Daemon's problem is that a) he does not know or care about how the Riverlords think or operate and b) he wants his army NOW so his impatience and disinterest in understanding other people's needs and wants leads him to disregard them entirely and so he sanctions war crimes because he wants to force his way and these terrible deeds come back to bite him immediately. He's definitely getting humbled because both he and a lot of his fans in the audience had a tendency last season to accept each and every terrible thing he did because he looked cool and didn't give a sh*t. Well, looking cool and not giving a sh*t doesn't get you an army, Daemon.

Damn, the people of King's Landing has some shared amnesia, forgetting that the dragon and the rider that died killed scores of smallfolk just a few weeks earlier.

they think of the dragon’s as gods so whatever they do is justified pretty much.

I mean the Freys got Harrenhall in returne for their obedience, it wasn’t just them wanting protection

And also lady Arryn doesn't targ blood, she wants a dragon and its rider to gaurd vail not to ride one herself

When Jace said bent knees, he is referring to the Freys providing soldiers not the Freys ceremonially bending their knees. In case you misunderstood. At least that is my reading.

i do enjoy your takes on daemon this season because its essentially what most have been saying watching this season. what is his journey in harrenhal? is there a light at the end of the tunnel? the show runner and writers have said this season there's an arc to daemon this season and that its their most proud (i mean i see where its going ep after 6 +7) but for me personally its taking over 3/4 eps to get there. and you are right about him being tested in harrenhal because daemon is a politician his more of a warrior on a dragon rather than running a kingdom. i think with daemon going around being called "king" is him struggling with a bit of a power dynamic with rhaenyra and now he is alone he wants to make it work for himself (going back to the trait of him not wanting help and doing by himself)
but i do hope you guys know/see the discourse online in regards to daemons character and how he is being written this season and some peoples disappointment with his character so i think with daemons arc/story line at the end of this season is going to be almost a big eye roll (in my opinion) where people will be upset and annoyed that it took so many eps to get to this conclusion because immediately people will say "oh i thought we already knew this in S1". i don't want to bring the book pov with these characters because people immediately people will go "book is not a reliable sourse and cannot be trusted" because they've done so many changes already so who knows.
and i like what one of you said "if daemon was truly loyal to her a lot would be different"...well is that were the story is going with daemon? does he come back to his sense? because if more than anything daemon was loyal to her and the mentioned that S2 picks up a couple of days after lukes death and viserys so in daemons right might be wanted vengeance and then they had their fight where she questions his loyalty and to me there were a lot to be said about the fight on rhaenyras pov that i have questioned by it is what it is and then daemon leaves and is on his own now. my issue is that daemon is not a useless character not one bit (rhaenyra would'nt have asked him to marry for nothing) he has reputation that follows (good or bad) but he is who he is. dangerous but still capable because right now he is still the greens biggest threat hence why they are not rushing to just march to harrenhal because they know he is a problem so daemon is still an asset the blacks needs so we will have to get through this daemon story line
i mean there's is much about daemon character (show wise) to talk about that could go on (we see now why george is his favorite in the books)

Valyrian Steel is actually pretty resistant to dragon fire too, which means the armour didn’t melt, but his skin did.

I don't really agree with Carson on the scene between Jace and the Freys.
Yes he didn't face a massive obstacle, but he navigated the push-back quite adroitly without making himself a fool *despite* his young age and inexperience.
He even managed to get a more advantageous deal than expected without giving away much (because Harrenhal is a dead weight anyway, I don't think Rhaenyra will miss it much).
I think the fact that he also took an initiative and that it worked out quite well is proof that the idea in the first place was a really good one.
Overall the past episodes have made me like Jace a lot and I like the character exposition he's getting.
Overall I think a lot of scenes this episode served as character exposition for the younger generation on Rhaenyra's side, because until now they barely were characters.
It was interesting to know more about Jace's, Baela's and Rhaena's internal thoughts and positions.
