  • This is quite a special video for me. All the conversations and stories embedded in this role play can be traced back to my mother, Patricia.
My mother was a creative, vivacious, elegant, and compassionate woman. Among her many talents was sewing. I've never known anyone who loved to create beautiful things out of fabric as much as she did. She made clothes for me and my brother from my earliest memory, and only 18 months before she died, she fulfilled her dream of making my wedding dress from a pattern of her own design. If you’d like to see that dress, it is featured in this video: • ASMR * Lint Rolling Vi...
Going to the fabric store with her was a regular thing. In fact, I got to know the manager at Jo-Ann Fabrics so well that she eventually hired me while I was in high school. I had a lot of fun pulling details from my memory to make this video. I hope you enjoy it.
The video features a 21-minute section of fabric unrolling, measuring, smoothing, cutting, and folding that starts at 19:56. You’ll also hear the crinkly sounds of old zipper packages and occasional soft-spoken customer service sprinkled throughout.

The love & grace you have for your mom is palpable This video was very, very sweet (& also excellent ASMR!) & i thank you for another daily reminder of my incredible mommy too, thinking about her are some of the happiest moments in my days (that is, when they're are not the hardest moments.)🤍❤️🤍

Oh, my! Your loss is so fresh. I haven't felt my mom's cheek against mine for 22 years. Sooo long ago, but also just yesterday. She is with me wherever I go, whatever I do. She had a crooked smile, as do I. So if I want to see her, sometimes I just look in the mirror and smile. 😌
I'm so glad you told me about your incredible mommy. The love changes us, doesn't it? 🌸

As someone who works there in the present day, it's very clear to me you worked there in the past because of all the little details I can point out and be like "that's such a Joann thing!"
I might be 6 months late, but I love this video so much, you don't even know.

Oh, I love this comment so much!! ☺️☺️Worked there in late high school/early college, and just loved it. My mom and I were such regulars there throughout my childhood. Loved sitting down with her at the pattern catalog table and picking out the next blouse or skirt (or even jeans jacket) that she was going to make for me!!! Btw, I have an ironing video of that jeans jacket, complete with the cute little woodland embroidery. You can find it here:

What a lovely tribute to your mom. My mother also made clothes for us. Matching outfits for her, me, and my doll. One Christmas she made a whole Barbie wardrobe. My mother also passed away 2 years ago at 94. The women of our mother's generation were amazing women. May they rest in peace.

Some of my first ASMR experiences in real life were from fabric shops as a child!! My mom did a lot of sewing projects and I loved going to the store and watching them measure and cut fabrics. I am ecstatic for this video.

What a loving tribute to your mom...my mom sewed all of my clothes, too, growing up in the 60's. Looking back on it now, I think the crinkly sounds of the pattern tissue and the scissors cutting the fabric at the store were one of my very first ASMR experiences. Enjoyed this very much : )

😮 that pattern and fabric are SO SIMILAR to a dress my mom made in the early 70’s (she was a seamstress too, made so many of my clothes as a kid). Her in that dress, leggy, big hair, frosted blue eyeshadow, is my absolute favorite Polaroid of her. A video about your mom brought a favorite memory of my mom 🥰

I love the image you paint of your mom in that Polaroid. I can imagine every bit of it. Especially the big hair and blue eyeshadow-and I’m guessing an overall orange/yellow hue from the Polaroid itself? I’m so so happy my video triggered that memory for you. 🫶🏼

My first experience with what we now know as ASMR was going to the fabric store with my grandmother as a child (late 60s, early 70s). I remember looking forward to those trips because of the tingles. I just stumbled onto your channel today, and thank you so much for this video! It triggers both tingles and wonderful memories.

I just about cried watching this. My Mama passed away at 11:15pm on Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022... after a two year battle with terminal Cancer in both her lungs (she never smoked a day in her life). Two weeks before she passed, she also caught Covid (being fully vaccinated helped her)... but she fell and broke her hip in the middle of the night a week after contracting Covid. Her broken hip was too much for her already battered body.... and the Covid ravaged her. She had just turned 66.
I'm still not over her loss. We were very close. She taught herself to sew at the age of 13. She could make anything out of fabric. Anything.
I just turned 40. I grew up in fabric stores too. Everything about your video is exactly how I remember almost all of my experiences with her in all those fabric stores... right up to the last few months of her life when she could still go out. I would bundle her up & bring her to our local store just so she could sit and be with "the girls". There was something so healing to her soul being there. Honestly, mine as well. I'm weeping tears of happiness & sadness all at the same time.
Thank you for making such a wonderful video. Thank you so much. I treasure it. My Mama's name was Doreen Mercer; and I miss her. ❤️❤️

Hi Nancy, I read your comment some months ago but got behind in responding and am only now catching up. But I want to respond to you in particular. So much of what you say here resonates with me. My mom died at 61 after an 8-year battle with ovarian cancer, so every childhood, teenage, or young adult memory I can recall is a gift because my mom was at the center of them all. I'm glad you were able to recover some memories while watching this video. Your message really touched me. Thank you. Sherri 🌺

Funny thing, but I remember loving the sound of fabric cutting-specifically the sound of the scissors scooting against the smooth counter mixed with the cutting and fabric sounds. It’s a weird sound to like, but I tried to recreate it when I cut the coat fabric. 😂😂
