He explains it every time lol, he wants to be different. It's all apart of his life brand. The ray ban build quilty is uncomparable, not the same as painting 99cent store knock off raybands.
You have nailed it Casey! It is almost impossible to explain Dopamine Seeking-Reward Loop to most people and at the same time explaining why Social Media not so bad and in fact can benefit us all, if used judiciously. I wish all of your followers understand and followers of your followers. Thank You!
It is so amazing to see how much effort and quality there is in these vlogs. Each cut is one camera move(unless we're talking about when he was sitting and talking lul)
Jason & Daunte Parrillo I doubt its one take. That would make editing a nightmare, he gets the shot composed, presses record, gets the shot, then presses stop. Then moves the camera to get the next shot composed, presses record, gets shot, presses stop etc etc.
DJay yeah, making a cinematic video requires a lot of shot variance, using a mixture of wide, mid and zoom shots, and it’s much more appealing to watch. I was responding to the person asking if Casey does it all in one take and just moves the camera around and does zoom all while filming one take and then edits all the stuff in between shots out after, which I highly highly doubt. Never heard of anyone shooting like that lol. + there are times he for sure he to be swapping lenses from his ultra wide to at least a 50mm or 85mm you can just tell by the framing and composure/bokeh of some shots that wouldn’t be possible with an ultra wide, no matter how close you get to the object because of how ultra sides distort the image and lack the ability to get a shallow depth of field.
In a world where everyone is forever changing their looks through plastic surgery, it's refreshing to see Casey has never opted to promote or venture in that direction. Staying true to himself every step of the way and not giving in to the pressures of the pursuit to physical perfection. You are gorgeous Casey!! Such an example of self acceptance. I refer to you in so many social dilemmas and stress the fact that anything is possible while remaining true and humble within yourself. Your content has purpose and educational properties which I admire. Thank you!!
Getting rid of social media is hard because I've managed to use it to have a ton of amazing experiences in the real world, and some of them literally came out of simply flicking through Insta Stories. I think you're 100% right that moderation though is key.
Damn he gotchya this time it’s just another one of his yuppie “creative videos” to stroke his own ego making himself think he is some sort of a real artist, cause he desperately wants to fit into the Underground NYC scene
Hey I have been there. I have a tip. You to delete the app and try not to use the website version either. Wait a week or even a month if you can before heading back on it. I use it only to expand my creativity and find people who do creative things too. Use Instagram, Facebook and even RUclips as a tool. A tool to learn, grow and displine yourself with. Set up a timer and respec it. Then get off that place. Your life is not app the app is just a tiny little storage space for our memories.
I agree with Nina. People need to have what we call V.P.P. Vision, Plan, & Purpose when we post to social. We think of it as a way to tell our story, we have an idea of where we want to go and we hope to bring people along for the journey. Be encouraged
This is what I've been feeling for a while now, and you just gave words to my feelings. And also I understand the problem or may be the equation better now. Cool, Cheers!

Casey I used to watch your blogs every day back in 2015, it was an awesome daily routine to come from school and go right to RUclips and watch such an inspiring creator. This is the first vlog I’ve seen in a few years after I moved on to different things. I was so happy to see the classic white glasses that used to inspire me to be creative. I love seeing what you’ve been up to, keep up the good work my man
This is the best RUclips video I’ve ever watched and I’ve been watching RUclips for probably 3 or 4 years. This was amazing. The candy comparison was fantastic.
Ray Ban should partner with Casey and make a limited edition pair of sunglasses called Casey Customs. Following the same aesthetics as Casey's customization, with each pair being unique.
@@UpchurchBrand No branding, exactly like the ones Casey makes. The logo area would look scratched out. They don't need branding on these limited editions because it's already a recognizable design and people who buy them will already know all about them.
@@KeepTheTime True they would be recognisable. Expensive though. May be cheaper to diy, especially with a less expensive brand. If you're grinding it off anyway.
benzmansl65amg it’s crazy Because he differentiates youtube and Netflix as not social media’s when they are. Social media’s are an community based and communication based thing on the internet. So games are also a social media as well. So 4/5 hours on RUclips is just as bad as 4/5 hours on ig.
shamir fisher compare the content you’re exposed to on YT to what you see on IG. I don’t subscribe to friends and family on YT. I’m not seeing everyone glorifying their lives for likes and followers. Now you can argue that YT creators to that, too. But the opportunity to see, for lack of a better phrase “real life shit” on YT is extremely greater than platforms like IG.
