From memory, the bolts go through both the radar housing and mount, and so when you remove the radar housing to access the connector, the bar has to comes off anyway. It's only two bolts so the easiest part of the install.
How will you compare the bike against the Multi V4? Like you, i previously had many big GS's, then the Multi V4 and now waiting for the GSA. Had a short demoride on the GS with knobby tires. Except for the tires i enjoyed the bike, even though it felt a bit more cramped (knee angle) for my 194 cm, compared to both the Multi and the 1250. Also, my girlfriend did not like the passenger seat on the new bike, must be smaller than before...? Bmw representatives have said the Adventure will be more touring oriented, and that the difference between the two will be bigger than before. Can't wait. 😎
Comparisons are relatively easy having owned three Multi's and now five GS/GSA's. And I have friends with the V4 and GSA's, so might do further back-to-back group test comparisons. The 1300 is a better bike than the 1250 in terms of sporting dynamics, performance, and additional features (ACC, E/Windshield, AHC), but looks less rugged and is slightly worse for passengers (better suspension but thinner seat). It's much closer to being a Multi V4 now, but has more accessible torque, shaft-drive, better brakes and greater agility. The GSA is likely to be much heavier, with better wind and crash protection, have a taller front wheel, and greater range. It won't be as nice to push around or go fast on, but will be better with a passenger on a cold and wet January day when you have 400 miles still to go. Not unless the difference between the 1250 GS and 1250 GSA. It's what works for your user case that matters. I often ride an Adv-Tourer like a sports-bike, and I always ride solo, so I like the lighter and more dynamic feel and don't think I'll be buying the heavier GSA when released. But many will prefer that for their needs no doubt.
No it doesn't. But that's the only USP the BMW (rebadged Garmin) Connected Navigator has over it - for "TWICE" the price. IMHO that's not remotely worth it. If going the Zumo route I would highly recommend the more affordable XT over the XT2 because it is very reliable when importing GPX files, which isn't the case with the XT2 IMPE.
Good question, thanks for asking. Technically nothing voids your warranty overall. But changes to your bike could void "specific" aspects. Example if my engine or gearbox failed, it would be covered under warranty, because wiring in a new GPS cable couldn't possibly damage the engine or gearbox. Essentially all I've done is wire the positive and negative of a well established and industry respected 5v device to the positive and negative of an official BMW OEM connector. So even if I had an electrical issue, BMW would have to prove that fitting this accessory had directly caused whatever the electrical issue was in question. In NA we have laws that state a customer is allowed to service their own vehicle, including the right to self repair, without impacting warranty - other than, obvious neglect/negligence on an owners part. I hope that answers your question!
Thanks. Really useful. Just subscribed.
You're very welcome Garry. And thank you for Subscribing!
Great detailed explanation.
Thank you!
Thank you so much. Best disassembling Video I have seen so far. Save me a lot of time and nerves. 🙏
Thanks!!!🎉
Thank you!
This is perfect timing for me I own a Garmin Zumo xt2 like yours and waiting delivery of BMW GS1300 Trophy
Great video, looks good. I might have to do that on my XR.
Does the nav bar really have to be removed? Seems like you could have kept it on.

I also brought a lock for the Garmin so it can’t get pinched
How does that lock look like and where can I purchase it. Thanks

Hi,
Does it work with the wonder wheel ?
No it doesn't. But that's the only USP the BMW (rebadged Garmin) Connected Navigator has over it - for "TWICE" the price. IMHO that's not remotely worth it. Are you missing the BMW Wonder Wheel for NAV functions? And in the same vein, how do you find the touch interface while riding?
Doesn't void your motorcycle's warranty?
