these videos are brilliant, great sitting back and reliving some of the best nights and years of our lives. id do anything to go back to the start of 1993 again!!!
The learning curve. This is the beginning of the road to the Promised Land in Barcelona 1999. Nothing comes easy and there will be pains and trials along the way though. The losses to Juve and elimination at the hands of Dortmund made United even stronger as time goes by.
Compare this 1997 and the 1999 team. Progress is staggering. Its actually pretty amazing how quickly Utd learned to play in Europe. Only 4 seasons in the Champions League, and at the 5th time of asking they win it (1999). Arsenal still havent. Chelsea was hunting for over 10 years.
1st was 1993.94 group stage, 2nd was 1994/5 group stage, Uefa Cup in 1995/96 1st round, 3rd 1996/97 semis, 4th 1997/98 quarters, 5th 1998/99 winners., 6th 1999/00 quarters.
You say that like Dortmund weren't a quality team they had Sammer, Möller, Reuter, Riedle, Ricken etc... They were good but also lucky in both legs. I still don't know how ManUtd didn't score in that tie they did everything but. In fact there was actually a disallowed goal and there wasn't much if anything wrong with it and hit woodwork with keeper well beaten and had multiple shots cleared off the line. Dortmund's goal in their home game 1-0 1st leg was also deflected. The away goal rule had a big effect on the outcome of this tie. They were lucky to get a home clean sheet then the early goal at OldTrafford from Ricken made it so ManUtd needed 3 without reply. Dortmund beat Juventus 3-1 in the final with the stars Juventus had Zidane, DelPiero, Vieri, Deschamps, Boksic etc...ManUtd didn't have a bad campaign at all, thrashed Porto 4-0 in Quarter-finals they had taken 16pts out of a possible 18 in their group with the likes of AC Milan in and ManUtd destroyed them.

@@rhysgallagher58 There wasn't a group stage before 1994/95 it was 2 leg rounds all the way through.
yep true but then ferguson only won 2 in 26 years at the club
Brillaint these videos, thanks fo sharing. Not sure why everyone said Porto was the hardest out of all the Quarter Finalists tho.
Because they beat AC Milan in the opening group stage. AC Milan at that time were one of the top UCL sides along with Juventus and Inter.
They outplayed Milan in the San Siro (3-2), had the best forward in Jardel and had steamrolled past everyone in their group.
@@TheHeiky11 AC Milan didn't even make the knockouts that season they got humbled by Rosenborg in the same group
Cantona retired too early he should have carried on playing for 3 more years.
Got beaten by BVB TWICE

Back when United bought who ever they liked.. money was no object. .then put a flag up in the Stretford end announcing how shit City was. .
