„They feed you“, right at the beginning, actually. Flumphs feed off evil vibes, which is why they can be found primarily around mind flayer colonies. But since they‘re lawful good they are really unhappy about this. If they live around f.e. a lich, they will actually give adventurers helpful information about the lich‘s lair, and where the traps are. They‘d rather starve than see evil prevail. An entire mindflayer colony however is far too large to take on by adventurers, which is why they‘ll strongly advise you to walk the other way.
Fun fact - "the Kindly Ones" was an Ancient Greek euphemism for the Furies, who wreaked vengeance on evildoers. Kind of appropriate really. We also now know that Johnny hates only one thing more than flumphs - gentrifiers. Based.
Not gonna lie, Flumphs are one of my favorite D&D Monsters! Once had a player who was a Warlock trying to become a Lich enlist the help of a group of Flumphs to collect souls for him, only to return and see the only things they had collected were a few dead squirrels and small birds.

Minor Spoilers for the very end. The lore between Flumphs & Mind Flayers is weird, cause mechanically Flumphs seem to be a weakened natural predator to Mind Flayers. They can just sense & comprehend any telepathic activity within 60ft, can't be surprised by telepathic creatures(any form of telepathy, also might have saved one Flumph at the end), immune to having it's thoughts & emotions read as well as divination spells. The Gods themselves can't tell you what a Flumph is up too & the spells see invisibility, scrying, legend lore, true seeing(by extension true sight) & foresight(level 9 spell) have no effect against them. Plus the AOE poison condition & the acid damage, if you don't have a restoration spell & don't pass the DC you are going to die, there's no time limit to the recurring damage. Even if you do pass, it can be reapplied & stacked by one or more Flumphs, leading to 10 D4 or more damage at the end of a turn. But they are so weak. 12AC & 10DC for all their stuff & are literally the only creature in 5E vulnerable to psychic damage, the main damage output for Mind Flayers(forgot to mention Prone Deficiency). Really weird. My guess would be that it's lost to history that the Gith elevated or plainly made Flumphs to be the perfect predator of Mind Flayers, but they eventually weakened the Flumphs to being a nuisance & don't disturb them. Everyone who knew of what happened is dead & no one living can find out about it cause of Flumphs immunity to divination magic. TL:DR, a cloister of Flumphs is the last place a Mind Flayer would want to go. Especially one as big as Johnny made, where 97 is a few.
The moment I heard that a character called "Tony Fox" was breaking down into the underdark to build and sell houses, literally all I could think of was "Tony Fox's Undersale"
My dnd group loves flumphs because we had a wild magic barbarian who kept rolling the “creates magic flumphs that explode” result on his wild magic table. So they became a meme

It was the description of what the first one was wearing that made me realize it. I love that Jayne has a knack for surviving an unexpectedly long time in these. Oh... god... Flumphs are my absolute favorite D&D creature and the one thing from D&D I would pick to bring to the real world if I could pick any one creature. In my ideal world, everyone would have their own Flumph companion. That would solve so many problems. They can telepathically communicate with each other miles apart. Imagine what that does for emergency response. And they can show everyone around you how you are really feeling, making it harder to lie and harder to be mean to people when you know how it is affecting them. And that is just the start of the benefits of Flumphs as companions.
Johnny no... why... no.... god no... all those Flumphs... I have never been so at odds with Johnny before today. What a way to open the game... with a massacre of those gentle beings... senseless death. Genuinely made my eyes water.

Watching all these amazing "D&D But..." where everyone's very squishy and swiftly replaced does make me wonder if we could ever have an Oxventure Glaze of Blory video (please!)
Well that was Flumphing fun, wouldn't suprise me if there ends up being a live show follow up of this like Oxventure did with Kobolds. Also some version of a D&D But After Dark could be intriguing & entertaining 🙂🤔👍👏👏👏
The "DND but everyone's (insert modifier here)" series is awesome, I hope the oxventure crew continues in this vein

Respect.
Only 97 of them died 😂. Still the highest killcount for a single "attack".
Ah, a true Classic.
98 dead flumphs in a game, 98 dead flumphs. Kill one off, "mourning" the loss, 99 dead flumphs in a game.

I picture Mike´s scary flumph riding the goat like kratos can ride an ogre for a while and then it just snapped it´s neck as the goat was foaming from the mouth, brutal creatures this flumphs, lawful good you say?
If I had a nickel every time Mike’s “D&D but everyone’s a ____” character immediately picked a fight with the first thing he saw upon reaching the surface…
Also, a character called “Dockleaf the Scary” absolutely deserved to make all intimidation rolls with advantage. Where is Andy and his BS when you need him? 😁
Watching all these amazing "D&D But..." where everyone's very squishy and swiftly replaced does make me wonder if we could ever have an Oxventure Glaze of Blory video (please!)
docleaf... scary because all of his tentacles end in an eye... most are vestigial, but people keep mistaking him for a small beholder
Holy cow, Jerry The Flumph?
HHHELLOO!
Well that took a turn at the end... the kindly ones are awesome!
Lol get flumphed
Get absolutely flumphed
This needs to be a T-shirt
The sound effects! Johnny you fiend!
BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER!!!!!!!
I got home and saw this and I am just so happy
DND but oops all bards
Legit squealed when I read flumph. This is amazing! ❤😂
Jane is just full of glee for this from the start.
I'm betting this turned out to be Johnny's favorite adventure so far. He got his flumph killing spree.
2:10 _Slowly turns blue_
I had the Woody scaring Syd in Toy Story when Luke talked about having a word with them 😆
what a great flumph adventure, i love a story with a happy adventure.
loved all the names Johnny came up with for the flumphs
Why can't I like this video more than once?
I was hoping for Blasto the first flumph Spectre, but maybe next time!
I understood that reference
Well that was Flumphing fun, wouldn't suprise me if there ends up being a live show follow up of this like Oxventure did with Kobolds. Also some version of a D&D But After Dark could be intriguing & entertaining 🙂🤔👍👏👏👏
Great oxventure, would love to see a DnD but with overpowered characters, where the challenge would be to just minimize collateral damage,
