Exploring Caves and The Florida Trail in Withlacoochee State Forest

- Let’s take a hike along the Florida Trail and off the beaten path and into Withlacoochee State Forest. This area is located in the Citrus Tract in Citrus County, Florida. The area of the state is along the Brooksville Ridge, a natural geological formation that stretches for miles from central to northern Florida known as The Brooksville Ridge. Lots of exposed limestone with caves, sinks and karst formations. It has taken thousands of years for places like this to take form and they are still changing all the time. It’s a very unique part of Florida and it takes you back to another time out here. Exploring these ancient and beautiful places is always a treat. I’m thankful that they are still preserved for us to experience. Parts of the Florida National Scenic Trail can be explored here along with many other off trails and forest roads. It’s important to be prepared, and safe around the rocks and caves. Respect and leave the areas undisturbed so that they can be preserved for future generations please and thank you. In the past many of these areas were used for mining actives such as limestone and phosphate. Hi Florida Trailblazer you're the second person this week to do a video in Jeeps Cave. I watched Tampa Jay's exploring this too. He pointed out the dates carved in the stone in the cave entrance which you're probably aware of. History no telling how long before the earliest date that this caves been used.Thanks for another great video.

I am terrified of sink holes, but that cave is so beautiful and the wilderness all around.
FTB videos are a welcome respite from news, current events, etc. Dealing only in the real. At [4:13 ]mark, there's a treacherous hole and exposed root system of a tree it would be way too easy to break an ankle in. The last such hole I saw was in the Levy County Park at Bird Creek, Yankeetown, which includes a bit of Gulf Coast beach.
So cool! I would have worried about meeting a bear!
From central Florida here. They're not very likely to bother you, but yeah, you've got a point. He is in prime bear country up there in the Withlaoochee Forest.

North Forida fan here. Good job on the video! I was surprised to see those orange socks but then I realized how effective they would be for spotting ticks. I've been yanking them off right and left lately.
These trails are FULL of ticks, me and my friends got lost off trail and when we got back onto it I was COVERED In babies lol
@@mattssamson I have friends who call them "seed ticks" and yeah, the welts they leave behind are just as long-lasting as the adult bites. Good thing you got them off before they migrated to your nether regions.