Imagine this video made today with tiktok and after the pandemic causing a large spike in dependence on the internet. Not only do we have an app designed to suck you in, but a worldwide event has caused everyone to resort to it to lessen the stress caused by being locked in their house for at least a year. I don’t hate Tiktok or social media btw, but Casey’s points when placed in this new perspective honestly intrigues me.
This is wicked interesting! IG is very addictive I speak for myself. I feel it's changed my attention span for the short and maybe even for the longterm. I wonder how SM will effect our brains 20+ years out. Great discussion, thanks Casey.
You’re videos are always captivating from an editing standpoint as well as content. Thank you for all this information. Time is extremely precious! We need to treat it as the finite ressources that it is! Anyone who wants to do great things cannot afford to waste more time than is necessary!
Twitter for me is only perfect for updates on local news, fire department, police, weather, etc. If an earthquake happens near me, I get notify right as its happening. If a street I live near just had a car accident, I'm notified right away. It's all in how you use it. =)
Bro this ain’t Twitter we dont care about your opinion this is a comment section for the video, you would prob like Twitter better you can express your feeling there
I've never used Twitter and have stopped using Facebook over the last two years. I still use Instagram fairly regularly but I tend to be conscious of it, especially in social settings. I'm 30 and my peers tend to be heavily involved with their phones at all times. I think you are the perfect person to start encouraging the idea that constant phone use is not sustainable. I appreciate you making this video. My girlfriend was on her phone enough last weekend when we were at a brewery that I kind of lost my wind in my sails. As always, Casey, I appreciate you and your mindset on human potential. Please, keep going and pushing yourself!
Everything in moderation. I think as long as the balance is kept then there is also a bonus that YOU give above a number of other mainstream RUclipsrs for example. You engage with a lot of the little people. It means a surprising amount when someone who is effectively on modern day ‘TV’ reaches out and comments on something fans have said. That accessibility without intrusion is really valuable.
I quit Facebook cold turkey, about five years ago, and I think it's one of the best things a person can do for their own mental health. I was on FB a total of a couple hours every single day, and that's just not healthy. I also do not have a Twitter account. I look at RUclips for 20 to 30 minutes per day (usually while eating lunch) and Instagram for 5 to 10 minutes per day. That's it.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. - Ferris Bueller
(Advice I follow by getting off social media more and more lately)
A quote I live by every day.
For me it wasn't hard to delete fb and instagram. Now youtube is different LOL. 😂
i agree
Yup ur right
RUclips is all I have also. No other social media accounts. And I’m happy asf.
Good thing about RUclips is it got watch time and a reminder.
RUclips is the best out of all of them at manipulating😈 you’re literally laughing at your addiction ...
Why don't you make a special Ray Ben-Casey collaboration and make your own sunglass Casey-edition...
It's worth thinking about it... in my opinion😉🙂
Is it not anti-Casey? (*Scraching off the Ray Ban logo)
That would decrease the coolness of his custom-made sunglasses because every random could simply buy this.
$299
He explains it every time lol, he wants to be different. It's all apart of his life brand. The ray ban build quilty is uncomparable, not the same as painting 99cent store knock off raybands.
i know the point of casey niestats glases is to personalise them and make them unique but i know that if they made a colab i would BUY THEM!!!!!!
You have nailed it Casey! It is almost impossible to explain Dopamine Seeking-Reward Loop to most people and at the same time explaining why Social Media not so bad and in fact can benefit us all, if used judiciously. I wish all of your followers understand and followers of your followers. Thank You!
" you need a little bit of ignorance "
I relate to that , sometimes you know something and it's just better without knowing it...
It is so amazing to see how much effort and quality there is in these vlogs.
