Which link is the Addon link? I have some of them, but not all the ones you have. If there is one that makes using consumables easier, that would be great! Thanks for your videos, I'm currently only level 36 on my main, (( Stamina Warden )) so I don't have access to some of the skills you recommend. But, I'm trying to practice the rotations and learning how to be a good DPS for when I get to end content.
12:23 or im just getting stuck doing one thing or the other on console because he game doesnt cancel anything for me.... Sometimes... But maybe using the light attack inbetween is the key... Oh yes... Were getting there xD
Advice for the new player, do not be afraid or feel bad for blocking toxic dungeon players. You'll keep running into them and you don't need that negativity in the game. I got at least 10 players that I've blocked due to their anger issues. Lol, and it didn't even have to be towards me. Don't let those small few ruin it for you!
Agreed, when I was a noob, I had this guy in a dungeon keep complaining after every mob every boss about how much dps I was doing, and when I finally said something to him he threatened to put me on the “black list”, lol. Side note: he left at the final boss of Normal WGT, and we 3 manned without him......loved it!!!
A lot of the standing far back for range and mag players I’ve noticed is not necessarily new players but people who played alone for a long time and do this for survivability. They’re not doing it to be intentionally difficult.
I for one and one of those people who do basically all I can solo mainly because I don’t have a group to run with and then when it comes to dungeons and trials I’m not necessarily used to running with groups to be honest but I always do try my best and I tell the group that
@@MrVoid-tr4bz I also play magsorc and an avid player of pvp so I’m so used to sustaining myself in dungeons and solely focus on my dps and I cross heal because I’m used to watching player hp bars and with so many shields I can give the tank a break if needed jack of all trades type play style 😌
Im a solo player i play back cause most people i find are higher up than me so i try to stay back and let them get the exp and loot but i will help them stay alive if they need it this game is crazy complicated
@@mjmerritt7758 I feel it and no worries because at times it truly is difficult this game but if you were ever interested I live stream every day and we could always help you out if you have questions or really just anything. We like having a fun time while still giving advice to newer players
I was mainly DPS and I used to play a lot with a friend that was a healer, he always told me that I move too much around but I actually did not understand what was the problem (is not like I'm going to die was my way of thinking), that was until I started playing healer and oh boy....i wanted to call him and apologize for all those dungeons we ran together. hahaha, every time all the DPS are running everywhere and me trying to buff the group and heal them, nightmare.... Appreciate your healers guys, and stay in position, no need to be moving so much
Soooo true! I get it.. and.. embarassed to say Ive done it... but it is so demoralizing when you are just running behind the "big dude" and cant learn anything from picking up scraps! LOL
I disagree. If you want to learn a dungeon for the first time, theres nothing stopping you from walking in. Dont expect people to do normal randoms super slow
Well, as a solo player that ignores the social aspects of the game and sometimes is forced to do group content while learning a dungeon or whatever, I was today years old when I learned about positioning and will do this from now on.
I've also always been like that until I made a real good friend last year who basically told me I'm doing everything wrong at all times. He was kind of astonished that I was several hundred cp higher than him, but knew next to nothing about this game lol.
@@ldhenderson95 that was all I was doing. I had barely even done any dungeons at 500 cp, and most of them I did do, I did alone. And since I didn't care about getting or crafting good sets, that took a lot of time and soul gems to do. The game is much better now lol.
Don’t forget that while doing all of this you need to be screaming at everyone else over the chat. Telling the tank how bad they are, that we should kick the healer from the group and that you’re not even trying! Oh hang on, that’s WoW.. Joke aside, this is really good. Helps to simplify the role when there’s a hella lotta chaos going on around you. It can be quite overwhelming for newbs.
I just wanted to say, one of the biggest tips you ever gave me was changing the Red ground effect to Pink. I have turned some very, very Veteran players onto doing this. They have all thanked me for telling about it.
I’ve played this game since the start- 2014. I’m still a casual player & enjoy helping new players whenever I can. THIS VIDEO IS, By FAR, ONE OF THE BEST OF ITS KIND THAT IVE EVER SEEN IN 7 YEARS! TY!
The worst thing to me is that the guild trader menus arent automatically populated with a list of items as a front page. You have to “search” first. This wasnt obvious to me when I first started and just thought I had to join a guild first to buy from that guild. I spent like a month playing and learning about the game thinking I wouldnt be able to buy anything and had to grind everything.
