control of the jig, nice build, btw I was looking forward to seeing y'all on ALONE, sucks that your brother jacked up his ankle, hope he's a'ight! Thanks again!
Hi man, I would rather weld a nut which would hold an angle setting bolt. The bolt thread pitch gives much finer and always repeatable angle setting. You could also use a counter nut to secure the set angle.
Just stopped by to tell you I have COPD breathing disorder brought about by breathing years of stone dust, it does not occur without lung irritant. You don't want COPD, suggest a mask. Clever project. Have you thought about setting it up so you can grind on the bottom? If so, then the little clamp will be out of your way for a clean pass the entire blade length. Thanks for the video...
Congrats sir, you win bevel jigging. One thing that occurred to me is that instead of using a clamp, you could slip fender washers in between the head of the knife platform bolts and the jig and use them to clamp the knife to the body, you could also use wing nuts instead of nuts in that setup. Hands down this is the jig I've been looking for. Ticks all of my boxes
I had to pause the bid to come and say THANKS for - - Speaking clearly without mumbles or "um's" - Tight editing, cutting out the needless and repetitive - Keeping the volume of the music at a sane level so we can focus on your voice AND for not using annoying screamer grunge or hypno dance trance music And, nice job on the fab up - Thanks
AWESOME IDEA, I have been trying my bevels by feel and so far I have gotten good results, but its really a pain and long process. I will try this jig and see how it works, looks promising!
Instead grinding a slot for adjusting could have just tapped the hole and used the bolt with a wing nut. That would achieve a much finer adjustment. Overall a great and easy build
nice , young man teaching an old man how to make this jig very nice thank you
When making my jig, I realized why make the jig, angle adjustable when the work table of my grinder is easily adjustable. Leave the jig at 90 degrees and adjust the bevel angle with the table.
Damn... Thanks for pointing that out. Can't believe it didn't occur to me. *Massive facepalm*
Because the work table moves and will work itself loose. It's easier to keep it set at a 90°. I welded my table down permanently at 90° because I got tired of messing with it
My work table doesn’t go beyond 90degrees, making it virtually impossible to use while grinding bevels.
Do you find all of the bevel videos Just so can put the same comment on all of them

So, refreshing to see a young man articulate, well spoken and NOT blaring some hip hop music during video.
Great job!
Thanks!!

Thank you very much! Good luck with passing down the craft and building a jig of your own. All the best!
Most applicable diy jig ever, simple tools easy for remake
Clear presice and to the point. Thanks for not talking a load of crap.
It took me a little bit to remember where I know this young man's face from. Nice to see he's still going at it.
It is the best guide I found, you are a genius, sorry for the mistakes, I do not speak English and use the translator
This is a great and simple jig to build! Great job!
Luke Thomas thanks a lot!
Ingenious and I'm REALLY digging the music: excellent that good sir!
Very nice work, video and narration. Thank you
I built this jig with a few differences and it works really good! Very good video with excellent step by step tutorials. Thanks!
Luke Thomas glad this video could be helpful! Thanks for watching!
This is the best jig video I've seen. Thanks man. And I hate that y'all had to leave so early on alone.
That's a neat jig. Well done!
Thanks bud. I've seen a few vids on this kind of jig. This one looks easy and effective. I'll try it myself. Appreciate ya.
just made this perfect little tool, thank you !
Cool jig man. The washers and bolts are a nice touch.
Thanks for the idea. Gonna make me one ASAP
Great idea with the washers. If you use all the same size, or keep track of the specific sizes used, it will be easy to repeat the same grind on later knives. I think I might copy your jig. It's one of the most practical ones I've seen.

Nice!!! I had everything but the bold figured out, now i know how to finish my jig. Thanks!!