Each cut is one camera move(unless we're talking about when he was sitting and talking lul)
DJay it’s one take right? Then in post he tightens up or zooms or jump cuts. He is the master and he is where all of us learn from.
@@fails_on_the_regular I was more talking about where he's mod. the glasses
When he made the box fall for example
Jason & Daunte Parrillo I doubt its one take. That would make editing a nightmare, he gets the shot composed, presses record, gets the shot, then presses stop. Then moves the camera to get the next shot composed, presses record, gets shot, presses stop etc etc.
@@omgurheadsgone this is exactly what I meant
Lol oh man that edit at 3:56 was awesome, the slowly cutting/speeding up of the rotation was brilliant to replicate how it makes you feel.
Thank you!!
7:00 *Okay, first of all, (because of) the RUclips algorithm.*
Hhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
So, true
all hail blue shirt kid!
Getting rid of social media is hard because I've managed to use it to have a ton of amazing experiences in the real world, and some of them literally came out of simply flicking through Insta Stories. I think you're 100% right that moderation though is key.
Don't usually watch Casey but I'm glad this video popped up in my recommended, really interesting to see someone's outlook on these topics like that.
Damn he gotchya this time it’s just another one of his yuppie “creative videos” to stroke his own ego making himself think he is some sort of a real artist, cause he desperately wants to fit into the Underground NYC scene
insta ruin my whole day every day and i fell so bad ever night
Anyone in same circle
SPORTS REVELER uninstall and delete account if its that bad
Instagram are for hookers
delete the app. get some self respect back
Hey I have been there.
For me RUclips is the most addictive thing on this planet !
Try cocaine
@@amartyaadukoorie2804 lol
Exactly
This is what I've been feeling for a while now, and you just gave words to my feelings. And also I understand the problem or may be the equation better now.
Cool,
Cheers!
Same, he put into words something Ive been trying to explain to my family and friends that I need to work on.
I thought I was the only one who thought about RUclips and Netflix vs. Twitter and Instagram like this. Glad to hear this!! Thanks
The genius of this editing, and this at 1:15. Damn. Like he's constantly thinking about the edit as he's going. Box falls. He gets another shot of it makes it fall again. What the hell. Nice!
Getting the bell notification for Casey's videos makes my day every time
...is it 'cause he lives his life with responsability, authenticity, integrity & creates & co-creates ...
Ann Abel the value and creative inspiration I get out of his videos is why he’s so successful because I know I’m not the only one who thinks this.
The paint chips just chilling on the keyboard of his Mac at 1:53 was giving me like....anxiety man 😂
Casey you are awesome. You have been with me through the hardest times of my life. Youve inspired me a lot. Youve evn inspired me to come out and start my own channel. Thanks for all the positivity. God bless you!
Thats so wholesome
Casey I used to watch your blogs every day back in 2015, it was an awesome daily routine to come from school and go right to RUclips and watch such an inspiring creator. This is the first vlog I’ve seen in a few years after I moved on to different things. I was so happy to see the classic white glasses that used to inspire me to be creative. I love seeing what you’ve been up to, keep up the good work my man
I’m getting tired of social media. Finally realizing none of it changes my life. RUclips on the other hand....🍿
Who else in bed watching this right now
I Just came from school.
Almost true, the toilet
Haha me
YEAH BEATS - Rap Instrumentals YEAH
unfortunately not, at college😭
This is the best RUclips video I’ve ever watched and I’ve been watching RUclips for probably 3 or 4 years. This was amazing. The candy comparison was fantastic.
That's why the world need influencers like u; Miss u
I fully support you Casey! Our phones are supposed to improve our lives!! Not distract us so we miss out on it.
Sutter Family Films = YES MAN
I quit fb/Twitter 7 years ago, one of the best things ever. Social media is just toxic
Yea but you’re still using your alt. Accts. So it doesn’t really count there bud
you are so very stupid
as a teacher, this video is awesome. hope it gets to more of my students, great work man
I admires teacher that improve their student's lifestyle. Thank you.
I'm seriously *addicted* to *RUclips* 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Social media addition is a big problem, yes.
lol
i m youtube addicted
We agree
I personally thought that social media differentiation was worse
The cost vs value of this video was +value
Idk if it's the glasses but it really feels like old Casey is back! 😄
It's clearly the glasses
0:38
That editing Tho...
