OMG that is a monster!!!! It's gorgeous.
It certainly was! I wish I had the space to keep it that size… maybe some day ☺️
Hi, thank you for your video and suggestion! Very helpful! I wonder what happened to the original plant, I mean, the stalk all cut? The cut parts, you planted again but the original one left with no leaves? I have a giant Monstera of 50 years old and I would like to cut and reshape as it massively grew throughout my living room... thank you!
I got rid of the old rootball. A this point it’s almost ready to be cut again, so I may keep the rootball this time and see if it regrows.
@@NicolesGardenNS Thank you!
Beautiful 🙏👍🙏
Thanks! It’s grown almost as big again in the last year 😂
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Amazing! Glad it was helpful, I’ll be doing more like this over the winter.
Mine is growing side ways and I am gonna have to cut it and propagate 😢what is the potting mix did you use and the pot please. I feel confident after watching your video. Thank you!
I always use whichever pot I have on hand that’s the proper size and a good, all purpose potting mix is fine 👍
That was super helpful! And I never thought to use the leftover sacrificed leaves as decor. Definitely will next time.
They last quite awhile in a vase too 🪴🪴
Great video! Thank you!
Thanks so much!
I have 2 of these in my backyard, and they are huuuge, and I really want to cut them up and propagate them.
The reason I want to do that is because my neighbour thought they were on their property (our boundary is a bit vague) and I want to save them because they just cleared a lot of greenery on their property.
Their main trunk and leaves are seriously huge and thicccc
Question: Will they remain huge, and new leaves be equally huge as they regrow?
I want to have them as indoor plants.
I'd like a slightly small monstera in my house, but I want to save these ones.
Going by your method in this video I could get a number of them.
I also heard that they should sit in water for some months before repotting? Does that depend on the maturity of the plant and root system?
I'm kind of just assuming that they'll be huge because the plant is old and large, and the leaves will match the current energy.
I hope this makes sense haha.
(I'm kind of new to plants. In my plant dad era)
Thanks!
Hi! I assume you are in a tropical climate if they are growing outdoors happily. If you can take a cutting off the very top it may be a bit smaller, and growing indoors they won’t really get as big. It also depends on the variety, there are many dwarf varieties on the market. You definitely don’t need to sit them in water, I planted mine directly in soil. If you want to see the root development though, this is a good way of doing it. Depending on your indoor conditions, the leaves MAY continue to be huge, but that’s not guaranteed. My recommendation, go for it! Take multiple cuttings and try it both ways, that way you’ll have lots and if you find they root faster in water, please let me know :)
So you don't wait for the cut ends to dry and can just pop them right into soil without sealing or anything like that? I'm so scared of the cut ends rotting!
Nope, I never have! I’ve probably cut it this way a dozen or so times now over the years.
What kind of piano? I’m also a teacher and have my monstera near a grand piano. She and the dogs and cat get a lot of musical stimulation
Hi! It’s an antique Heintzman (Canadian made) from the late 30’s but I have a newer upright in my studio that I use for teaching. The grand only gets ‘light’ use from me & my own kids. Christmas tunes and such ❤️❤️
Help! I have a big Monstera. It has 5 long stalks with 5 big leaves. No nodes. How do I propagate it? Unless the nodes are under the soul. 😮
The nodes will likely grow once cut, but with only 5 leaves that doesn’t se ready to cut. If it’s growing that tall with few leaves, it likely needs more sun. I wouldn’t recommend cutting it yet.
That was kind of painful to watch. I would have got a bigger house just to keep that beauty intact! Would love to hear your music. Any chance of that?
It won’t take long for it to grow back to that size 😁
Maybe… I’m sure people are mostly interested in only the gardening content but could probably sneak a little playing in here and there 🎹
Hi Nicole, how many years old is your lovely plant?
Oh at least 20, but I chop it like this every 3-5 years to keep it under control. Since I made this video it’s rooted well and put out 3 new leaves 🌿☺️
I'm curious. I's there a chance of these "leaves" that are just in water actually growing roots ?
You mean if I left them in water, instead of potting them up? I haven’t tried that myself but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen people do that successfully. Worth a shot!
@@NicolesGardenNS Thank u! i found some leaves (Someone throwed them out like trash, poor things) and i am trying to root them. But i'm uncertain if i should try it on water or directly on soil.
I came into the possession of over 15 massive monstera cuttings. My plan was to sit them in water for a month - but you went straight to soil? I want to do this right as these cuttings are from a plant that must be decades old
I don’t think there is one ‘right’ method, and if you have that many, why not try half in water and half in soil? That’s the best way to compare!! Just make sure the cutting don’t have more than 3 leaves or they may have difficulty sustaining that much foliage while building a strong root system.
สวัสดี มาติดตามชมด้วยครับ
Thanks for watching
Please give me those cuttings 🥲
I don’t think they’d survive being shipped 😂🌿
@@NicolesGardenNS 😭😭😭💔
Throw the piano out keep that beautiful plant
NO
too much ego.
Congratulations! You’ve got me all figured out from one short video. I hope your life circumstances improve and you learn to be a half decent, pleasant person ✌️
When you next prune her may I please have some cuttings with nodes? 🥹💕💕💕
I usually use them all when repotting!
Shes basically telling you NO! Lol
