The injection molded polyurethane construction allows for complicated shapes that enable the formed handhold.
This gives a massive grip to directly translate wristaction into carving and turning.
It also makes it safe as you are not strapped in like on most handplanes.
The handboard releases instantly if you get caught in the washing machine and you need to release it quickly.

Yes they do last 30-35 years. I am 44 and have the exact colour and design. I purchased mine in Australia in Sydney with some Churchhill Flippers/Finns. I have used the board religiously with great success. Only seeing designs now with similarity.

Mine is 36 years old and as good as the day I bought it. I have used it every year since I bought it often to the amazement of swimmers nearby about how easy it is to catch a wave and what you can do once you're on a wave....:)
Good to hear and you are not alone : ) the new one has a few upgrades: more volume, sharper rails and a touch more rocker up forward to keep it from nosediving in bigger and choppy stuff.
I use my own but two. More rounded much thinner. You learn to swim and use them great for added speed.
My trophies attest to how good my handboards are.😊
Dunno what is going on the brand these days but we paid & ordered one in December '23 and still haven't received it April '24 . . .
