Hi
Yo Casey, as a 24 year old dude with no dad, just being there for him is all you gotta do.
I didn't have a dad either, every day I show up for my son because the idea of not being there for him absolutely kills me. I feel you man.

This 28 year old with no dad can confirm. Show him your there for him. All you gotta do.
felt that. Not having a dad growing up inspires me to be the best fucking dad possible one day.
Casey when the kids get older your role moves from "Management" to "Consultant"
this is great advice.
I think just being open emotionally is one of the greatest gifts a dad can give his kids.
I love how it sounds!

Normal people charging a tesla: Waiting for 30 minutes, maybe get a drink or snack.

He’s always gonna need you Casey. Don’t worry about your role.
As a 22 year old who doesn’t see his dad much. A friend is the #1 thing. Just be a friend. As well as an advisor. You’re no longer a parent and teacher but a friend and advisor
This is beautifully said . Thank you
He's always a parent
YVRCasting he will always and forever be a father, and a great one. But parenting ends when they begin their own life. The role changes. Be a friend, look at them as an equal, give them advise and let them mess up. Always be there for them not as a teacher but a friend. It’s no longer just a dad and his kid. It’s two grown adults who have known each other for years.
@@BattelToTheDeath1 I second you. By the time the kid reaches an age where he can actually think for himself, the parents should slowly stop the role of being parents and hindering the growth of the child. It's extremely difficult for many concerned parents but in the long run, your concern will destroy your kid's confidence bcuz he will always be following your lead.
@@BattelToTheDeath1 it's role. .. And parenting doesn't stop. Just changes. Enjoy your day

As a dad to a 10 month old, I can already feel the dread coming up a bit of when our girl flies out and we become "less of a parent" in the sense that she finds her own path and we kind of just have to let her figure things out for herself. Obviously we can't really analyze your parenting from a few quick clips, but the first idea I get is that you're just there giving him the right example of hard work while showing him you're interested in his life and want to spend time with him.
.... our baby girl is sleeping at the moment but I think I'm going to just hover over her crib for a bit

Don't overthink your role with your adult child. Be around, hang out, call and check on him from time to time, invite him to family stuff and gatherings, joke with him, try to relate to him as another adult, tell your opinion, give advice, let him know that you support him no matter what etc. Seems like you're doing good as a father to an adult.
