Known Mark since the early 70s. I have seen him bodysurf Panics, Pipeline, Sandy Beach. The most amazing wave I ever saw Mark ride was a big, ugly, stormy Winter shorebreak wave at Makapu'u. And with the rare condition of all the sand by the water's edge gone. Just lave rock on the inside. I couldn't really catch a wave that day. I was about to go in. And I saw Mark FLYING high, almost on the lip, of this long, big close out wave. It was a shorebreak wave, right on the rocks and the face extended almost the whole length of Makapu'u. I watched in awe as Mark caught this wave and somehow flew along almost half the length of this big face and pulled out the back just in time to avoid the rocks. Mark is a phenomenal bodysurfer. Has ridden insane Pipe. But that wave at Makapu'u that day: Never saw riding like that before or after.
@@reddiver7293 mahalos for sharing that story, and the experience that you're never going forget! Got some awesome stuff that is legendary and I love those moments! Aloha from westside Oahu, got some mean memories, stories from westside too!
@@MK-su6eg Used to go Yokes on big South swells. But the west side just got too edgy for me. No disresect for the fine folks from the Leeward side. Mahalo.
@@reddiver7293 1st dips ,yokes, makuacave beach 1end , pray for SETS, other end I don't knows, and tumble land were some of the spots I was into and got some good body surfin and some licking too! Peace and keep surfing no matter what!
Welcome to the only place that is law not to use a board. Im almost 40 and me and my mom used to surf this spot. If there was to much body surfers we'd surf kewalos. After awhile the older kanaks would let me and my mom surf there when it was supered. Points is a beautiful surf place
I have been out in the most insane surf. Stormy, huge rips, massive hollow waves in southern california. Nothing stopped me: Blacks, Wedge, Newport Point, Aliso shore pound, Huntington, Zuma... I am the Frontslider as the Wedge Locals named me. Nothing scared me. I have stories to tell.
I was in a heat with Mark at the world championship in Oceanside. Such a great waterman. Worked on my underwater take offs.
Legend! Like a dolphin in the water so graceful. 🤙🏾🤙🏾
