Best concert I ever went to - 6 hours of Clinton & P-Funk. Then I was leaving and George said "hang out". Everyone but bout 50 of George's people and friends got to stay and Prince came and jammed till 6 in the morning with Mos Def and Alicia Keys! Crazy night. Pisses my sister off every time I tell that story because she didn't want to come that night so missed it.

When I was a teenager, I used to hang with Eddie Hazel , on occasion, when he visited his grandmother on Bainbridge street between Reid Ave and Patchen Ave in Brooklyn. He invited me over to hear him play his new red Gibson guitar at her house. It was a beauty. He told me that he was playing for a band called the Parliaments. When my family moved to Queens, I never saw Eddie again. Years later, retired and living in Oklahoma I remember what Eddie had told me about his association. I researched and regrettably realized he had prospered in the music business and I didn't realize it. Then I found out my boyhood friend, Eddie had passed away. he is listed as one of the Greatest ever guitarists. i see his widow Ms. Brenda received the award for him. I was also proud to hear prince mention Eddie by name. Eddie had a dream. Eddie pursued and achieved his. Eddie, my friend, RIP. God Bless.

Brenda crashed this. She was not invited, Eddie's Mom and sister were there to accept the award. Brenda hitched with a roadie. While she was in prison, Eddie divorced her.

It would've been wonderful had you and Eddie connected later in life...before he passed...I'm sure that he would have been super happy to recall those simpler times with you...

What is little known to the public is that George Clinton was operating the equivalent of a Motown or a Stax records for more than a decade using the same players. Then the record companies he played around with screwed him because they realized what might transpire with internal/external sales competition and cut it off. In reality these players controlled and dominated the waves of our brains for decades thanks to GC. That is why Parliament is Funkadelic and electrosonifies the P-Funk nation into the milleniumsphere and I for one am glad it continues to be digested into all forms of music we consume.

George Clinton is a "gifted & anointed" messenger.
I believe the Holy Spirit is the source of Funk.
Most believe the opposite but can't make sense of this phenomenon called PFunk and the effects that represent it.
Prince knew that's why he said he wanted to testify about it.
People are slow to catch the hidden meanings and obvious clues just like with "JJ Christ's" parables.
Christ always operated pfunky if you think about it, and wasn't he accused of being a devil to in spite of always exposing Satan and warning us against Satan?
Doesn't Sir Noze make sense of Satan historically and "ironically" as the enemy of funk?🤔

Parliament Funkadelic was and is, along with Earth, Wind, and Fire of the same era, THE Supergroups of African American music. They literally changed music the same way James Brown did before them. Of course Bootsy and crew were members of the James Brown Band, and George's sound, coupled with what Bootsy and the gang brought, was a combination that made beautiful funky music! One of a kind!

One of the most dominant rock bands of the era and also unapologetically heavy for the time. Eddie Hazel was competing with basically every Prog Guitarist in Europe and Black Sababth and succeeded to the point where Rush mentions The Mothership at one point. Also managed to be one of the first sci-fi opera space type bands alongside Magma and Pink Floyd.

Pebbles Isinglish There were a couple of articles where the nannies spoke of Prince not wanting to admit Mayte to the hospital and even trying to stop the doctor from entering the room. I also think he was worried about it being leaked to the media.

    • @anonsmith3459

Pebbles Isinglish There's always something to gain when people speak about their personal experiences with celebrities-don't embarrass yourself by repeating that woefully ignorant statement ever again.
Those nannies should've been sued for breach of trust by speaking on another persons household/relationship. No one is talking about their personal lives for everyone to judge.
And just because they interpreted him or his actions a certain way does not mean they knew all of the details and doesn't mean that what they understood was actual fact. Did they talk to doctors about her condition? Would they know pertinent info? NO.
Coming from Mayte herself is a totally different story. Get your self straight.

I got to go to Paisley Park a few times, a friend of mine knew Prince and I live 10 minutes away. Well one time I was just standing there talking to a buddy of mine, and we looked by the door and a guy that looked exactly like George Clinton came gliding in and was just standing there by himself at the doors, he might have floated in on a spaceship, hard to tell at that moment. A Prince sighting there wasn't a big deal, it's his joint, but was this really Mr. Funkadelic himself? It had to be him, nobody looks like him or dresses up like him. After a few minutes standing there alone, someone must have told his purpleness that his idol had showed up to catch one of his late night shows and Prince finally ran over to see him. You could tell Prince had a lot of respect for the master of funk at that moment.

Saw George and P-Funk at Lollapalooza 1994 in Charlotte, NC with Beastie Boys, Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins...George and P-Funk were HANDS DOWN the best part of the show (next to Green Day...Smashing Pumpkins was horrible and the Beasties were too loud). They blew it OUT! Went to get a drink before they came on stage and when I got back to my seat, which was close to the stage, there was this sweet TINY little old black woman in my seat with a big 'ol red pacifier around her neck. I just sorta squeezed in cos no one was sitting anyways. I asked her if she was enjoying herself and she said, "That's my son!". Sure enough, she was George's momma. All of these funk masters influences including James Brown were where Prince got his original funk sound. All of Prince's music had that undergirding of funk...so it was right that Prince was the one to induct Parliment. Parliment-Funkadelics, took James Brown's sound to the next level, then Prince took that to the next level. So when you hear artist like Bruno Mars for this generation, it's already been done with Bootsy in his generation.

It just goes to show everyone what a humble, class group of people George Clinton & his huge Pfunk family are. God bless evey one of you. And from this old school Italian Honkateer and Funkster. Thanks for giving us so much Funk to jam, groove and listen to. Parliament/Funkadelic/Parlet/The Brides of Funkenstein/Fred Wesley and the Horny Horns, Bootsy, Bernie Worrells Woo and all the other clones of the Pfunk mob. We love you!!! And thanks for your huge contribution to the World of Music!!! Love, Peace & Soul !!! 😎🇺🇸🎵🎸🎵🥁🎵

Prince & George Clinton were friends. He grew up on their music & had much respect for them. The used to record in the same complex w/rooms next to each other. How cool is it that George had much respect for the young cat Prince? Awesome!!! Flashlight 1974....when it comes on the hands of all ages still go up!

Prince is what Eddie Hazel could have been. One of few keeping funk alive. Much respect.

Glen is my all time favorite vocalist for PFunk. Played a mean guitar too.