GOLD.
Amazing video. Some solid points being made in here. Thanks for the content / entertainment!!! 💪
Ray Ban should partner with Casey and make a limited edition pair of sunglasses called Casey Customs. Following the same aesthetics as Casey's customization, with each pair being unique.
so everybody can be a wannabie that's casey thing people need to do their own thing
Would they do it with no branding though? Or would he still need to grind and black out the logo.
Then Casey Neistat's sunglasses wouldn't be unique.
I spend 4 hrs a day watching RUclips.
benzmansl65amg it’s crazy Because he differentiates youtube and Netflix as not social media’s when they are. Social media’s are an community based and communication based thing on the internet. So games are also a social media as well. So 4/5 hours on RUclips is just as bad as 4/5 hours on ig.
i spend about 12 hours a day
shamir fisher compare the content you’re exposed to on YT to what you see on IG. I don’t subscribe to friends and family on YT. I’m not seeing everyone glorifying their lives for likes and followers. Now you can argue that YT creators to that, too. But the opportunity to see, for lack of a better phrase “real life shit” on YT is extremely greater than platforms like IG.
I’m with you
Me too. Gotta stop this shit
I stopped checking Facebook 15 years ago, did I miss anything?
WaltWW nope
Yeah no facebook is not worth the time. Good choice.
I stopped using Facebook since 2012
WaltWW, probably not. But you can always go back to reminisce on stuff.
did that even exist in 2004?!
Just by turning notifications off for all my social media apps have made me get on less
Personally i hate Twitter so much so much distraction and i prefer RUclips cuz i can pick whatever i wanna watch and ignore what i don't
Dem suggested videos doh...
Twitter for me is only perfect for updates on local news, fire department, police, weather, etc. If an earthquake happens near me, I get notify right as its happening. If a street I live near just had a car accident, I'm notified right away. It's all in how you use it. =)
SPEAK UP you can use Google assistant or siri for these informations
Bro this ain’t Twitter we dont care about your opinion this is a comment section for the video, you would prob like Twitter better you can express your feeling there
Donald Duck he's taking about social media including Twitter
9:55 - 10:56 Story of my life, it's very hard to break that addiction
"but...i also love candy" anyone else thought he was about to say Candice??
This is probably the most important video you've ever made. THANK YOU. I teach high school and plan to show this to all of my classes.
I stopped checking Facebook. I feel much happier now.
Yea must be hard seeing your post those pics of us, knowing I’m plowing her brains out
I deleted fb last yr it got annoying
same
@@donaldduck2140 you missed one important word in your shitpost xD
Why don't you make a merch that says "I AM THE NOISE"
Make a movement !
He sure is
Kinda self hating isn't it? It's like saying "I am worthless" or "My opinion doesn't matter"
Stfu
What a shite idea
A lot of people told me about this channel. Not sure how I missed it. You are considered one of the greats!
Hope one day to be in that same boat
I love the Tom Sachs overshoe. Still cool to see you support your old friends
TLDW; It’s about moderation. Too much of one thing is bad, do it sparingly and you get more out of it.
If you read this..i wish you a great day✌🏻
Alwin Elsendoorn thank you!
Meester Maarten graag gedaan;)
Everything in moderation. I think as long as the balance is kept then there is also a bonus that YOU give above a number of other mainstream RUclipsrs for example. You engage with a lot of the little people. It means a surprising amount when someone who is effectively on modern day ‘TV’ reaches out and comments on something fans have said. That accessibility without intrusion is really valuable.
Quit Facebook for 5 weeks, best 5 weeks for my mind, peace!
That's it.
The platforms have failed us because of the founders greed and the way people are designed
Its all about being a content producer MORE than you consume content!! Keep making great content everyone! Awesome video Casey, this message is extremely important especially for content creators :)
Hey Casey I quit Instagram the same day you published the original video and feel like I have more time to do other stuff. Its good that people like you acknowledge that this "SOCIAL MEDIA" can be addictive and knowing how to manage it can be helpful for your brain health.