I had no idea, joined a guild because I too thought that was the only way I could buy and sell with a guild trader. That being said I have approached some guild traders and I can’t buy anything as they tell me I’m not a member of that guild. So I’m confused.
Ahh, i remember the days of my new guild friends saying, no don't stand behind the tank! Fond memories... I learnt! Another good tip is FOLOW the tank, don't run ahead, so many trial runs spoilt by that.
Literally had a no death run going on vet black drake villa and a kid ran passed me on the part where the little patch of mud crabs is and got koed by them🤣🤣. I was like there's no way we just lost our no death to a mud crab
Yes as a tank i can confirm this, also it gives me the time to group buff, debuff mob, or taunt the big fellows from a mob, instead of losing 50% of my stamina to keep up with a rushing healer or dps
Great video but I think you forgot one really important tip. It is the DPS's job to resurrect players. Assuming your tank and healer are doing their jobs, the boss will never kill them. This means if one of your fellow DPS dies, you need to pick them back up. If the healer does it, there's a chance the tank dies and you all start again. The tank might be able tog et you up without letting the boss kill someone else but they can't block and res so again, you might wipe. The DPS dictate how long a fight takes, don't worry about not doing damage if you're resing someone. Once everyone is back in, you guys can go back to business as usual
Thank yoooooouuuuuuu! I had no idea. When I finally get up the courage to join a group for a dungeon I hopefully won’t look like a complete hatchling, just out of the shell. I really appreciate your content and your build guides.
Eso should link some of these ''basic'' tutorials on the side login screen.. This would help eso so much! (Also because there are allot of toxic players in randoms which will make people quit if they do something wrong they dont realise)
Literally happened last night to me. Tank drug us all the way to Selene, initiated HM, then quit mid boss fight because the CP 180 something wouldn’t listen and DPS the boss. I was one sad healer...
@@papahappy1856 I get the frustration, but to queue for a random dungeon and expect not to have a kid or someone who hardly plays is a little ridiculous, definitely not worth rage quitting over lol....it's like "dude, go at it with all your friends then....oh , right....now we understand"

Fun video all true. Regardless of the MMO you play if you would just (1) admit your new and ask questions (2) do not stand in the bad. (3) Be able to be close to healer, and (4) take 5 to 10 minutes to look at a dungeon video before you run it so you know what to expect. I know guides like this are a huge help. @Lucky Ghost thanks for taking the time to make this a 20+ minute video so you can go over all helpful tips and EXPLAIN why for those new. Kudos Sir
@@newworldforward1842 So how is it if dps ain't positioned right it's the healers fault this is the problem. Healer leaves tank. Tank has to heal which can sometimes interupt taunt. (which is true !!! ) Defeats the whole point of this video. It's a real braindead group that kicks a healer because the dps wants to run all over the place. I've seen it many times the healer dies chasing a dps.
More excellent work Lucky! I've lost count of the amount of times I've tanked, running up to the boss, taunting them and turning them away from the group - only for the DPS to inexplicably follow me around to the front of the boss; insisting on attacking it face-on, making the healer have to work so much harder to keep everyone alive! This video is gold! I will be recommending this to new players I come across for sure!
Amazing video Lucky! ZOS needs to add this video to a new player tutorial. When a new player logs in for the first time, they have to watch this video. I'm saving this to my ESO playlist and pinning it to the top. 2 years playing this game and I just learned A LOT of good information. Thank you Lucky! also, we need a the sauce for that thumbnail image you used. :P
OMG! I remember asking if you would be willing to do a vid like this on twitch several weeks ago! I cant believe you made it!!! So detailed! This is so much more than I had hoped for! Thank you so much!!!
