Thumbs up for this awesome video. It gets into my suggestions when I open YT and always delivers! I think if I don't watch your videos, I'd be stuck with my limited plugin palette for years.
I used this two weeks ago, when I was at one of the studios. But unfortunately there was not enough time to test it more. Glad to see you done in depth tutorial, thanks man you rock 💪
Saw a recent review with that clipper plugin from Stillwell Audio...there was a shit ton of inter-sample modulation and aliasing! Which means mud! Just saw this yesterday, forget the dudes name, was a Scotish dude had real hardware from access analog(internet real hardware), and acustica audio plus a bunch of common clippers, and they all sucked basically.
hey david - please check out the SIR STANDARDclip - its the best clipper i've ever used. Id be very much interested in a comparison between these two as well, maybe even throwing in a few more like Kazrog clip and JST etc.
hi there got a doubt. and pardon my ignorance yet. am looking for make my drums hit harder ( drum breaks o hip hop and trap drum) and i dont know wich to choose between this or the Event Horizon Peak-Eating Limiter any advice sr. thanks in advance!
BRO!!!!!! H E L P!!!! Ok.... so I returned the 828es for the 8pre like you have. I didn't dive deep into it, I just registered it and set it up for "audio interface". Everything worked fine EXCEPT FOR ONE THING.... I keep getting a repetitive "click" sound when listening to someone talking like Podcasts or RUclips interviews. To stop it, I have to go to MENU, SETTINGS, FACTORY DEFAULT... and press RESET. And for some reason that worked. The clicking sound was gone! BUT... the next day when I turned it on, the clicking sound was back! And I had to do that Factory Default-Reset again... and it went away. Question.... Are you familiar with this problem? And how do I get that clicking sound/setting to go away and stay away?
Great video as always! I'm pretty sold on the clipper after seeing this video. A friend of mine told me about the 26 band limiter that comes in the elevate Master bundle and claimed its the best ITB limiter he's ever heard. Apparently its quite the CPU hog though. I would love to hear your opinion on that whole bundle. It seems like for 200 its a pretty good deal.
MixbusTV I pick up the bundle and I love it! I love how you can control the attack of the transients. It seems like it can bring out elements of sound that other plug ins can’t. Thanks for the advice and video!
i like this clipper alot but its really a lag of readability... it doesnt show how much its clipping in numbers... i hope newfangled will do a update on this! why is my kick loosing its roundness after limiting even under 1 db of gainreduction... is it because i do my kicks in kick2 and i choose to make kicks without much transients and lowmids? but how can i limit and clip a kick with more meat than transients?
Add transient before and boost it afterwards. I sometimes also cut lows/boost highs before and then boost lows/cut highs afterwards to keep the low end cleaner
@@mixbustv i love to formulate questions like this one because it makes me focus on the best of the best from which I'll choose the plugins I like their sound.
@@mixbustv thought so lol, I'm still trying to figure elevate out as I'm in the process of mastering a uk garage track for my mate, do you have(or planning to do) a tutorial on it bro?
@@Adam-g-uk not really, it's not something you use as a go to for mastering, it's pretty heavy handed and it changes the material quite a bit. Definitely a specialty tool, I would NOT just mess around with it if you don't know it inside out
The problem with elevate is that you cannot change the position if the clipper inside the chain: you have set up filter config-> limiter -> transient shaper -> clipper.ni prefer many times to have the court y before my limiter. But if you buy the mastering bundle, you can turn off the output clipper in elevate and put saturate in front....
They are somewhat similar, this is a straight up saturator, nothing does what inflator does tho and it's on sale now for $39 USD, no brainier. bit.ly/2RpWChT
Depends on the material, on wideband mode Kclip might eat some more low end compared to this, which is also on the warmer side (with Kclip on soft or crisp modes), in multiband of course you can adjust Kclip as you want, but I really like this one
Not a fan of newfangled audio. Eventide only handles their distribution. I have their EQuivocate and I think it is really bad. But I'll might try this one.
@@georgenext3030 EQuivocate just sounds really unnatural when I try boosting. It's okay for restoration work but for music production I don't like it at all.
In this video you describe this as being “so good- high end, high quality” Yet you just stated in a comment that this plugin “aint that great.” Some clarity would be appreciated here
Compared to others. Plugins are disposable and they become obsolete pretty quickly technology advances what is good today you might not be that great tomorrow compared to what's available that's simple (another reason why hw is better)
@mixbustv I also say goldclip is the best. Which is a company you endorse. You want to pretend I'm a hater and push plugins that ruin transients and phase. Go ahead I guess. Or maybe you can't hear it 😆 it has to do with the spectral detail dial. If turned off the transients and phase are fine. When turned up it splits the signal into several bands and it clips mids treble and lows separately. This causes phase issues and even if they use linear filters it causes the transients to smear. It also changes the eq of the track essentially. You end up with less bass because the plugin distorts it less to preserve the "spectral detail." In audio everything comes at a price. You claiming like it's a magic plugin that can do no wrong is laughable.
Bad clipper, lot of aliasing (hard or soft clipping), no oversampling paremeter, take freeclip by venn if you really want a clipper , you can analyse it to with pluggin doctor, the Free is simple in another world just with OS *2 in softclipping
Am learning so much from this channel lately your videos and explanation is so great.
3 years later and this is still the best bang for your buck

Great demo, thanks for posting. I've been using it and really like it. The whole suite is great too.

Just bought the Elevate bundle. Great so far! This clipper is the best I've used.
+1 for gain correcting by default. Should be on by default on any quality stuff. Its also very light on cpu
I like this one a lot, seems to do just what you need it to do. I'm gonna need to try this one out.
do you clip anything David, tracks and busses? for example on drums would you clip the buss or the tracks or all of them?
Vs Kazrog Kclip please..?
This is the best, gain correction by default no need to say more
