The Oxventurers find themselves in a hostage situation, as a criminal and his henchmen are trying to steal all the very rare foods from a famous chef... Only for them to kill the criminal, the henchmen, and the chef, and then steal all the rare food themselves. Spectacular.
[SPOILERS] Of course, only in the Oxventure would the main boss get randomly killed outside of a fight and the only npc without stats become the main villain
In the next adventure: Tumblr's husband, Fanfic, comes after the Oxventurers to avenge his soulmate's catastrophic injuries. Fanfic is a bard who sings saucy songs about the Oxventurers' misdeeds to try to ruin their "sparkling" reputation.
Bismuth is my favorite character. She's the only NPC that is immune to the group's shenanigans. The musical changes from scene to scene are wonderful as well. Love this series so much!
I mean, I know it's probably just the plot of _Die Hard_ in its entirety, but this is _the_ Oxventure episode that I really want to know what Johnny's original plan was - you know, before they pivoted to killing the regular person chef for, "ruining their honeymoon," even though he's the one being targeted by the recipe terrorist that _actually_ ruined their honeymoon. In other words - a classic, and incredibly on-brand comeback for the Oxventurers.
Good catch, I was trying to work out the gag. Still can't help but wonder what they actuallhy intended to reveal plot wise before it was so thoroughly derailed 🤣
Egbert's love of food and -1 wisdom takes him far in these adventures. He was the catalyst for the chef's villain origin story and he didn't even realise it. Gotta love that chaotic scaly boy.
@@DrakeAurum is it "defending" when he tried to cut Egbert's stomach open to retrieve his meat?! What non-villain would even consider disemboweling someone over _food_ that's already gone?! He tried to cut our scaly boy open so that he could re-use the meats that were already partially chewed and swallowed?! Nah, that's some villain shit right there. If he wanted reimbursement he could have made Egbert clean dishes for the rest of his life 😂
It also apparently didn't cross the chef's mind that if he's really intent on getting those meats back (disgusting as that would be) there are non-lethal options. He could have tried to reason with Egbert and talk him into drinking a glass of salt water to puke it all back up, for instance. It would still be unpleasant for Egbert but it wouldn't be the pure evil move of eviscerating him over cured meats.

This is the same plane of existence where a group of wealthy people toss anyone into a prison for any "conceivable crime" (be it thievery, murder, coughing, littering, etc.), a town full of criminals kills two men who share passing resemblances to a pair of their most wanted, a town that used an ornate sword to declare someone was fit to rule, and many others. That being said, if a person's first thought to make another pay for eating all of their luxury foodstuffs is to gut them, something tells me that person might not have been all that sane to begin with.
I'm so excited for the new season to kick off and am really hoping the 'Legacy of Dragons' is referring to Egbert's past crimes and need for atonement. I want to know what he did and how he was changed from human to dragonborn.
I'm hoping it's related to the rumor that bismuth is an adult bronze dragon, which Johnny has specifically acknowledged in the past, in fact, I'm calling it right now that that is what this is.
Clearly the Lake District from Geth is trying to figure out why all their lakes are so low on water, given how much Dob withdrew to pay for the honeymoon (and wedding?).
I love how Bismuth started out as a mysterious elderly sage woman but has turned into an eccentric weirdo who just randomly shows up from time to time. I'm picturing one of the witches from the Scottish play gradually transforming into Puck from Midsummer Night's Dream.
Ellen, if you're playing 5th edition, I'm fairly certain you're supposed to add your spellcasting modifier (Wisdom) to your Cure Wounds! I just want you (and Prudence) to get all the healing you deserve. Congrats on turning the tables and casting spells other characters know!
wisdom bonus is right but spellcasting modifier isn't, it's spellcasting ability modifier. without the word ability it would include proficiency bonus such as when casting a spell that requires an attack roll.

Also, funny that Rick & Morty "did a Die Hard" a couple of weeks back and now here you guys are, doing the same.

Playing my first DnD game now. After a few sessions it’s been really fun. If you guys ever want a complete stranger to game with count me in. Also Johnny’s Hanz Gruber impersonation was fantastic.