Commenting because comments are good for the RUclips algorithm Sidebar: thank you for putting this video out. As a tank, I cannot tell you how frustrating it is when a dps is stood right next to me and gets one shot and starts having a go at me
@@newworldforward1842 haha yeah. I’ve definitely been in some bad pugs, I’m in running vet hard mode ransoms already. I’m really enjoying it. To be fair I was a WoW mythic progression tank/healer so that helps. I find there is so much more expectations with DPS it’s intimidating. With tanking it’s so simple. Keep taunt, face away from group, pop mitigation, and do mechanics. Heals is even easier. Just keep everyone alive and buff and DPS when you can. DPS is watching mechanics, positioning, managing dots, their rotation and if you’re the lowest DPS people are way more toxic to you. I dunno it just feels more intimidating
Speaking from experience as a DPS main. I think every person who only plays DPS characters, should spend time playing both Tank and Healer roles. It will help you better understand your role as a DPS more clearly.
Play DPS = Get fake tanks/fake healers Play Tank = Get bad dps/fake healer Play Healer = Get low standing in stupid dps/Fake tanks Conclusion = I want to clone myself so i can play the real game
When I heal I always get that damn DPS that gets behind me. It drives me insane. When I DPS my tank always makes the boss move around in circles so I never have backstab damage going. I can never win in pugs lol
Nicely done. I appreciate the simplicity of the video and the way that you avoided the overuse of ESO lingo; it made the tips really easy to follow. Looking forward to getting home so I can try the Light Attack Weaving and see how it affects my overall DPS.
I'm glad you made this video. I'm new to the game and kept hearing about light attack weaving but didn't realize exactly what it was. Thank you a million
Dude you have some of the best videos out there, very well articulated an enjoyable to listen to and follow. You have a talent for visual teaching-keep up the great work! Your time & effort are greatly appreciated.
as a healer main, thank you for this video, also, to the dps, I'd rather have you stand in one or two layers of red while in formation, than have you running around/stand behind me. Just keep in formation, I (and most healers) can outheal pretty much all redzones
My one friend plays healer and does fairly well at it but the only problem is if standing in those zones can one shot you no matter how much healing you can do it won’t save the person
Such a great video! I remember when I would do vet dungeons and the DPS would complain that I wasn’t healing them fast enough through a one shot ability from a boss and then leave.
I had never even realized the difference between the guild trader and merchant traders. I always learn something new from you Lucky! Great info as always. I had a blast editing this one as well. ^_^
I can tell you as an owner of real working sheepdogs (border collies). The retired ones herd my cats quite effectively all day. It is possible... #dontletpplshitonurdreams
The biggest problem is that, most of the players are swearing, rage quitting or kick you for the smallest mistake you make as a dps. The dungeon takes 1min longer because you are not the very best dps in the universe? Kick. You die to a one shot mechanic cuz you misstep? Kick. Not sprinting through the dungeon like Flash? Kick. A 3 mill hp boss dont die from your 10sec rotation? Kick. ALWAYS the dps is "the bad player" and always we get the shitstorm. Every tank and every healer(even if they are very bad and plays fake rolls for quicker que) can and will find an excuse and blame the dps. Always. Its very hard and frustrating to find a non-toxic, patient group. Hands down to every non-toxic players, but sadly "we" are the minority. Please just accept the fact that MOST of the players are only average or above average players, not everyone is in the top ten.
I feel that 100%. Also with myself being legally blind a lot of what was talked about can get rough but I always tell the group I try my best and during my live streams each day I make sure that everyone knows what they’re getting involved with lol
Honestly I can tell in the first 5 min whether a dungeon will be completed or not. The only time I kick a player is when they are going to drag the group down. If the group sucks I'll just leave. If your getting kicked often there's something wrong and you should re evaluate your situation.
I swear the impatience and inflexibility of some "meta players" are the worst. Kinda a good reason to fly a casual banner high and proud. Look, find yourself some folk that all want to improve but don't think they need to be meta 100 percent of the time in order to "have fun." In PvE, this game has plenty of challenges and bosses that don't even require a meta setup. And yeah sure once you work out one you like, you get this rush of power but then the challenge is no longer there and it can get so boring. Honestly, I rather do fun vanity builds now that are not overpowered and follow a theme of fire, ice, blood, and lighting ect. I just stick to about three toons for vet runs and the rest are all for fun. But it can sometimes suck when so many out there in MMOs don't want to take a moment to teach but instead they just hurl an insult and give someone the boot. Try not to take it too personally, not everyone can be a teacher. Plus hear most of the toxicity boils down to their lack of time. They got kids or long hours at a job and get frustrated by any delay to the only one or two hours they get free each day to play.
