The previous Serie 8 has a design flaw where fluff gets caught in the 2nd exchange (cant recall correct name). The moisture cant get through properly so remains in drum resulting in extended drying times. Newer models have an additional filter & front access to stop this occurring.
To fix is a strip down, clean the fluff off and rebuild. Took me around 3 hours taking my time but towels gone from 10 hours (yes i persevered) to just over an hour.

Wow! That seems an issue!! So far mine is working fine and runtimes are pretty fast. Normally a few hours for a load of towels. Hopefully mine does not develop that problem.

@@everythingandthekitchensink The one in this video has the additional filter, so is fine. It's the one you had before (same as mine) which has the problem. Otherwise, brilliant machines.

Hi, really useful thanks! Is your dryer slowing down now? I am dumping my old series 8 with self clean as it is getting unusably slow. I see you had the same problem. Does the autoclean last better?

No issues at all with it so far. Still working very well. Hopefully for a lot longer than my previous series 8 did!

I have a hose attached. I am getting the CrE message - which I understand means I have to run the basic care programme. As the hose is attached I am supposed to do something first, but can't understand what I have to do.

It is something to do with the condensation for I think you have to remove a seal underneath it but I’m not 100% sure. Best thing to do will be to google the instruction manual and doublecheck in there..

For anyone else looking for the answer to this question, their is a stopper on top of the draw that, has to be moved to the bottom of the draw, before you can put the warm water in. After the self care is complete you need to put the stopper back in its storage position.

Mine doesn't do anything once I hit the play button. The timer shows and goes down but the drum is static and lights are off. Any recommendations mate?

Sounds like the motor has failed? Still under warranty? Give them a call. The fee for call out is high with Bosch though, even before they fix it… if out of warranty that is.

@everythingandthekitchensink thanks for the reply mate, I'll give that ago as it's still in warranty. Not sure if it's the motor as the normal dryer functions work?

@@everythingandthekitchensink I just switched it off from the plug. When I turned it back on the prompt came up to run the machine care programme - but this time it actually worked. Thanks for helping though mate, I appreciate it.
