    These planes are used as water drop tankers for forest fires all over mountainous areas in the USA - their low level flying ability is very useful

    This one plane has made it to god level status in history. The capability, endurance and payload were something that wasn't easily replaced for a long time after ww2 ended. Even after military service these things were used in the civilian world as fast exec transports right through to aerial fire bombers. The K model Counter insurgency model was the coolest looking with the wing tip fuel tanks.

    Just to educate, the pronunciation of the capital of South Korea is Seoul (sounding like Soul).

    Extremly limited vision for the pilots,the engine were to far forward,you could only see whats in front of you,so flying in formation in cloud was a nightmare,many crashed into each other doing just this.They had to rewrite the rule books for formation flying.

    4 pods 8 guns?

    • @kiwidiesel
      @kiwidiesel Год назад +1

      That's just for the under wing pods, there was many gun configurations. Usually the pods were used or under wing ordnance but not both since the pods used the under wing hard points. Can throw a lot of lead down range either way its set up.

      @@kiwidiesel At the 3:00 mark he says 8 gun pods not 8 guns in 4 pods.

      @@lambastepirate Oh my bad, yes you are correct on that, I didn't realise you were referencing a time stamp with your comment. One or two small inaccuracies pop up during the vid but its a solid effort and the archive pics are brilliant.