@@CeaseEcho this is exactly right and during my live streams each day we make sure that no matter what your skill level is we play with you and help you if you ever have questions to the best of our ability
Very good for newbies! Just to add more meat... Around 13:08, one can also "anim cancel" some active skills, i.e. arrow barrage, by swapping bar, light/heavy attacking, blocking, bashing, dodge roll etc., on top of light or heavy attack weaving. In short, if a skill says "instant cast time", then it _is_ instant and you can cancel its animation into some combo rotation. Hence it is possible to chain multiple actions in quick successions.
Again an awesome job by @Luckyghost..I’m a bit more experienced player now but this is so well explained and new players are lucky to have you.. take care and be always well..
God thank you for this. I have completely avoided Group options because I had no idea how to do this. I still don't fully understand set stacking and how to figure out which set is the best to equip. Still learning! Thank you! 👍
I main a healer, I spam prayer as a heal because it is an instant 8k burst heal as well as it keeps the dmg buff up. It is 8 meters wide so I typically ask the dps to not stand more than 3 meters to the bosses side. It is hard to guage this distance during a fight so I tend to see majority of the group stand parallel to one another basically touching shoulders. I rarely pug but when I do I ask the dps to join my dioscord so I can verbally explain. I've been in instances before where some "newbies" joined a trials prog guil;d I am in and 6 months later becoming a raid leader. It's great to see videos like this explaining so others that watch it can understand and come in prepared.
Ngl, as a healer without any friends, constantly playing with randoms, combat prayer feels so useless. I'm above 1300cp now and i can't remember a single time, that i had a dd that was standing behind the boss. Mostly standing right besides the tank blaming me for dying. Really takes out all of the fun. 👍 ty for that video tho, maybe ill see a few people doing that now.
As a veteran of 5 years, I really appreciate this video. It's nearly impossible as a healer, chasing around a dps, to keep everyone alive. Sorry, not sorry, I'm gonna keep the tank alive 🤣
@@kiwipalace however it anoying when the tank abandons the group completly zerg rushing ahead to the end killing and not stoping til their at the last boss never optionals basicly leaving the 2 dps behind to die and leaving the me with weather to follow or not

Since I've played melee classes before in other games, I'm already used to standing behind enemies. But learning about "ranged" doing it too is new to me. Also, the only "group" content I've done so far is fighting the Dragons in Elsweyr. I was never sure where to stand in those fights and I've been clubbed to death by many dragon tails in my past, so I avoided standing behind it. But this one time I was rolling behind a dragon and received some massive heals, and thanks to this video now I know why lol! Such an overlooked skill but so necessary.
Lucky, you're awesome. I literally just made a dark elf nightblade and watched all of your beginner guides and I'm absolutely loving this game. I'm not new to mmos but eso feels, different... In a great way! Your guides help so much, thank you for this one too! I'm level 14 so I'll be dungeoning soon :D
Tip if you want to learn proper technique in dungeons. Run with people about the same level as yourself, or higher level who want to slow down and let you learn. All too often you get high level players just rushing through the dungeon killing everything in front of you and all you get to do is look at dead bodies. That won't teach you anything. Better to slug it out with fellow lowbies or someone more experienced who's willing to teach.
Getting into ESO from Skyrim and this is very helpful. It is a bit daunting when they hit you with all of the new stuff when you first zone in, but I am so EXCITED for this! Ready to take it slow and just have fun😁
Something I think goes along with this topic is lack of tanks and healers as most go dps as they are discouraged by the role however in my opinion I believe new players should start as tanks and healers because dps really is the hardest role in eso and not just by skill but build as well through levels and time farming gear new players don’t have access to. It takes basically nothing to tank or heal at least normals while you learn the game.
@@ognevkafenella9741 You are so right. I literally tested this out last night. Doing the PVE parts of Blackwood and as my usual DK Nord Tank self, the only thing I could one shot that hits back were skeevers. When I am doing PVE story stuff I typically go DPS so I do not have to slowly hack my way through every single trash mob.
Great information - one main problem for this newb is keeping up with the others as well as maintaining the proper positioning, especially with adds everywhere...I'll definitely keep working at these techniques though.
