The XT2 is powered by 12v not 5v like the XT was so no need for the little black box found on the XT power cable, on a plus side you can cut the cable to the length you need & not have to hind 1 metre a cable
Great in depth review. I don't think I can justify the cost when you say the old is great. I have a BMW R1200 GS. I use Cardo packtalk bold. Would I be able to use either of these units, and communicate with my pillion, while hearing the sat nav? My missus has a non cardo so I have to put in Bluetooth. If she a had a cardo would all this work? I don't connect the tft no more. That caused no end of trouble.
Hi Toby, thank you for the vid, very informative.. just on another point, could you tell me here you can get the Mic Muff / wind blockers you have on? Thanks both.
Nav6 works like a dream, it follows every route way point by way point, just the ghosting screen that's spoiled it, I'm going to send mine away to Germany to be sorted. I'm really disappointed with the XT , how the hell can it just decide to take you on different roads than those you've planned and dropped way points in ? I had it in the Picos this year and it changed some of my routes, picking stupid short cuts etc ... 😢
They are both exceptional units. If you are buying a new one I’d have the XT2 as a bigger screen and a little faster but is £550. The XT is about £350 and is a brilliant unit. The XT also uses the garmin drive app which works flawlessly. Depends on budget really but both are great
I got fed up with Nav 6 and tried the BMW app on phone/cradle which was good but too small so went to Tab Active 3 tablet. 8" display and with a controller from Carpe Iter I can interact with basic functionality through the wonder wheel
HELLO GUYS. ENJOYED THE VIDEO on the new GARMIN ZUMO XT2 6 INCH SCREEN. not got a sat nav on my BMW RT LIKE THE LOOK OFF THIS ONE. Please can you tell me does it come preloaded with EUROPEAN maps, all EUROPE. OR DO YOU HAVE TO PAY A SUBCRIPTION EXTRA FOR EUROPEAN MAPS. THANKS PAUL
How did you manage to get the xt2 to try for free . I’m looking at buying one to replace my Tom Tom rider 550 but would like to try it first . If you could let me know that would be brilliant . All the best Dave
Garmin will sell you maps on their website for 120 us dollars for certain areas. to cover the USA you need 3 or 4 uploads. I have not updated my maps thinking the new device will bring a new map, I was wrong. 10 or 15 years old maps on a new divise
Cracking unit or not, the ongoing problems with the Nav 6 are all over RUclips. The problems appear to be substantially worse than what I was anticipating when I began to look into the extent of the problems I had heard & read about. It's going to be a Zumo XT2 for me. I won't touch the Nav 6 now, whiz wheel compatible or not.
Do you.know if there is an adaptor for the XT2 to fit with the navigation preparation on a GS gents? I seem to remeber you did a video with the original XT on this.
Great video chaps, thank you. I’ve now watched quite a few videos on this device and whilst it seems very good. It also seems quite temperamental. I’m in the market but at the price they want should I accept these idiosyncrasies? Anybody know what the Germans and others charge if you’re found withcamera tracking?
Yep I had that route problem last year in Croatia tour with my XT. In the end used my spare nav6 just so I could stay with my group. The XT is still better than the nav6. Not sure I'd upgrade to XT 2 as the previous version isn't that old, is it?
Hi guys, could I ask a question please. If I wear a pair of noise cancelling in earbuds such as Sony WF1000 x5's can you set this or the standard XT model via Bluetooth to deliver driving instructions direct to my buds-many thanks
Have garmin managed to make importing gpx files easier and the nav will actually navigate rather than just show you a line, and that rout planner is useless. I end up putting the rout into the nav 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
I hard disagree with your opinion on the Zumo XT2. I don't understand why Garmin chose to go full in the phone app route. Planning routes on a phone is incredibly tedious, it might work for 1 route but definetly not for planning entire vacations. Using a PC is so much easier simply because u have way larger screen to work with. I also really do not want my phone connected to my Zumo, with the Zumo XT1 it brings WAY more problems then benefits. Its traffic is absolutely horrendous, just doesnt work and breaks routes. It also wants to take over music play which i do not want trough the Zumo but trough the bike. Another huge issue with the Zumo XT2 is that they dropped the option to share routes over bluetooth to another Zumo unit. This is a function me and my friends use very often. I absolutely see the Zumo XT2 as a big downgrade to the Zumo XT1. And dont understand any of the choises Garmin made here.
And we mentioned those issues too. But the screen is great, it’s fast and works well. But as you say (and as we did) there are some things that are better on the XT1
The XT2 is powered by 12v not 5v like the XT was so no need for the little black box found on the XT power cable, on a plus side you can cut the cable to the length you need & not have to hind 1 metre a cable
Very, expensive. When my Nav6 packed in I went to a 8" tablet £169 & a 3D printed mount for my GSA. Brilliant can use Google maps 🐾
Can you show us a picture?
I agree with you. These are a ridiculous price. I use a £20 Nuvi 55 on my bike, and I'm planning to switch to a tablet like you when the Garmin dies.
So you have to rubber up on the Zumo XT2