Man that was a great jig i am building one for sure thank you!!!!
Nicely done, simple, effective and easy to build.
Thanks
Thanks bud!! I'm going hinge shopping tomorrow!
Great jig and video. I am going to attempt to make one for myself. I just retired and getting started in knifemaking for a hobby. Thanks so much for sharing.
Great idea and video.
Excelente trabajo hermano, saludos desde Managua, Nicaragua
Nice and simple, allows for personal changes.
That's a different way than what I have seen. Looks really good man
Thank you. I think this is the best jig I've seen. Easy to make, accurate grinds, whats not to like? Hood tutorial.
Great jig man, and as I was watching I thought of just one small, and easy, tweak? You could use some round stock for handles, with rubber bicycle handlebar grips for comfort n control!
Looks good and easy to build.
Good job,Boy. I like yours job. 👍👍👍
Good job, and good luck with your knife making projects!
went here for the jig and im glad that i found a channel that im really liking
Very nice! I have something similar that was given to me. What kind of grinder do you have?
Nice job on the beveled edge, well done buddy. Thanks for the video.
Wonderful... what size is the angle?... flat stock?

great job . nice hobby .
great video nice fixture does the job well
Nice design but I think you could have used the Jack screw and Dunaway of all those washers
That is a kick ass jig. I might use various lengths of tube for the angle instead of washers. Nice work
dude this project is awesome!
Thanks!

Thanks for the video, that is a very nice system you made.
Thanks for the design for the common man.
What demensions did you use for the angle iron and flat stock. And where did you drill your holes? Thanks
Watched other videos but yours is the best one. Great job! I’m building yours, thanks for the video.
Awesome job young man very impressive. Good looking jig too.
that’s awesome! Very clever and simple design!
Very nice video Could you tell me the measurements on the pcs of angle iron & flat stock and size of hinge and how far apart the holes in the angle iron ..Thank you much
Great jig. I am going to try it- thanks
THANK YOU for the GREAT video Brad!! I reproduced your Bevel Jig today and IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY!!!! I really appreciated the easy to follow instructions and how you simplified/streamlined your information!!! 👍
hello and to hold the blade, it would not be possible to put some neodymium magnets?
i know its been awhile from today but why don't you use the middle hole to tighten down the work piece and get rid of the clamp?
A very inspiring, practical and easy to follow. Thank you young man..

I am happy to hear you brother 💟

Did you mod your belt sander? I have a similar one and thought I'd never be able to grind bevels with it.
great narration and good music at a low volume is enjoyable.
unclebuck thanks for watching!
Great video. Thanks.

I'm definitely building a version of this, nice jig.
This is a great idea! I can see some usefulness with sharpening lawn mower blades as well! Nice work
I bet it would work great for mower blades! Thanks for watching!
Great jig. I imagine you could fine tune the angle by turning the lower nut. Nice job..

Best job you have done keep it up
Very simple and very nice!
Thanks!
How bout add a like some movement on it so u can get those curve kife? That be good no?
What welder you using just a 120/240 joyal? Would that suffice?
I had to pause the bid to come and say THANKS for -

Craig Lumpy Lemke Thanks for watching! I'm glad you liked the video!
Craig Lumpy Lemke
What Craig said. Very well done!
Thanks!
Why not use magnets too hold blade istead of clamp on knife bevels
Thanks for sharing. Smart and simple, and the most important: it works ! Good job
Great jig Ben! What angle do you recommend to start with?
i love that jig. I will be making one.
Made it and it worked great
One of the most handy jigs I've ever seen. Thanks for the idea!
AWESOME IDEA, I have been trying my bevels by feel and so far I have gotten good results, but its really a pain and long process. I will try this jig and see how it works, looks promising!
Nice job!
nice jig, maybe got some mesaurements for me, and how for from the edge did u put the hinge?
Hey mate how do you do a radius on the end of a knife?
you would have to free hand that or tip the jig up to either side which would also be freehand
Instead grinding a slot for adjusting could have just tapped the hole and used the bolt with a wing nut. That would achieve a much finer adjustment. Overall a great and easy build
Good idea!! Thanks!
Thats awesome bro... 👍
Nicely made tacks
Muy bueno el video saludos amigo Daniel
Im trying to make a knife but im not sure what some good angles are to make the bevel?
Good job 👍
Great idea!!!
Bravo, sir. ❤
Beau travail Bravo et merci
That's good idea and very simple, thanks 😊👍
Awesome vid man. Thank you. This is going to be super helpful for me. 👍🏻
Hola.....es una muy buena idea.....te felicito y te saludo desde Argentina - Córdoba....👍👍👍👌👌👌👌
Best homemade jig I've seen. Could you please give me some measurements on it? Thanks
Lonnie
Pretty cool! Thanks for the idea.
