Watch me perform everyday tasks involving 12 different types of fabric. First, an inspection is required of several items of clothing. Threads that stick out need to be removed. Widths and lengths need to be measured 'cause that's what normal people do on a Saturday morning: measure the inside leg length of a random pair of trousers. 🙂
What you'll hear: tape measure sounds, the rustling of different types of fabric, pencil on wood (writing sounds).
I work at the speed the tasks ask for, meaning few sounds are drawn out. Arm movements are kind of normal, not slowed down. Also, this is a tap-free video.
This video was inspired by ‪@FemaleASMR2‬ 's fabulously relaxing video "ASMR Fabric Sounds/Measuring/Folding"

    Background story to this video
Touching different types of fabric brings back fond memories. My mom was a seamstress who took me along to many fabric stores in search for the perfect cotton or linen for a new blouse, jacket or dress. She taught me to always test fabric for crease resistance. She taught me how to recognize the right side of a fabric and how to spot the difference between taffeta and silk, between ciselé and ponson. Many a time I rolled my eyes at her teachings. I didn't get it. I was bored. I wanted clothes from the store, not from my mom's sewing machine. 🙂
Notwithstanding my teenage frustrations, there was one thing I always enjoyed during fabric store visits: the opportunity to run my hands along countless colorful fabric rolls. So satisfying.
Creating this video reminded me of those wonderful childhood experiences.

Do you have a favorite type of fabric? Or a fabric you dislike with a passion? 👍👎

For me, the soft fleece fabric of TV blankets is 👍but wool on my skin 👎

I get a lot of static build-up from fleece and polyester. Cotton is best for me. And you're right wool is itchy. 🙂

100% pure wool, merino wool angora, cashmere, in fact any kind of natural wool leaves me scratching like mad with nasty red marks on whatever area of skin it touches. Cotton and viscose for me 😊.

Love the back story on this one. My grandmother was also a seamstress, as well as a talented quilter, so this is all very nostalgic for me, too. The sound of fabric scissors cutting out patterns and the soft thuds and clunks of fabric rolls being measured, laid out, and folded at the fabric store are among my first experiences of asmr.
    Lovely video, per usual, Kat!

    • @PoisabloomASMR
      @PoisabloomASMR  Год назад +1

Aw, thanks for sharing, Julie. ❤ Quilting is a whole separate skill! Did you inherit the talent? And yes, the soft thuds as the fabric rolls are being flipped over on the counter. Exactly! I'd forgotten about that. 🙂
And do you remember how they'd rip the fabric in a perfectly straight line after cutting it for about 10 inches. That always made me go 😮.

I could listen to that purple jacket forever. The crinkles are divine!
Your story reminded me of being little, and my grandmothers both making clothes. I had zero interest in it back then, since storebought clothes were "cooler," but by adulthood I would have given anything to go back and learn the craft from them!

In my opinion, your ASMR is the best on RUclips. Your techniques are creative and the resulting sounds are the most relaxing offered here. Your personal styling, your sets, and your colors add to the sense of well-being because we get he feeling that you enjoy what you're doing, and that you yourself are relaxed. Thank you!

Another winner. The zippers were interesting. There are so many different types and sizes. I like the ones that are made of plastic. I guess that's what they are. I know they are not metal. I seem to gravitate towards the slow sounds. 👍

Hi Kat! 🤗What a nice story about you and your mom! Bringing you along as a child to fabric stores and trying to pass on her knowledge to you, it's nice you have such fond memories of her. Lots of interesting material sounds in this video. When you were running your hands over the rolled up faux fur vest, you kind of looked like a James Bond villain with her pet....gopher?...beaver? Of course, you would never be a villain, you're much too nice for that. Actually, you would make a fantastic bond girl! I mean, James would take one look at your amazing hands and he'd be putty in them😜! Take care! 🙂