Boys, if you could do a teach-in on how to plan a route for Garmin devices, that would be HUGELY useful
Hi Toby, thank you for the vid, very informative.. just on another point, could you tell me here you can get the Mic Muff / wind blockers you have on? Thanks both.
Thanks buddy. The mic mugs come with the DJI mic

What one would you recommend now after using both for a while the XT or XT2?

@@RiderCamTV I don’t have either but looking into getting a bike navigation system.
Id be interested in a review of the XT2 vs the new bmw connected ride navigator !!!! Hopefully you could source this!? 🎉
Might be able to :)
Hi boys random question where did you get your sheepskin cushion for your bike 👍👍
I got fed up with Nav 6 and tried the BMW app on phone/cradle which was good but too small so went to Tab Active 3 tablet. 8" display and with a controller from Carpe Iter I can interact with basic functionality through the wonder wheel
Out of interest how much did it cost to get set and started? Ride safe
@markholroyd5365 If you exclude the controller about £300. You can do it way cheaper if you get a 2nd hand Tab Active2.
@@1Markyparky brilliant I think I’m interested would you have a link to any of it?
@markholroyd5365 I'd send a pic, but not sure how to here. I can post on UKGSER if you're on there 😁
@markholroyd5365 I've tried to post a couple of times links to what I've used, but they don't seem to appear 🙁
I could never go back to Garmin

Thanks for the comments buddy. It comes with the Europe maps (if you by it in the Uk) and there is no subscription.

I see that one of you guys is ex Navy. You missed a fleet air arm field gun reunion last night in Hayle
I’m ex CD didn’t do FG but would have been GUZ if I had…. Ride safe
Small question does it fit on Barney with the 3D-AM adapter fellas 🤔
It does but as the xt2 is a larger screen I had to use longer bolts with spacers and then it fitted
@RiderCamTV thanks buddy much appreciated, I bought the Connected Ride Navigator and it doesn't fit. If only I'd watched this video first 🙄
Possible to use this in Asia like Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand? How do we get the maps? Thanks
Not sure. You will have to check on the garmin website

Why O Why won’t BMW just integrate Apple CarPlay into its TFT? This is insane. Take a lesson from the Honda Africa Twin to see how it should be done.

Yep, there is one...Adventure Bike Shop does them (about £70) unless you want to order them from Italy.
@@mikedignum1868 Thanks Mike.
Yes they are available from 3DAM from Italy. Postage is really quick to the uk
@@RiderCamTV Thanks
@@RiderCamTV Is the same adaptor that you have on video XT and XT2 3DAM adaptor are comptible ? Tks

Have you looked at the XT (first one)? It’s an awesome unit and works flawlessly
I’ve just binned a Chigee and purchased an XT2.
It’s a far better device (especially for off -road trails)
Yep I had that route problem last year in Croatia tour with my XT. In the end used my spare nav6 just so I could stay with my group. The XT is still better than the nav6. Not sure I'd upgrade to XT 2 as the previous version isn't that old, is it?
Hi guys, My wife dragged me away to cook so left before the end of the vid! Did I miss the sniff test ???
Not sure who is the most odd you or Toby? Ride safe

Yes I think you can as this would be in place of the headset
My Nav 6 has been superb since Adrian at GPS Station fixed it 2 years ago. Definitely won't be buying XT or XT2
The NAV6 is a good GPS but it’s a shame / not a shame that it requires Adrian at GPSStation to fix it! Love mine. Ride safe
