- The incredible McLaren F1 GTR Longtail, one of the most iconic race cars ever, hits the streets of London. This was the racing version of the iconic 3 seat BMW V12 powered McLaren F1 supercar designed by Gordon Murray. The car has been road-converted by specialists Lanzante and is now fully road-registered which almost seems surreal considering the value and motorsport history of the car! I feel like I rarely see a Longtail without it having a racing livery on it (excluding from the ones that raced obviously). Looks super clean.
Still WAY more beautiful than most current day supercars. Heck, I would pick it over the P1.

@@hairspringwatches This specific McLaren model only had 10 ever produced and of that only 3 are road legal. When you take into consideration its value and history, it can be considered one of the most special cars on earth.

The longtail gtr is my favorite variant of the Mclaren F1. I was lucky enough to see a papaya orange Mclaren F1 LM when I was just a kid. We were coming back from a road trip and we were about 5 miles from sears point and out of nowhere the Mclaren F1 came roaring past us headed straight for the track. I knew exactly what it was because I played need for speed hot pursuit 2 and in the game one of the hardest cars to unlock is the Mclaren F1 LM. No other car comes close to the mystique that this car brings.

Think about the amount of money that these guys were paid every year just based on salary alone in the development of the cars themselves, how much the materials have increased in value and the lack of knowledge and speciality in the fields of development. Seems like you are cutting some corners on a lot of the insanely expensive classics.

That is a wow car but I actually think the standard F1 rear end is easier on the eye. This car with the F40’s and the XJ220 are my favourite era of hypercars. Think the F1 edged the others out for me with the central driving position and the three seats though
It's because it's a longtail GTR, the regular GTR has a more sober rear that I also prefer. Nevertheless, this car is absolutely gorgeous and evil looking, I love it

90s was best era. I was always a fan of the F50 and the Mercedes CLK-GTR. Then you had the 911 GT1 and the McLaren F1. The F1, 911 GT1 and CLK-GTR was the real holy trinity of HyperCars.
If I could, I’d buy all the road legal GT1 cars. R390, CLK, F1 long tail, Toyota GT-1 etc. the sexiest and most beautiful road going cars. Would love to see this thing ripping up the country side instead of having to be tame in the city. 👍

Those wheels look so identical to the Mercedes CLK GTR wheels that I had to look it up: no, they're not the same, as the Merc's have a bit more spokes.
Kinda feels like seeing a lion in a zoo enclosure, but given the context I understand & am thrilled to see it putt about - just around the block.
But man... I'd sure love to see someone drive this like they are being paid to win a race in it.

This has to be the biggest automotive flex one could probably do on a public street. Taking the already most expensive hypercar in the world F1, and driving the unicorn version of that. Can't lie, I'd be nervous as hell driving that thing even if I was a billionaire.

This is like showing up to your local airplane club meeting in an SR-71. It's a spaceship among Cesnas. Seeing in city streets is cool but it's more nerve wracking than cool. All it takes is one inattentive fool on a cell phone in their regular car...plus he barely cleared the parked cars on that right turn 🙈 I dunno I just can't get behind driving priceless historic race cars in city streets. Public roads maybe...beautiful country roads yes...city streets no. Nevertheless I appreciate the video and the work the went into it. Some of the best footage of a '97 long tail that exists.
Would you rather have it locked up in a garage for the next 15 years like many other F1s? Personally, I'd like to see it on a race track, but just the fact it's being driven at all makes me happy.

I honestly shed a tear watching this. I don't know much about cars but seeing what human beings with enough creativity, intelligence, vision and determination can come up with is mind blowing and so beautiful. The sound, the design, the power and sheer presence it has... unbelievable!!
McLaren F1 is still the best looking and purest hypercar of all including the current generation. Of the newer cars, Hennessy Venom is the closest to the form follows function ideal.

This was filmed only a year ago, I can assure you the longtails go for more than 20Mil. I would say closer to 30 if not more. They're defintely up around that much nowadays.
Can I say, this poor thing does not look happy doing city limits. Wish the owner lived somewhere the car could stretch its legs a bit. Never understood why you would have such a potent weapon in the city. Alas, this is something I would never be able to afford let alone worry about.

McLaren F1 LM in orange is also stunning and there is a McLaren F1 GT (not GTR). A longtail for the road! I think it looks even a bit more elegant 🙂

20M? where does this price comes from? a very little kilometers basic F1 is 10 to 15M. i think a F1 GTR Longtail, first would never be sold by the few who had the immense opportunity to buy one, but then, it would be probably worth way more than 20M.
In the '90s the automotive industry picked. Mercedes was Mercedes, Porsche was Porsche, and this masterpiece leading the field.
That car is just gorgeous. And what a rich history too. Lemans belt under its name in 1997. I may be wrong about the year though
