Good gracious. I’ve realized in the last two days how much physical and emotional tension I carry in my neck and jaw. “Some singers are just tight and don’t even realize it.” That’s me! I have a lot of work to do.
Oh my gosh, I knew I had a problem with neck tension, but I had no awareness of how much/often I stick my neck forward when singing!! This video made me so much more conscious of it.
I’ve been dealing with infected lymph nodes around my throat and it’s been causing a lot of tension with speaking and especially singing, and every time I try to recover and start doing my vocal practices again everything gets reinfected and tenses up, do you have any advice for something like this?
This teacher is awesome. I have seen a lot of videos of other teachers and Victoria is the best. I bought her "video review" and it was totally worth it (i wasn't paid to say this 😆). I wish i had seen her before wasting money in workshops that did nothing for me.
I’ll be adding these exercises to my routine beginning now. Your guidance has helped me step into new level of awareness. I have a much greater understanding of how my body produces voice, thank you!
Hi Victoria! Is it true that one of the techniques to close your vocal folds is using vocal fry in singing? If yes I was having a hard time doing it or I think I am doing it wrong, tysm in advance Victoria!! Have a nice day/night :)
When I am singing in the congregation at church, I often get emotional and “choked up.” My voice just stops, and tears start streaming. I know it is emotional, and I had begun to embrace it, lift my hands, and sing again when and if I am able. It happened this past Sunday, and I remembered to check my head/neck alignment and posture of my chest and shoulders (all fine) and place my fingers on my neck. That gentle touch fixed the tension and I could sing freely, all the way through the service... even while happy tears kept on streaming. I know I sound like a broken record when I say, thank you for these wonderful videos! At the end of our (home)school year, I look forward to joining your program on a more personal level. You are a real treasure.
I am taking notes. Thanks again Victoria. I love your tips and tricks and education. I just got new dentures and I am training myself to sing and eat with them. That is a real task to keep them in the mouth while singing lol.
Hi Victoria.. I'm a beginner and I came across your videos and absolutely love your teaching style . Could you pleas point me in the right direction on which video go start with? I'd appreciate it so much. I don't even know what voice type I am. I know if either be mezzo-soprano or soprano.. so I def need some direction in that department as well.
Knowing your voice type is not crucial in the beginning unless you need to know for a particular purpose - like joining my audio exercise training program, buying a book that comes in different voice parts, or joining a choir. For my voice program, I generally recommend alto/mezzo-soprano for beginners unless you feel that your voice is higher. You have 30 days to exchange anyway. As far as what to watch, YES! @@Victoria-Victorious thank you so much Victoria. I have actually been watching the video for beginners first voice lession ascending and descending and the lip drills and as far as the knowing the voice type I think that it's more of a curious thing for me . But thank you for taking the time to respond

I Generally have a lot of neck tension given that I am a software engineer. Explains why I get neck tension while singing
I have a lot of neck tension just from looking down at the computer keyboard or the piano.
@@Victoria-Victorious That is why I have to go to the chiro and do decompression therapy to get the tension out of my neck. It is a battle.
Wow this really helped me so much . I thought I couldn’t breathe or got worse at singing … I’m way too tense in my neck and shoulders
Today is a lucky 🍀 day "so I'm saving all my love for u" my lovely idol Whitney💜queen 👑Nippy😍💖