I hate it when new players are adamant that their way is right. I have zero problem with you being bad because you are inexperienced, that's how it works. And I can understand that you queued for this veteran dungeon because it has the monster set from the build guide. And my advice is not going to be "run the meta set-up". But I had a tank who spammed chains on the boss because "it's mana free dps" and his only survival mechanism was running massive circles around the room instead of dodging or blocking because "it's meant to be a one shot, that's what makes it hard" who clearly by that is a beginner player, and refused to take any advice. After multiple wipes I had to leave because vet dlc dungeons are almost impossible with a tank that get's one shot an ignores mechs, and it just annoys me when people refuse to learn. I'm by no means all knowing- I am always learning new stuff about this game at 1k CP. So, seriously, you can't be 200cp and think you know it all.
You just gave me more info in this video than anyone ever said. I have been saying NEWB, NEW TO MMO, NEW!! To everyone. And when your in there trying to hear the caller and or you hear your name with instructions and people are talking...not to mention everyone is everywhere firing away...don't know how and where to stand...hahaha there is so much going on at once. THIS should be an ingame tutorial!! Thank you ever so much!! I have wrotten down some cheat sheets and will pratice this!! Man...I would hug your ass if I could. 💜💜💜💜💜
DPS standing in a line is not a great idea. Some bosses have a mechanic where they target one random member to your team. If you're in a line you can't tell who the boss is targeting or worse the whole team gets hit by the mechanic. Premise is the same though pick a spot/side and stay there.
Been healing a lot of random dungeons lately, and I notice that there's always this one bow user who manages to pull aggro (usually because the tank isn't a tank and doesn't have a taunt), and instead of standing still, so I can heal the bow user, they start running circles around the rest of us, dragging everything out of all the AOE abilities in the process. Even when I start spamming group chat with 'Stand still, I can easily keep you alive through this', they just keep running, like the boss is going to one-shot them or something. Obviously, nothing matters in random normal dungeons, but the fights just drag on forever when everyone is constantly running around.
True that can drag the battle on and on but the one problem with that is at least in my experience for some reason I end up pulling Agro and I’m not sure if it’s because the tank is not doing that or we just don’t have a tank but then I have to try dodging the boss along with all the trash mobs while still doing damage
How does the tank equip and/or use taunt? I main a healer and am learning relatively quick but my friend is a tank and I’m trying to run them through how to better help in dungeons.
@@brandonhandleigh8646 in the weapon skill line under the one hand and shield section there is a skill called puncture and that will help keep taunt. Hey Lucky I'm a new ESO player and your guides and videos are very helpful! The quality of the videos is good and you've got a nice voice to listen to. This game is very overwhelming to me even after 8 years of Wow, Gw2 and other mmos. Keep at it, I'm sure you will get many new subscribers in the future! 🐻 thumbs up
I have been doing a lot of dungeons as a healer since I started eso. And i have been recommending this video to the dps at the end of the dungeon 1 time out of 3 I think. Most people have no idea... I would have had no idea if not for being subscribe to Lucky ghost. And as a healer, it is such a pain to have to run around, when most heals are circles or cones in front of you. But the worst part is how many buff they miss, and how the dps crumbles when the dps are spread out. If you are a dps, and you don't care if you're positioning makes it hard for you healer, at least consider you will easily do 20-30% more dps with this proper positioning. Thx Lucky Ghost !
in a dungeon i did today the dps kept circling the boss, and every time they stepped in front of the boss they died. as the tank i was about to rage-quit.
As a new player I honestly had no clue about positioning. As a new player rather than rage quit I would not mind if you called a reset and took a second to try and explain the positioning aspect. Understandable If he was a person that just didn't listen
I’ve been playing for a few months now and have been trying to find ways to increase my damage output and am just finding out about light attack weaving and animation canceling... I can’t wait to see how much of a difference this is going to make!!
