  • In this video I show you how I made and set up my new naturalistic themed outdoor reptile pit enclosures! This enclosure is to house some of my Blue Tongue Skink species. I also show you how to make fake rock box hides to add more natural looks whilst maintaining function and the animals needs for more enjoyment for the animal and keeper!

    Gotta be one of the best pits ive seen currently making a couple for the blueys im about to get making a small portable one then going to make a much larger one was just thinking of doing a chickenwire with flyscreen over the top but that might not let enough sun in thoughts on that just had a smaller enclosure and some birds got into it so just trying to take much more precautions thanks mate

    Hey man I currently live in Melbourne and my blue tongue has always lived in an indoor enclosure with lamp what do you reckon will it be safe for me to move it to an outdoor enclosure without any lamps? Will it survive the frosty Melbourne Mornings?

    • @coopsreptiles2588
      @coopsreptiles2588  2 месяца назад

      If they occur naturally in your area then it should be able to survive no problem. As long as you set it up right with an insulated area full of dry media it can burrow inside. Just depends on what risk you are willing to take with your animal

    I love these types of videos, really helpful. Do you know where you got all those logs from. Did you buy them or did you just find them? And how big are those pits?

    • @coopsreptiles2588
      @coopsreptiles2588  5 лет назад

      Thanks! Get most logs from dead trees that are cut down. Sometimes they are hollow inside so we just cut them up to appropriate size. Not sure on exact size but they are about 2.1m x 1.2m

    Hey what about the joints where one corrugated sheet meets another - don’t you have holes that smaller/younger lizards could sneak through, or vermin can get in?

    hey coop how you feed your blue tongues because mine is very picky I have an 18 month old eastern blue tongue male. he eats dry cat biscuit's but I feel like I should be giving him other foods like fruit or vegetables. thanks

    How many cans per hide it take?
    How much did it cost you per hide?
    Would you do anything different for laceys to strengthen the hide more or would it be ok?

    • @coopsreptiles2588
      @coopsreptiles2588  4 года назад

      jake cullen one can and not sure on the cost I had all the materials aside from the foam. Would certainly need to be stronger for laceys id make the concrete thicker
