Daemon has always craved for viserys' affection and acknowledgement. And after his death, he's doing more and more to cope with never receiving it

      Exactly
That’s why the dialogue and characters are so good, cause it’s not JUST that they are saying one thing and doing another, or feeling one thing and acting is opposition to that,
It’s that things characters say can be true, but not THE truth, or lies but yet not untruths

Did you see the different reactions of Alicent and Rhaenyra as mothers? When Jace started crying, Rhaenyra immediately hugged and comforted him, but when Aegon was crying over the death of his son, Alicent left the room.

Alicent didnt get love so she doesnt know how to give it. Rheanyra got love. If she didn't give it to her son, that would be more fucked up

    • @sophie.7816
      @sophie.7816 3 месяца назад

@@rexibhazoboa7097 That’s no excuse. For example, Cersei lost her mother as a child, just like Alicent, and her father was never affectionate with her either. He treated her like Otto treated Alicent, as an object for gaining advantage. However, even being as horrible as she was, Cersei would never leave her child crying after experiencing something as bad as what happened to Aegon.
Seeing your son like this, because his baby just died, I think it's obvious that turning around and leaving is not the right thing to do. Even staying there in silence to keep him company would have been enough.
And about Rhaenyra, Viserys literally ignored Rhaenyra for months after her mother died, she did not feel her father's support at the time when she needed it most and to that added that he later chose to marry her only friend, without caring how Rhaenyra could feel.
Even when Rhaenyra wanted to share her feelings with her father, Viserys interrupted her as if it were unimportant.
The fact that Viserys covered up how Rhaenyra lived her sexuality does not mean that he was a good father to her.
What I mean is that although Viserys was obviously a better father than Otto, he never comforted Rhaenyra when she needed it most and even did things that made her feel worse. However, Rhaenyra, even while feeling the horrible pain of having lost a child, comforted Jace because she knew he was suffering the loss of his brother. She did something Viserys never did for her: she put her suffering aside and comforted her child. She broke the cycle of neglect, acting differently from how her father acted when she was suffering.
Alicent had the opportunity to break the cycle of neglect and didn’t do it.
Alicent having to marry an older man, due to her father's influence was horrible, but if we talk about emotional support, neither of them had it.
And yet Rhaenyra knows that what she experienced as a daughter does not have to influence how she is as a mother.
I'm just highlighting the obvious difference that the show is portraying with the scenes of Jace and Aegon crying.
I'm not saying anything that hasn't been shown or suggested in the show. It might seem like an attack on Alicent's character, but it isn't. What I'm saying is not just my opinion; it's based on what has been represented.

He was the rider of Caraxes before Daemon and was fighting myrish pirates on Tarth when an arrow from a crossbow pierced his neck . His death eventually led to these events since afterwards, his bro Baelon the brave ( the father of Viserys and Daemon ) became heir for years until he died of appendicitis which caused the great council 101 at Harrenhall which is where Viserys was chosen to succeed.

The fight between the twins was actually as tragic as written as in the book, the sorrows after each slash to eachother was incredible. If a nitpick could be made for that scene it would probably be that writers should have added the factor of the twins trying to convince eachother to stop and join their own side as their blades connected. If you ever get a chance, you should check out a song that was made for this battle called farewell my brother. I haven't check yet but I believed it is still on youtube.

Personally, as someone who has ADHD (possibly more - still working on getting re-diagnosed lol), I interpreted the Helaena scene as a neurodivergent person getting overstimulated and feeling sensory overload. I know there have been a few times where I've felt an extreme amount of overwhelming stress and strong emotions to the point that it feels like this heavy weight of anxiety crushing you and you just need to escape. And like everything around you is only enhancing the stress. Like I remember hearing people have random conversations outside my room or just outside, lots of loud sounds, white noise, multiple red lights, feeling confined, it just feels like everything piles on during those moments and you get more agitated, even though you realize that these things have nothing to do with the situation.
In those moments, I feel like you just need to get out of there and be alone, and at least in my case, just distract yourself with something else (like drawing, writing, watching stuff, etc.). I guess that's why I understood why Helaena was being so distant with everybody even her daughter, because I know I personally need solitude when I'm feeling that overwhelmed initially and I'll come to you on my own time. The worst, WORST thing is when people are or feel like they are preventing you from escaping. Oooh boy, THAT is the worst thing, because you are already freaking out and panicking and trying to walk away or escape, but someone is not letting you, so you just get even more agitated and anxious. Or alternatively, when what is causing the overstimulation is something you can't just simply escape from or leave. I remember there've been a couple of times where I've been ambushed with a car ride conversation, and I've actually considered jumping out of the car (like planning out the exact speed on when to do, tucking and rolling on the grass, whether to step out and run or leap). I even came close to it one day, only going so far as to open the car door (albeit this was shortly after a fast and Furious movie and Ladybird so my perspective was skewed). Also, it's also worst when it feels like people you aren't as close with or don't know are overwhelming you or preventing you from being alone. I know when I went through a major lost, I found it felt overwhelming when more distant family members or people I didn't know as well wouldn't leave me alone, even though I knew they were trying to show their condolences.
This all my biased, personal opinion and interpretation based off my experiences, but yeah I though this episode did a really good job portraying that overall sensation with the funeral scene and a lot of Helaena's scenes. I was differently triggered.
Also congrats on finally getting to 100K, but also RIP to Carson's hair.

