Honestly, Johnny inspires me as a DM more than any other. They make everything look so easy and natural, while creating a welcoming environment that feels more down to earth than a lot other dnd shows.

Everyone, including the DM, can go absolutely apeshit. Each PC goes into their own group, with two or three NPCs as competition, working their way up. Survivors are then pitched against one another, and the one who survives THAT gets to fight the champion. I‘d suggest establishing that each group has 1 fight per day, so that all PCs get a long rest in between.

I'm enjoying them too, particularly being introduced to new people. I started listening to the Three Black Halflings podcast after the You Awaken in a Strange Place one-shot and I'm definitely gonna be following this episode's guests now.
It's quite neat that Luke and Ellen got new characters in this one-shot. It feeled like they wanted to try new classes for a while, but didn't want to kill Dob and Merilwen in order to do so. Good they've found a solution.

All the new characters were absolutely classic, but I especially hope Troublen Strife shows up again cause that was a delightful anthology of nonsense! 😂👏🏼

Straight off the bat I adore the party dynamic. Rage, Anitari, and Celena are honestly sweethearts minding their own business, Strife is spinning more yarn than a wool factory, Harold immediately pinpoints him as the most likely face to get a fist in it, and meanwhile Corvus is next to them doggedly thinking "I'm not nearly drunk enough for this". And of course Johnny, as ever, strikes just the right balance of attentive and irreverent for entertaining and engaging shenanigans : )
Johnny I love you you are an amazing DM flexible and absolutely just as crazy as we need you to be, thank you for your strength and continuing this adventure and creating new adventures in ways I couldn't have imagined
Fun stuff with a great bunch of guests, but oof a lot of ongoing fiddling with my volume levels was required to catch the dialogue. Lots of room for improvement in the audio mixing for this one.
I've always had a soft spot for Dragonlance. I had started homebrewing an alternate version of the setting where Lord Soth actually succeeds in killing the Kingpriest and prevents the Cataclysm, but his actions set off a long war between Istar and Solomnia, good and evil male and female draconians exist but weren't created from dragon eggs, metallic and chromatic and gem dragons are active, the gods are banned from physically appearing on Krynn, and so on.
I like this idea. Especially with Soth and Icolde acting as a kind of spectral entity who people can pray to for atonement and to guide them on a path of redemption
The beautiful thing about Soths Story is that in the End he is officially more or less redemmed. I had a different approach in making Soth good. My party found the Chapel of Paladine inside Daargard Keep and what people thought was a Weapon against him, was acutally a way to redeem him. And it - with some lucky dice rolling on their part - worked.
Just wanted to say, Dragonlance was my first accidental introduction to D&D (it’s a whole story, dad found the annotated first trilogy when I was in middle school and thought “here’s something my child would enjoy, a multi volume tsr book where the authors talked about hex tiles when he’s barely through geometry). I’m ecstatic to see you all take this short module on, and Johnny’s soth impression is basically how I saw it in my head, except with fewer skulls.
My only criticism is that Val was difficult to hear half the time. I don't know if they had a lapel mic that just wasn't working or if there was other issues, but other than that fantastic show. I'd love to see more of these guests on other one-shots and/or short form adventures! Great charisma amongst everyone and clearly much fun was had by all.
It seems like a lot of what the players are doing are more in line with persuasion vs deception. Honestly sometimes it can go either way and can also depend on the player if they can make an argument for one or the other. maybe they have proficiency in persuasion but not deception or something. otherwise not sure
great work by all and loved the costumes. also nice to see that keeping the tradition of bossing the fights while messing around before hand was still going. questions if anyone else that runs this will catch the fish in the same way

