  • World's Most Dangerous Roads: Deadliest Journeys in Ivory Coast (2020)
    Deadliest Roads - All Episodes: • Deadliest Roads | All ...
    Titles to glory, with medals made of chocolate… “The infrastructure is in a desperate state,” complains one cocoa bean trucker who zigzags between the potholes. “When the prime minister came to the region they filled in the holes, but they never repaired the road!”
    Cocoa producers are in despair. “Getting the product out of the forest is a major problem. You leave here in the morning, but you don’t know if you’ll get there by night.” Yakou is one of the last drivers willing to supply the most remote villages. There’s only 45 kilometres to travel and it takes him between 8 and 10 hours to get there! The journey is so demanding that his son, who helps him during the vacations, doesn’t want to inherit the family’s one item of wealth: the truck.
    But nothing in the world would make him abandon his father. “My father’s brave, he’s a fighter!” To confront the highways, which are that in name only, Ivory Coast mechanical geniuses construct a replica of a 1970s minibus, part by part. The Badjan! Zoum owns one, but like the majority of drivers, he does not have the means to maintain it… “You see us cutting and welding the parts because we don’t have the means to buy new ones.”
    Today, cocoa no longer brings in sufficient revenues so some people are tearing up the trees to search for gold! The challenge to the people of the Ivory Coast is huge, but their determination is even greater…

    Anyone who’s seen the mad bikers of Burundi will appreciate the crazy of these street skaters (but without any skateboards or anything except the soles of their sneakers). The truck is moving. Fast. Kinda insane. These guys. Adrenaline rushes through crazy stunts is obviously as addictive as to substances. I would argue also healthier but watching these kids and the danger they put themselves through? Wow. And respect to them. Anyway, you’ll also what’s made the Ivory Coast the richest country in West Africa: cocoa. And the effect it has on the region. Enjoy! And don’t try the hanging-off- truck shoe sliding thing at home!

    I have been watching the Free Documentary of the Deadliest Roads, and this one touched me like no other one. An elderly person helping an entire village and the physically challenged person repairing the road so that no one else has to go through what has suffered, what a man! A dad who wants his son to follow his footsteps to continue helping people and on the other hand wants his son to follow his dreams. A son helping his dad who can't bear watching him work so hard at such age but dreams to making something big. This episode is one of the best I have watched. Thank you!

      They is no such thing as 3rd world. Those in the West suffer heavy from depression and anxiety & take drugs like hell just to function. They all live on borrowed money like borrowed time. Nobody is better than any on earth. Don't you suffer from depression yourself?. How much do you owe the rich banks?. You might not own anything right now. Do you know that land is free in Africa meaning no huge borrowings. Yes free land given to people by Chiefs. West sells everything which gives a sense of wealth yet in reality many live on borrowed time money & own nothing which creates mental disabilities. A disabled person isn't worth anything. So you better stop putting your head first but third then you might abolish the 3rd business in your medulla.

      Yes they are. And one could say happier. That doesn't mean people should be destitute or that it's okay that some people in the world are destitute. No. Absolutely not. But honestly, if I had to choose: spend time with a stupid rich family or a poor family, I'd choose the poor family. They are closer to life and what it means to be a human.

He is earning a living in as much a respectful way as possible. He is not sitting idle nor crying over his lost leg nor asking for help in any way. Its rather the people who have most of the money who are committing theft.

    • @swampypolitics9574
      @swampypolitics9574 Год назад +6

      @@JP-oe4ry not really. Of you've seen alot of these episodes fr around the world everywhere accept the USA. Canada European nations and a few others the rest of the world isn't nearly as developed with infrastructure. Sure Africa has some of the worst if not the worst... but world wide if you were to actually calculate it. Most of the world's population is this or similar or slightly better.. South America Asia. Hell most of China is poverty with shacks even though it's the 2nd or 3rd largest economy... while they are doing belt and road in Africa.
      Building infrastructure and in the process making those countries debted to China for years.
      But infrastructure of first world developed nations really only exists in major cities and tourist spots in most of the world.. the poorest people in the USA and western nations similar are far richer and have far more easier access and lives than the avg person in the rest of the world. If you go by percentages.
      I've been watching these for years and they've been to every continent and country in the world. Most of the world's populated areas are not developed. No where in developed nations does it take days to make a 100mile trip where the chance of death and injury and destroyed vehicles is higher than not. Remember these are MOST dangerous...and the surrounding areas are just slightly less bad but all would be considered not developed at all by 1st world standards. We get traffic jams while truckers in these nations are stuck for days or weeks in nowhere because their main road resembles an off road trail at a 4x4 park where people have 40" boggers and still get stuck.
      We have jams and road crews arrive fairly fast.. they don't have any aside from locals because the gov doesn't fund it outside major cities. Andajor shopping routes can be blocked for days or weeks and regularly. Because of corruption mostly. That's why the gap can't grow they can't transport good efficiently like we can. Without good road infrastructure your economy cannot grow.

    I really like these documentaries as they reveal more than just the landscape, but the heart of the people, the culture... It also shows how creative and resourceful people will be in order to survive. some of these vehicles should be scrapped, and yet they are forced to continue by the sheer will power of the people...
    No matter what we look like, we all want the same thing; a better life for our kids and security for our loved ones.. Much respect for these folks