If you are a dps please stay out of Area of effect like fire in vet it be less stressful for the healer i can not count on how many players died in area of effect because they stay in it and I get blamed for it for not healing enough when they're the ones staying in it
It's also really stressful for Stamina dps to fight boss when the boss is surrounded by aoe around them and tank doesn't kite the boss away from the aoe. Stamina dps usually fight melee range :(
@@trishhh99 I never played dps or tank in vet so I didn't know it could be that bad for everyone i think that i played with randoms that's probably new to vet or not or they playing the kicking game for their death and this is a long time ago so I don't know if there still doing that or not cause I don't play vet anymore and maybe I will get back in to playing vet soon as a dps or tank :)
@@trishhh99 that’s so true and to be honest at least my own experience for some reason the boss ends up going after me then I have to keep dodging around while still doing DPS in many cases
@@VisualRift Yes good tanks can manage to keep the boss to aggro them only, SOME tanks however lose aggro and the boss goes around smacking dps and healer in the face. That's when it becomes very very painful. Especially in vDoM where the boss just starts spraying at everyone because tank loses aggro
As a healer, I learned a new position and how to better position myself. Normally I run around trying to find "most" of my group and drop a group heal(s). This video helped me out a lot.
if ur under level 50 and log in then this vid should start automatically before u even land in the char selection screen ahahah^^ nice vid wish u the best^^
All of these are super important and this coming someone who’s been a Templar healer since day 1 of playing. We can’t do our job properly if we take all the hits especially if it’s against a encounter like world bosses that expenses all our magika to the point we can’t actually heal
I wish everyone would watch this video. When I am tanking I often find the dps standing next to me attacking from the front instead of the side or rear. When I am healing the dps are running all over the place making it hard to heal the whole group. Sometimes even the tank is running away from the boss instead of tanking. I guess that is a fake tank.
@@Web497 35k dps on first character without cp and decent set bonuses looks like a big lie to me except if you're a stamplar, this would also mean that you mastered weaving and can sustain efficiently which I highly doubt
@@Web497 35k under 50 is a big lie, 30 35k is normal for a 300 to 500 cp. With all traits, all gold equipment, etc. It if u are real good weaving and have real good rotation.
The positioning advice was very helpful, I started playing this game when the Morrowind chapter released, but have always been more of a solo quester. Been on set collection hunts recently so I've grouped up and I'm definitely guilty of circling around the boss while the other three are right on it. But I also flank from behind with double daggers but that's what I should be doing the entire time. Thanks!
Update: did a few group dungeons yesterday with my DPS and my Tank toons, keeping everything you said in this video in mind to the word. IMMENSELY improved my overall performance and I died much much less on the DLC dungeons. I felt more useful to my team rather than just tagging along. And I was performing my role the correct way and it just makes the roles make sense when you do them right. The weaving was a great tip as well. I found myself able to use my Ult much more often than usual. Thank you man, you make great videos and I look forward to future ones as more ESO content comes out 🤘
Having to play so precisely in a specific formation, is annoying as Hell! If an archer can't attack from a distance, that's a serious flaw in game design and is harmful to "suspension of disbelief" - the game should be improved so that players can play in a way that FEELS RIGHT, not having to follow some exact patterns etc.
Now I only need a video on how to trick your friends into watching this guide without them being upset as suggesting DPS players a DPS guide is perceived as insulting to most. But, you offer some great advice for newer players and your video is very well structured.
Reddit and other forums are actively discouraging new players from playing healers saying they are useless. Some think that 3 dps and a tank is best. Nothing beats a geared out healer that actually heals, debuffs, buffs and dps as they should.
@@tarkatta8470 I play a true healer build and load out. I hate being in dps in a dungeon group where the healer is only healing as a second thought when they need it.
Here's a general idea of ESO Dungeon as a returning player: 1) Queue a random normal dungeon or veteran. 2) OP veterans ramming through everything, leaving players that want's to loot stuff and take up quest behind 3) Finish the dungeon without the slightest clue of the story of the dungeon or the surroundings because you will always a mile behind and you want to catch up. This is the story of me as a returning player, i enter the random dungeon 5 times, and all 5 was run by super op veteran player. and yes it might be nice that i completed the dungeon without doing anything and getting good loots. but what's the point?
It's clear that ZoS hates a traditional ranged bow build in ESO. The very first bow weapon passive Long Shots is in direct conflict with proper group positioning, and is likely the main reason why many new players are out of sync with the healer and tank. The Point-Blank Snipe bow from Vateshran Hollows punishes any archer with decreased damage from longer range. Then of course ZoS nerfed Snipe into the ground in the latest update, the longest range bow spammable in the game.