His second son Baelon ( Viserys’s and Daemon’s father ) got sick during a hunting trip and later died from a burst belly, Which is basically asoiaf lingo for appendicitis. At first I was worried that the writers completey excluded Daeron from the show.. They finally mentioned my boy! When he shows up and he will, I hope they will portray him right - like in the books. For me he is not like Aegon or Aemond. He was a fairly kind, clever, and humble guy. Definitely the best among Alicen't sons. And honestly? The best among all of Viserys' kids (barring Helaena who we all love). Too bad, he was Alicent's third son. If Daeron was her eldest son then that throne would have been his. Or at the very least, Rhaenyra would have a tough time trying to defeat him. Because he's at least someone you can support for a reason beyond his so-called "birthright".
    (Spoiler for non book readers)
The toughest part with Daeron is that he is a kid - some of the worst atrocities occur directly under his watch after Tumbleton, he isn't directly committing them like Aemond burning the riverlands or Aegon's litany of dark and violent deeds, but because he is 'a Targaryen alone in the world', and a kid besides, he's unable to do anything about it. Literally just if Ormond had lived, if Aemond had not been so overly single minded on vengeance against Daemon, if Daeron hadn't burned hundreds of injured people in a Sept at Bitterbridge (😬 I can believe he set the whole town on fire by accident the way it is described, especially considering how disgusted he is later), if Daeron's councilors had not been afraid of giving up potential dragon power and imprisoned/killed the betrayers sooner, if the men around him weren't so selfishly power hungry, things could have worked out differently. It's also possible history speaks better of him because he dies. Nonthelsss I can't wait till they give us Daeron the Daring alongside Tessarion!
This episode was an emotional roller-coaster. From watching Aegon and poor Haleana griefing over their baby boy 😢. The Daemon and Rhaenyra "fall-out". But I know Daemon will undo his mistake in the next episode. Aemond cheeks supremacy!!!The Cargyll twins duell was so emotional I can't even 😭 Ser Criston probably by now the most disliked character! 🤣 Tom Glynn Carney, Emma D'Arcy and Rhys Ifans put a god-tier performance in this episode! peak acting.

As for Aegon, he is the single best character in not only the Dance of Dragons, but the entire Fire & Blood book ( only behind Jaehaerys I, the GOAT ), and it is not even close.
S2 is portraying him well, but I miss his lines from the book, he has by far the best lines in the entire book and certainly at the very least one of the best ever written by GRRM.
His best lines haven't been adapted yet, but 2 that were cut or badly adapted at this point of the story I also like:
Aegon II was two-and-twenty, quick to anger and slow to forgive. Rhaenyra’s refusal to accept his rule enraged him. “I offered her an honorable peace, and the whore spat in my face,” he declared. “What happens next is on her own head.”
    What happened next was war.
    ---
And the quote from today's episode that was badly adapted:
Yet Ser Otto was losing the trust of his king, who mistook his efforts for inaction, and his caution for cowardice. Septon Eustace tells us of one occasion when Aegon entered the Tower of the Hand and found Ser Otto writing another letter, whereupon he knocked the inkpot into his grandsire’s lap, declaring, “Thrones are won with swords, not
    quills. Spill blood, not ink.”

Otto never used Viserys supposedly naming Aegon, he decided to crown Aegon when Aegon was born, he merely added that lie to tell the people because what not? Regardless what Viserys said, he'd always crown Aegon.
Like, how is it difficult to understand Aegon's claim? Otto talks about it multiple times.
From Showrunner Ryan Condal's own mouth, I quote "Aegon is the male claimant. He is the firstborn son of the dead king. Thus, by all rule, by all precedent, even by the precedent set by Jaehaerys, the greatest king that we've ever had, he should be king. Rhaenyra's really only case is, my dad said he wanted it to be me.

Rhaenyra was also sworn in as the heir, a kings word is law . It’s only a precedent that a son comes before a daughter in inheritance . Since Viserys chose Rhaenyra and had all the lords swear fealty to her, house hightower and all the houses that support Aegon are traitors, oathbreakers and usurpers . It’s not that hard to understand .

By the end of this season, everyone will realize how easily the blacks could’ve killed the entire greens bloodline if Rhaenyra just let Daemon do what he does best from the start. She tries to be just how her father but in a time of war Daemon is what’s needed to win.

Another very good episode. Y do I feel more people r more upset with criston in this episode over daemon who literally had a child killed? It makes no sense to me.
Ive been saying this for the longest daemon and Otto r two side of the same coin. They are upset with their kings and queens because neither listen to them, they both want to be in control, and when they not in control they both over step.
Otto is not upset that aegon is acting like an idiot he is upset that aegon ignored his advise. Otto wants king v back because king v always bend over and was a people pleaser. Its all about contol with both daemon and otto. The only difference between them is that they use different tools to attack their enemies. Daemon uses the blade and otto has his tongue.
Anyone else notice the parallel with rhaenyra calling out daemon manipulation in this episode like how Alicent confront Otto with his manipulation in episode 9.

“It’s pretty clear that he did ask for them to kill a child”
Bro, what? You literally hear the whole conversation between Daemon and the assassins in the previous episode, he told them specifically to go for Aemond. They didn’t find him but they found Helaena and the children and decided themselves that a child would do. It’s not that Daemon told them to go for a child or even that they had unclear instructions, they were just dumb.
