Hi Everyone :) Thanks for all the comments and likes - Please feel free to ask any questions about this fiddle lesson or about Irish music in general and we'll get back to you straight away. Remember to subscribe to our channel and click the bell to get notified of our new video releases.
Would be a lot more helpful if there was a better view of the fingerboard-I’m a complete beginner and I can’t tell what notes you’re hitting. Otherwise a very nice tutorial.
A very accomplished fiddler with a style that is heavily influenced by east European music and his travels in those parts. Tola has a very distinct style which in itself is very nice but it should not be described as a "Clare Style". That is misleading to students of Irish trad'. As long as the student knows this it is fine.

I am loving this lesson! Thank you! Greetings from America, lads!
Glad you enjoyed it! Many more lessons from Tola on the site - www.oaim.ie
really nice thank you
Love it, needs more likes, Irish pride 💚
Wow that bow looks really tight...
It's a convex bow (Baroque), sometimes called a pike-head bow (because of the shape at the tip)
Doesn't look like a baroque bow to me. Just an ordinary bow,
Nice ❤
The Geese in the Bog is the name of this tune
I like songs about nature instead of romance.
He is my teacher
He is my teacher too
Same
❤
His pretty and awsome sister, Mary has more the Clár style, right?
Or a mix? +-
It sound a bit like Sligeach :)
Depends on what you call Clare style... Tola is living near Ennis so...
What's the intro tune and who are the players? (flute, guitar/mandola?)
Hi Gareth, The intro is played by OAIM tutor Thomas Johnston on low whistle, not sure about the other players .. nice isn't it :)
It would help me if I could see the notation; my ear is really bad.
Hi, you can find the notation here - www.oaim.ie/irish-fiddle/clare-fiddle-styles/

Hi Scarlett, these tutorials were recorded 10 years ago. Our newer vids have the fret board close up eg - ruclips.net/video/X1f-4V8IE_c/видео.html

Why does his very cute sister never speaks in Irish in the interviews and documentary?