I like Lucky but I don't agree with him on this one. 12% damage bonus from Long Shots > 5% damage bonus from Combat Prayer. Also - Resolving/Echoing Vigor keeps you healed on top of other things. Yes, you should probably run adds to the tank even if you're at range, but - if you're capable of being self-sufficient and have appropriate situational awareness - you should work your Long Shots as long as the situation permits.
Snipe wasn't nerfed to the ground at all. The damage was reduced but so was the cast time, making it easier to fit into rotations. Sure, bow/bow builds aren't meta, but that's not saying much. Neither are 2h. Dual wield is firmly meta for stam dps, so does that mean zos hates 2h as well? No, they have their niche. Bow/bow is great for non optimised groups (which will be a majority of the groups you play with) as their positioning is a lot more versatile than the traditional melee stamina class, leading to greater survivability. Bow dps certainly has a place and is viable, so just because it's not the best, doesn't mean zos hates it. As for positioning between the healer, for most situations it's simple for the dps and healer to take a slightly more ranged approach. Just to reiterate, no it is not meta, but most pugs aren't
@@DMDoherty1 yup, and many other sources for minor berserk. camo hunter, kinras, bird of prey for example. The range of bow builds increases survivability since their positioning is more versatile. In coordinated trials they would usually not be good as you have to stack up, but otherwise they have their niche.
@@bfc9467 Yep. Meta is a pretty useless concept in this game. There are so many situational variables and mechanics and the player has so much greater control over things via situational awareness that to insist that following the Meta is "the way" is just fallacious. Especially with SO MANY permutations of gear and skills. In CR my Bow/Bow Stamden can kite the darkness, send shards down, and deal with the orbs all while maintaining among the top group DPS. And that's just one example where being Bow/Bow let's me be Captain Clutch in trial. And you're 100% on Snipe. I prefer the smoother cast and more regular damage to the burst. In short, don't obsess over what folks say is meta or mandatory or viable. Take good advice, of which Lucky has a lot of here - and play and test the rest on your own. Also, how hard someone can hump a stationary trial dummy from behind given the benefit of the most optimal buffs is vastly over valued in this community and nearly never reflects someone's actual DPS in content and is CERTAINLY not a measure of their value as a team member in PVE.
I thought this tooo! You literally just have to hit whatever button is “search” at the bottom of your screen. For me its “r” but they dont make that obvious when you first try to use a guild trader. Their UI and UX teams need to make that better for people
You can search and buy from every guild trader! You can only use your own guilds to list things for sale. Check your guild info tab under history and purchases, to see what people WANT to buy, and how much. Dont bother trying to sell junk as you pay to list things do will only lose gold.
One thing you forgot to point out was agro management. A lot of new players do not understand that there is no actual aoe taunt for tanks in ESO (w/o very specific builds) and initial agro does play a part in tanks being able to do their job with less headaches. There is not much that is more irritating (also entertaining in some instances) than an under 300cp DPS that is in so much of a hurry that they consistently run ahead of the tank and pull anything and everything in a random dungeon. They then proceed to run around like a chicken with its head cut off with the obvious expectation that the tank will come save them. My philosophy is, if you pull it then you better be able to tank it.

Ahh, i remember the days of my new guild friends saying, no don't stand behind the tank! Fond memories... I learnt! Another good tip is FOLOW the tank, don't run ahead, so many trial runs spoilt by that.

Yes as a tank i can confirm this, also it gives me the time to group buff, debuff mob, or taunt the big fellows from a mob, instead of losing 50% of my stamina to keep up with a rushing healer or dps
But I wanna go zoom :(
Great video but I think you forgot one really important tip.
My man is spitting facts👍
Great advice
Yessss!!
Thx that makes so much sense! Tank and healer can survive forever so dps can resurrect everyone and the fight continues!
S&B ultimate says otherwise on the block and res 😜

I've lost count of the amount of times I've tanked, running up to the boss, taunting them and turning them away from the group - only for the DPS to inexplicably follow me around to the front of the boss; insisting on attacking it face-on, making the healer have to work so much harder to keep everyone alive!

Its kind of fun sometimes using race for time to run around with radiating to your fellow alliance members in the middle of a massive battle
I'm a newbie at this game and it's unreal how much I need to learn
Look, find yourself some folk that all want to improve but don't think they need to be meta 100 percent of the time in order to "have fun."
In PvE, this game has plenty of challenges and bosses that don't even require a meta setup.
