I'm pleased I found this video. The silver trim has bugged me since I bought my wind trim glacier white half a year ago. I wasn't sure if it is possible to pop the trim off without damaging it . Looks like masking will work fine when I find a bit of time. I only have the matt version plasti-dip. Gloss looks great when clean but mine will often be dusty anyway so shouldn't matter much for me.
I would recommend using the plastidip glossifier. You can find it at most Walmarts or even sometimes home Depot. Basically, on your last flat black coat, don't let it dry completely. Spray a light coat of the glossifier on it while still a little wet. Then let it dry. Maybe 10/15 mins later, do another layer and another 10 mins after that. Glossifier needs to be shaken well and applied conservatively. It can run if not. But it's well worth the tiny effort. It's easy and also looks less artificial.
Considering an EV6 purchase and love the way yours looks! Question on the Plastidip, never used it before but could you have just used a regular spray paint like Rustoleum thats designed for plastics? What's the advantage of Plastidip?
It's peelable and leaves no residue. Think of it like you're spraying a wrap on, but it's a rubberized coating that leaves no permanent residue, etc. It literally peels off. I would not use any non peelable spray paint.
Probably due to thickness and durability. But the cost and difficulty is not something im willing to pay for when this costs me 6$ maybe once a year to do this. People hate on plastidip, but for small use like this, I'm a fan.

@@Emadifications thanks, is one can enough to do sides and front trim? Just curious too what caused your original paint to scratch?
That's Fantastic look! I just got the exact Ev6 a month ago, but I'm just a step behind you on these cosmetic mods :).
Thanks!! What's first on your list?
@@Emadifications I just did the Plasti Dip on the Emblem. But my main one on the list would be do the wrap on the rooftop just like yours. 🤙
@@GearTechKet oh yeah. The wrap helps the look of this car a lot!

do u think wrap would last longer? obviously more expensive but will it survive more wear and tear?
