An apparent reason: hollywood is a fake, corporate, narcissistic conglomerate which feeds propoganda, advertising and 'entertainment' to the masses.
The female celebrities are chosen every 10 years to influence the culture; the same thing is happening to Zendaya right now - her career, acting, "iconic look" is entirely fake. We are "meant" to like her - to want to be her; but few want to and few can. Hence the push back.
People will "hate" on what they are "meant" to love and adore - especially when they didn't chose it, and they don't have a choice

@@pearlosibu exactly! I feel like the video touches on but misses the mark on the Hathaway hate. I never cared, or understood it until I watched this video. Subconsciously, most of us understand that perfection is sinister. The flawlessness is a mask. So the audience really doesn't know her. People don't hate her perfection or Lawrence's too authentic act. They're both being vilified for putting up a mask as different as these masks are. It just took the idiots longer to spot how fake the Lawrence shtick was.

@@tropistan7735exactly. I found this video too simplistic as well as victim-y. Oooh, people hate her pretty privilege. No. She’s fake. And our internal radar spots that. Beyond that, though, she is part of the woke mob that spouts inauthentic nonsense in the order of “kindness/empathy/performative activism/girlboss/victim of male oppression.” But this movie (and comments) were too stupid for me to bother. Let me point you to Martin Decoder. He does incredible work with speech analysis, pointing out the stuff I’ve mentioned above and has at least two videos on Anne Hathaway specifically. It’s such an eye opener. She’s incredibly fake and we must trust our instincts. Privileged white women playing victim and championing the cause of disenfranchised and underprivileged people as well as aligning themselves as part of the group is really disgusting. White women are all aboard this train because they cannot play race or lgbtq and know they cannot do those fat activism games either. What’s left? The patriarchyyyyyyyy. The only person left to fend for themselves is the white man. He better become trans or just get used to being hated. So all Hollywood actresses have joined.

This is the real original reason behind the hate. It's not because she's a pretty, successful girl who reached epic levels of fame like a lot of people think. It has nothing to do with misogyny. People thought she came off as a smug know-it-all, talking down to people and treating others as "less," that she was a serious actress while others weren't. It always baffled me the hate for Anne Hathaway back in the 2010s. I loved her since Princess Diaries all the to now. Hating on her cause she's a great actress and a decent person is just so petty.
Also, kinda ironic that nowadays Jennifer Lawrence is hated now due to some questionable friends she keeps. 👀

Yes people don't like her only because they wish she treated herself with less respect. They don't like her because they don't see her putting herself down. They don' t like that she is so confident in herself and don't seem to care what others think of her.
It's really just self-loathing because these same people who hate her for this same reason, hate themselves for not being as confident as she is.

Alexis de Tocqueville describes this well in his book, "Democracy in America". There is a video summarizing his philosophy on the youtube channel "School of Life". Rising above the masses and elevating yourself in anyway will always come at the cost of offsetting other people's insecurities. That is why they turned on Jennifer Lawrence eventually. (no matter how relatable she seemed) That is why people obsess over bringing down celebrities, to feel better about themselves. Like you said, it explains the need for billionaires and celebrities to make themselves look normal especially now that relatability marketing is the in thing. The MET Gala aftermath and the blocking of celebrities on tiktok is proof of that.

A possible reason is that the media tells us we're "meant to love" certain celebrities (e.g. zendaya) or herald them as the perfect ideal to strive towards; when in reality few of us do and we can sense their career, looks and media hype is artificial. People "hating" can also be the reaction when they feel they are forced to like something without their choice.

She always seemed like a lovely person and of course just an incredible actress, and I never saw anyone give an actual reason why she deserved any hate besides "I just don't like her, she seems annoying" and other dumb, vapid reasons. It is about her persona on interviews or whenever she interacts with people on camera. She always speaks in a condescending way, like patronizing whoever is speaking to her (in a respectful manner and trying to make her look relatable) which comes as inauthentic and performative. Not remotely comparable. People hated Justin because people hate women or girl enjoying basically anything. With Anne is just losers with too much time on their hands hating someone that never did anything wrong.

I really like Anne Hathaway. she's hardworking, fun, and endearing. Some people bring "hate" because they are jealous. Maybe the online "haters" got away with that awfulness because online stuff can often be anonymous. And have you really looked at Anne's face and eyes? There is a vulnerable sadness showing there. To me that makes her more lovable.

I cant believe Ella Enchanted was her first break out role. That movie has such a special place in my heart, it made me love her as an actress.

Both my father and I always loved Anne Hathaway. He said he admired how there was never anything negative or attention seeking about her in the press and hearing him say that shaped some of my values Im proud I upheld throughout my life
I also love she shares a name with Shakespeare’s wife 🖤
It’s strange how Anne is called performative but Jennifer wasn’t. Anne’s perfection is performative (which is why she bluntly admitted her social image was the “sweetheart” image) & but Jennifer’s deprecating and cringe wasn’t considered performative until much later. They’re both actresses witch orchestrated images - why wouldn’t they be performative