Much appreciated!

If they could only make players watch this before being allowed to que for first dungeon.

Tip if you want to learn proper technique in dungeons. Run with people about the same level as yourself, or higher level who want to slow down and let you learn. All too often you get high level players just rushing through the dungeon killing everything in front of you and all you get to do is look at dead bodies. That won't teach you anything. Omg I didn’t even know the positioning haha thank you for the video 🙏
The first part on positioning should be a mandatory un-skippable cutscene before joining the group finder queue.
DPS standing in a line is not a great idea. Some bosses have a mechanic where they target one random member to your team. If you're in a line you can't tell who the boss is targeting or worse the whole team gets hit by the mechanic. Premise is the same though pick a spot/side and stay there.
@@BR-bd1nv thank you, a lot of people seem to forget this formation works in like 30% of dungeons
Best ESO vid ever made. Especially positioning. Thank you.
There are also other skills in that line that your friend should check out. Make sure they are using heavy armor and one weapon and a shield or if they are using an ice staff to do heavy attacks with the staff. If you ever have anymore questions please don’t hesitate to ask I will definitely try my best to help you and your friend out. I live stream every day and play ESO so feel free to even stop by and ask questions or even do some dungeon runs

Hey Lucky
I'm a new ESO player and your guides and videos are very helpful! The quality of the videos is good and you've got a nice voice to listen to. This game is very overwhelming to me even after 8 years of Wow, Gw2 and other mmos. Keep at it, I'm sure you will get many new subscribers in the future! 🐻 thumbs up
Thanks!
New to game and only have done 1 dungeon so far , everything died so fast I couldn’t even hit most things lol .
That will happen sometimes in the easier dungeons, enjoy the quick xp :)
You don't learn much from that. It will change though in veteran. Some dps can solo the dungeons and do rather than teach. 😳
Thank you!
in a dungeon i did today the dps kept circling the boss, and every time they stepped in front of the boss they died. as the tank i was about to rage-quit.
As a new player I honestly had no clue about positioning. As a new player rather than rage quit I would not mind if you called a reset and took a second to try and explain the positioning aspect. Understandable If he was a person that just didn't listen
@@LarryLovestein23 my friend who was the other dps asked him to stop and told him to stand behind the boss. idk if they didn’t read chat or something.
I’m over here getting 4dps in a public group:|
lul
I wish everyone would watch this video. When I am tanking I often find the dps standing next to me attacking from the front instead of the side or rear. When I am healing the dps are running all over the place making it hard to heal the whole group. Sometimes even the tank is running away from the boss instead of tanking. I guess that is a fake tank.
can confirm i subed and got a 30k dps boost

Bruh I Got 35k Dps, and not even lvl 50 yet
I'm 99% positive I did a dungeon with you yesterday and made these mistakes lol
Since you're probably the reason he made the video, thank you?
This is sooo helpful. This is one of those videos that the game should just make you watch if you choose DPS class...lol.
I just had this happen. Trying to heal and the dps running away.
I’m not for group content for a lot of reasons, but I like doing the daily queue so thanks for the advice.
It’s not just new players that make this mistake
Just started doing dungeons and I've been doing them as if I were a caster in WoW. This video came in clutch, today's dungeon went MUCH better.
heck ya!
Lmao I'm a dps been playing for just over a month, barely actually get healers I just learned how to keep myself alive xD
Here's a general idea of ESO Dungeon as a returning player:
1) Queue a random normal dungeon or veteran.
2) OP veterans ramming through everything, leaving players that want's to loot stuff and take up quest behind
3) Finish the dungeon without the slightest clue of the story of the dungeon or the surroundings because you will always a mile behind and you want to catch up.
Great video, thanks!!
Also love the slight tone of frustration as you explain mechanics 😂😂😂
I thought you had to be in their guild to use their guild trader.... I guess not. Thanks lucky
No! :)
I'm glad I saw this. I would have made all those positioning mistakes and looked like an idiot.
i know i made those mistakes so don't feel bad!
If you're good enough, you don't need a healer XD
I never fully depend on a healer in no game i do just fine too lol
This is the best dps intro video I have watched. Thank you.
I only hate DPS that rush dungeons, it’s so satisfying seeing them die
Yeppp