Vodded this one yesterday. Absolutely enjoyed it. The cast y'all brought on is new to me; yet, they gelled so well that I'd like to see y'all partner up in another adventure in the future and bring it to Oxventure (if possible). I have a feeling that I'll be seeing Selene's spell become an evolution of Merilwen's Moonbeam. Dare I say, canon? Also, Luke portraying a bodyguard - that should become canon in a future adventure, too. Thank you, all. Looking forward to the next adventure - and more of the cast as an ensemble. I literally feel like Dob's character in it of itself was split between two people in this… Herold is who Dob wants everyone to believe he is… whereas Troublen is what everyone actually believes Dob is… Loved it either way!
Was loving Corvus from the start, but they truly had me at Hell-Crows. And in my head-canon there were 60 skelecrows. Art people can we get a *Sip, pew, crows, sunglasses* vignette?
Been saving this for my night off, I'm less than an hour in and I simply MUST get a PC (and learn animation) that I may craft a beautiful, hilarious cartoon commemorating this triumph! 💜
I love y’all so so so much and these guests seem super lovely but I found the difference in audio levels really rough with this one- maybe it will be better with headphones, but players (and guests in particular) were so quiet compared to Johnny :( Maybe next time players could have mics clipped to their costumes rather than relying on a boom mic? Or more evening out in the audio mixing since Johnny mic seems closest to their mouth? Absolutely awesome game and can’t wait to see more one shots ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

This wasn’t quite as fun to watch as the usual Oxventures. I think Oxboxtra has a rapport from years of working together that makes it extremely enjoyable. While this has bright moments, it’s more awkward and halting.
I don't like these crossovers or whatever either. This one was better than the last, where the guests were constantly talking over one another and mumbling, but with these guys too, I'm not really used to them and it's hard to make out what they're saying a bunch of the time. And like you said they didn't mesh that well and stuff.
Dragonlance man one of my favourite book series why they haven't made a proper feature film of it yet I don't know, caramon and raistlin etc, it was also my introduction to D&D too all the way back in 2nd edition when thac0 was to to hit armour class 0 lol, I played a solamnic knight
You know what, while it is a lot of fun following our regular Oxventurers, it is always brilliant seeing new players and how they play the game in new and crazy ways. Corvus was a spectacular show of everyday chaotic evil, while Strife was a masterclass in absolute confidence/zero skill, and they played off one another perfectly. Meanwhile Anitari and Rage were just having a good time, and being quite cute while doing so. Robot cats for the win. Also Luke having to reluctantly look after Strife. Amazing. Good show all round.

Was loving Corvus from the start, but they truly had me at Hell-Crows. And in my head-canon there were 60 skelecrows. Art people can we get a *Sip, pew, crows, sunglasses* vignette?
Been saving this for my night off, I'm less than an hour in and I simply MUST get a PC (and learn animation) that I may craft a beautiful, hilarious cartoon commemorating this triumph! 💜

I love y’all so so so much and these guests seem super lovely but I found the difference in audio levels really rough with this one- maybe it will be better with headphones, but players (and guests in particular) were so quiet compared to Johnny :( Maybe next time players could have mics clipped to their costumes rather than relying on a boom mic? Or more evening out in the audio mixing since Johnny mic seems closest to their mouth?

Loved seeing a Dragonlance module, but not being able to hear the players talking half the time hurt. Mic issues im guessing?

I predict a lot of chaos!
This wasn’t quite as fun to watch as the usual Oxventures. I think Oxboxtra has a rapport from years of working together that makes it extremely enjoyable. While this has bright moments, it’s more awkward and halting.
I don't like these crossovers or whatever either. This one was better than the last, where the guests were constantly talking over one another and mumbling, but with these guys too, I'm not really used to them and it's hard to make out what they're saying a bunch of the time. And like you said they didn't mesh that well and stuff.
RIP headphone users. My poor ears request more compression, please. Thoroughly enjoying the one-offs
Dragonlance man one of my favourite book series why they haven't made a proper feature film of it yet I don't know, caramon and raistlin etc, it was also my introduction to D&D too all the way back in 2nd edition when thac0 was to to hit armour class 0 lol, I played a solamnic knight

You know what, while it is a lot of fun following our regular Oxventurers, it is always brilliant seeing new players and how they play the game in new and crazy ways.
Corvus was a spectacular show of everyday chaotic evil, while Strife was a masterclass in absolute confidence/zero skill, and they played off one another perfectly. Meanwhile Anitari and Rage were just having a good time, and being quite cute while doing so. Robot cats for the win.
Also Luke having to reluctantly look after Strife. Amazing.
Good show all round.
